I made the fool mistake Hedley is right. Busted. Still the point stands that Brown is more than likely no dummy like Green. More importantly Can anyone tell me why Green was signed. He playes little D can't guard multiple positions and is not a very good passer. This goes against the them were supposed to be building. No?

I have no earthly idea....His name is not one I ever considered would EVER be one DA would bring in here for any reason at all with deals he figured to be making in this time of PENDING CONTINUED FRONT OFFICE OFF-SEASON FIREWORKS...Cousins, yes, Okafor, yes, Noel, yes, a 7 foot tall Cigar Store Indian, yes, but Gerald Green, no, never for all the reasons you listed.

We all write things quickly, and sometimes don't have the desire to proof read. It happens. What annoys me is stuff that people are supposed to know - like how tall Kris Dunn is - things that can be researched, that guys get wrong. THEN, of course, they think it's no big deal, since it's only 2 inches...... If I wrote something like that...........wow!! I think the majority of smart people on this board know that Jaylen Brown is a smart kid, and will learn. As for Gerald Green - I think one of two things: 1. Either they don't like Young and Hunter, or they don't like Young and think Hunter needs another year (hence Green's one year deal) 2. There is already a trade in the works and two of more of our guards are involved.

We needed another shooter cuz BS was tired of relying on Young or Hunter and it showed against ATL in the playoffs, no? When you put all your eggs in the Griffin/Westbrook basket this is what happens, the best FA's are gone when you fine yourself at a dead end, having to scramble to fill holes. Would you prefer Chase Budinger or Green @ $1.4mm? How bout Dion Waiters (talk about low BBIQ!) or J.R. Smith? Either of those interest you? Or old men Jason Terry or Kevin Martin? Maybe Lance Stephenson ... cheaper/better than Waiters but a headache and questionable BBIQ as well. Green paired with Brown might be like show time in LA ... LOL!!! Young, meanwhile, could be at the end of the line. The 17th overall pick in 2014, the first of the first-rounders received from Brooklyn, has yet to make the kind of progress the Celts have been expecting. Worse yet, the questions first heard in his rookie year about how important the game is to him have grown more concerted. He could save himself with a good camp, but odds are that Young and his $1,825,200 contract will be a part of any trade the C’s might make. www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics/2016/07/sources_say_celtics_bring_back_green_re_sign_zeller The Celtics could eat Young and Hunter’s salaries if it came to that and only be on the hook for $3 million for this year. They could even stretch those out over three years if necessary to minimize the hit. So if it just came down to cutting players, they could do it.

Yes but Young and Hunter played so little Brown could have picked up those minutes. It's just a one year deal no great harm i suppose. The sixers are the most likely team to want two guards. The Clippers will want a big to replace Griffin. Does that mean were leaning toward the Phila trade or are just holding pat for either one?

It says Young will almost certainly be used in any trade - well, who else would go? I say it's Crowder. Of course they could just cut the kid like they did Perry Jones III last year, but I think that will be a last resort. Green signals the end of Young, but will he be traded or cut?

redsarmy.com/2016/07/24/your-morning-dump-where-the-celtics-still-arent-done-making-moves/Heck i thougt Young was dead last year and Hunter is taking his last breaths as we speak. Never said different. What are we replacing 5 minutes over 40 games? Yes i'll take the Green contract over the others. I personally wanted no one among the scrap pile left. Brown can play 30 minutes good or bad. He'll either improve a lot or prove to be a bust. Why wait till year three like we did with Young. Remember we are not contending yet. That would make a stop gap policy needy not now.

You've forgotten about Turner's minutes ... add Turner & Young/Hunter minutes and there will be plenty for Rozier/Brown/Green. I've read that talks with Philly have stalled and until they reduce their asking price they are stuck with their overloaded frontcourt ... the entire Association knows the jam they are in and will wait for the fire sale. Danny as well ... Doc would love to have Amir and he also loves Bradley's D. If he pursues Gay (C's won't deal Crowder) then he'll want AB & Amir with a pick while we give pieces like Rozier, Jerebko (maybe Oly) to Sac who could also get Redick from Doc since he'll be redundant and far more expensive than Bradley very soon. You can see that should the Griffin deal happen, losing Amir, Bradley and Rozier (I'd hate to lose him now myself) would not disrupt out core with Zeller, Green and Jackson now locked up. We'd miss either Jerebko or Oly but Griffin would ease the pain, I'm sure.

No i didn't forget about Turner who probably spent as many minutes playing the point as the 3 or 4. Young and Hunter played in 60 or so games together averaging much less than 10 minutes a game. Not much time to pick up there is it? Have you forgot Smart who splits his time at both wing spots? Stevens will play Brown very little because he's a rookie is a far better argument. I agree with your assesment of the Clippers situation except the fact that Griffin will ease the pain. Doc might think otherwise as he done litle to ease his pain. The 76ers are in the drivers seat not the Celtics. They just have to improve the Celtics have to go deep in the playoffs. They have a strong young healty front line for years. The Celtics have one decent second tier player named Horford who they spent too much money on./

Young is a liability not an asset Hedley is likely more correct. We'll get nothing of value for him. Ainge held on too long to another player he overvalued.

They have a strong young healty front line for years. The Celtics have one decent second tier player named Horford who they spent too much money on./ Smart ... forgotten? Not at all. In fact, I expect a major jump in his play this season. He may even take AB's starting spot away from him. Then AB will surely be accepting of a trade! So we'll have Smart/Bradley/Green/Hunter/Young at SG ... hmmm, trying splitting minutes up there! Stevens will have little choice but to play Brown with only Crowder ahead of him unless you see Green or Smart stealing minutes from him at SF. Griffin might be a pain but I meant that his "offense on the floor" will ease the pain of the offense lost from trading Jerebko or Oly. I differ with you on the Sixers and so does the local rag in that city ... the Julie Andrews act played by Colangelo only made it harder to move Okafor or Noel. If they are in such demand, where are the takers in this "free money" era lining up to take one off their hands? Oh, nobody has what Philly wants? So sorry ... so drop your price or re-establish their value but good luck with that now that they know you want to dump one of them ... LOL!!! www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20160724_Colangelo_doesn_t_help_Sixers_in_game_of_offseason_poker.htmlColangelo has a bewildering habit of letting people outside the Sixers' inner circle know what he's thinking. To achieve that precious roster balance, to make room for the arrivals of Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric, Colangelo has made it clear that Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel are on the market. So now, nearly a month after the draft, it shouldn't be surprising that the Sixers' roster remains unbalanced, that neither Okafor nor Noel has gone anywhere and that Colangelo has cost himself leverage in his attempts to get maximum value in return for either player.
What he's succeeded in doing is this: He has taken a situation that was already complex, that required patience, and has made it more tenuous, more fraught with peril for the Sixers' future. If the impulse to trade either Okafor or Noel is a natural one - last season suggested that the two were incompatible when they were on the floor together - Colangelo and the Sixers still would be better served by fighting it. The argument for trading one or both of them has always been based on the notion that each one's value was at its peak and would only drop once Embiid and Saric started taking minutes from them. That notion is false.
Noel doesn't need 35 minutes a night to demonstrate that his awkward-as-an-Erector-set jump shot has improved, that he can give a defender reason to guard him 10 to 15 feet from the basket, that he can be more than an excellent weak-side shot blocker. And for all of Okafor's refined post skills, he still has to show that he's capable of growth on the court and off. He has to become a better defensive player, a better rebounder, a harder worker. And after that succession of troubling incidents last season - the fight in Boston, the 108-mph dash across the Ben Franklin Bridge, a confrontation at an Old City nightclub in which someone drew a gun on him - he has to prove, to the Sixers and the rest of the league, that he can keep his nose clean.
Time is the best and most effective answer to these questions, the best way for Colangelo and the Sixers to learn what they really have in Okafor, Noel, Simmons, Embiid, the entire team. But by making his intentions so obvious, Colangelo has undermined himself. Okafor and Noel now know that the Sixers are shopping them, and that's a problem, because even though it makes sense for the Sixers to keep both players into the regular season, Colangelo has created conditions for a disgruntled locker room the longer that Okafor and Noel stay.

Did I say we'd get something of value for him? I said, before waiving him DA would try to trade him. Not for a return but to move him quietly for a 2nd rd pk or as filler in a bundled deal ... pay attention! Cutting players is bad for business and what kind of message would it send to Hunter or any other prospects in the C's organization now or in the future. Only when it becomes a "Bogans" situation will the C's get down and dirty.

Everyone in the NBA can't wait to play for Stevens or so some say .Scareing players off doesn't make much sense if you have that much confidence in Stevens. Smart played as much at the 3 as the two last year that's a fact. He needs to be included in the mix at SF.You seem to think he'll get more at the two this year? Why?

I'm amazed that so many people on this board are high on Brown. I was shocked by what I saw in the summer league. I cannot recall seeing a worse finisher in my close to 40 years of NBA watching. He has no clue how to finish. He was bailed out alot by the refs in the summer league playing against sub-D League talent. Not gonna happen in the NBA. I thought he had 1 good game. 1 meh game....quite a few bad games. Wasn't impressed by his last game where he scored 21 points on 21 shots. Hope I'm wrong because it will be devastating if we get nothing more than another defensive role player out of the 3rd overall pick. Lets turn this around. Is there ANYTHING that you are EVER high on? You are a part of the tanking crowd. You have been claiming that both Lakers and Philly are following a better plan. You have been an advocate of high draft picks. And now you are pissing all over Brown.

Yes Smart did play the 3 and the 2 and the 1 and the 4 and if not mistaken even a few plays at 5! I'm happy to add Smart to the SF depth chart ... Crowder - Brown - Smart ... he should spend the majority of his time at the 2 then the 1 though, don't you agree?

Sorry i meant Young not Brown just corrected it. Smart at the point was someting i thought we all gave up one years ago. If he was capable of playing the point Rozier would't have seen so much time in the playoffs. Make sense ? My opinion he's better at the three than Crowder with the smaller forwards in the NBA. Lets break it down. Crowder 28 to 30 Smart 10 to 12. That leaves Brown with 10 minutes at most at the three .We can send him to our powerhouse d league team to get some minutes like Rozier last year. The three pick should be able to come in and play about 20 minutes a game no less. You confidence in Brown is fading already?

Yeah he's no starting PG but that doesn't mean he can't play the position when needed. I think his natural spot is SG and if his shot improves as I expect/hope then he will get more time there and as said could even relegate AB to 2nd string. When playing small ball yes, Smart at 3 and Crowder at 4 ... Nah ... Brown will get 15-20 ... Crowder about 15-20 with another 10 at 4 ... Smart maybe 10 at 3 and 5 at 4 Rozier & IT split time at PG with Smart/Jackson filling in as needed Bradley (15) & Smart (15) get the lion's share at SG with Green/Hunter getting the leftovers (10) ... AB loses mins to Smart/Green/Hunter but he needs to stay fresh for end of games and he's a one trick pony unless he's added something to his game. I don't see Brown spending much time in ME at all ... Bentil, Jackson & Nader will be there with one or two assigned permanently except for a call up (10 day contract?) if injuries become an issue. Nader seems to be the one most likely to be a D-League D&S but why would he stay there when foreign teams have seen him in SL now and are lined up with contracts that pay much more than the RedClaws? If Nader signs a foreign deal then that helps Bentil especially if he has a good camp ... will be fun to see who takes the bull by the horns but we know it won't be Young.

You could very well be right and if Green gets 10 minutes or less im ok with that. I would still like to see Brown get 18 to 20 minutes mininum it will help going in to next year. Just pokin fun at the dleague dynasty.. He shouldn't see a day there .Green and Zeller were never in the mix untill all else failed.and were last ditch efforts. They are cheap and on a short lease other than that its nothing positive. Stevens showed he had little confidence in Zeller las year and Green is at the very bottom of our many one trick ponies. To paas this off as some sort of grand plan is a little over the top No?

I can forsee a lineup of Smart, Bradley, Brown, Crowder and Horford.......in spurts. Small, but very good on D. Can also see Rozier, Smart, Brown, Crowder and Amir...........in spurts. I still think (and hope) Brown will play a lot. I don't want to be proven wrong on this one!!
Point being - if Smart can play the "3", Crowder can play the "4".

Neither Smart or Bradley can bring the ball across half court with any pressure. Neither are very good facilitators either. It will have to be in small spirts. Agreed the D is a plus if the teams opposing bigs arn't really bigs. Maybe Brown can play point forward and bring the ball up to increase his minutes.
