So if kyrie was fasting for Ramadan, why would he tweet thanks to God instead of saying Allah? Surely he's not afraid to say Allah? They're the same. Islam is an offshoot of Christianity. They call it a "correction of Christianity" but thats too arrogant for my tastes. But they worship the Judaic-Christian God, they just call him Allah. But its the same entity. Actually I would argue that the split came with the two sons of Abraham, and that it's an offshoot of Judaism. I do realize that both religions claim the same father and the lineage of Abraham, and that Islam recognizes Jesus as a profit. Nonetheless "God" usually connotes Judeo-Christian, and most serious Muslims I know would say "Allah."

Wow, Middleton is out for the whole series. It's unfortunate but I'll take that. Let's still NOT relax now. These two eastern conference series are gonna be great to watch. Philly vs Miami will be a dogfight as will Boston and Milwaukee. If RWill is close to 100%, I think the C's have a great opportunity in front of them. I love Jrue Holiday but they have nobody who can cover JT and JB. Philly better be worried about beating the Rsptors first! Agree, Celtics have too much firepower in Tatum and Brown! Celtics in 6, maybe 5!!

Nonetheless "God" usually connotes Judeo-Christian, and most serious Muslims I know would say "Allah." If you want to get into the weeds, we (Jews) really f'd up. Did Jesus ever claim to be anything but Jewish? Judaism, at its core, is about compassion. There's an old Jewish proverb. Boy asks rabbi "I try to be a good person, but how do I make sure that I stay in God's good graces and get into heaven" Rabbi responds: "My concern is that your focus is on getting into heaven, and you arent being a good person just to be a good person. Now get out of my face, and go reflect." Point is: Jesus should have been our top prophet, even if we didnt believe he was the son of God (and above our prophets) , we still could have and should have put him on par with our old testament prophets. But we rejected him. And if someone told me I was a good Christian without knowing that Im not, I might correct them, but I might also just say thank you. But I know this , if someone told me I was Christ-like, I would be honored. Because you dont have to be Christian to strive to be Christ-like. The truth is, Jesus was a perfect fit to be a torch-bearer of Judaism. Careful with this though: "Actually I would argue that the split came with the two sons of Abraham, and that it's an offshoot of Judaism." Part of me thinks that the reason for this thought is because you dont want to consider Muslims an "us" and feel more comfortable painting them as a "them" (subconsciously). Just my philosophy, you're all Jews to me. Jews, Christians, Muslims. If you are in any of those religions, and you have empathy and compassion FOR ALL (not just for people who subscribe to the same religion as you), in my personal view, you're a great Jew. So obviously I would classify Jesus as a great Jew.

I really enjoy talking Celtics here. I really do, with everyone (all of your profile names). But honestly, what I appreciate more from y'all is the education I get on non-Celtics topics. This forum has folks of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and I love the knowledge you guys share.
No big deal......just wanted to acknowledge that.

Raised a strict Catholic believing that it was the one and only true church and that everyone else is pagan and going to hell...
it took me a while to sort things out how I felt about organized religions!
I had to give up a whole lot of childhood (in)security to grow up as a person.
The final straw for me was the business of the pedophilia scandal that continues to rock the church, even today, bringing it to its knees.
Turns out that Eric Hoffer had it just about exactly right!
Maybe we are all going to hell... oh the irony!
In the meantime.... Cs in 4 against the Bucks!

Once I told my class Jesus was a Jew. The class was shocked. I asked, what did you think he was? The answer?
A Catholic

I was born and raised Catholic, and I still am. I was NEVER taught I was better than anyone else, and I was NEVER told I could tell ANYONE they were going to hell. Only God makes that determination. I had nuns, I had Jesuits, and I had two very Catholic parents who taught me the only thing that matters is that you treat other people the way you want to be treated. While that has not been my experience in life, work or marriage, I remain undeterred in my beliefs. The pedophile scandal is a huge black mark on my faith. It is much more difficult to become a priest in this decade than it has ever been. Personally, I think they should allow priests to marry, and should allow women to become priests. The Church has paid billions of dollars, and deserves all the criticism they have received for allowing this to happen, and the subsequent cover up. I believe each one of us has our own journey of faith to complete. Mine is differnt than yours, not better or worse. I need what I do to keep me centered. At this stage, probably nothing could shake my faith. I know a lot of "fallen Catholics", and I am no better than any of them, or any one of any faith. As long as we there, right? End of rant

Hard to believe, no, impossible to believe that the church hierarchy and members overwhelmingly supported TFG in the 2016 elections.
Nothing can shake your faith.. not even that?
Watch "Shoes of the Fisherman" sometime and tell me if/how the Catholic Church measures up to that inspiring depiction.
BTW.... if you want priests to marry and women ordained (NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!).... you might want to find another denomination that already allows that.
The exclusively male hierarchy has been trying their damndest for 2000 years to destroy the church.
Its the Catholic women, the backbone of the church, who have consistently bailed the male clergy out.

I'm not sure I wouldn't let Giannis get his, and make sure we guard the rest of them! He can't score enough to make up for the others lack of offense! How would this play out? Talking defensive schemes. Here's how I think I would do it. Smart locks up on JRUE. We keep a rim protector back. Sometimes thats RWill, sometimes its Horford, sometimes its Theis. This person is the "helper" on Giannis, in addition to the on-man guarder. So the one who bodies up, Im thinking will sometimes be Tatum, sometimes be Horford, and sometimes be Grant. Maybe even some Jaylen too. Grayson Allen will likely be guarded by a combination of Grant, Jaylen, and Pritchard (and White). Grants defensive versatility was very valuable against the nets.

Celts are no match if Grayson suddenly becomes Ray Allen, Connaughton becomes Paul George, Portis becomes Chris Bosh, and Wes Matthews becomes Dwyane Wade.

I think he will still be awesome, but he needs to be double teamed whenever possible Grant did an amazing job on Durant despite giving up length. And initially I was concerned that Giannis' length would give him trouble. But I just checked and Durant has a listed 7'5 wingspan to Giannis 7'3. So Im no longer concerned about it. As Dee pointed out mid-season, and I think its an excellent point. Tatum is an elite defender, and also handled Durant spectacularly. However, the difference in play styles (Giannis attacks more, whereas Durant snipes from mid-range) could lead to some foul trouble, which we absolutely CANNOT have. So Im wondering if we should use a combination of Grant, Horford, and Tatum on Giannis. But try to limit the amount of time its Tatum. We just cannot have the best player in the NBA getting in foul trouble.
