Man, them Bucks are a tall team!! As Tommy would say, run, run, run, and run some more!! We really need to team rebound and deny second chancers.

Two big reasons for the C’s resurgence this season that seems to be completely undervalued is coaching and the return of Al Horford.
Big Al does everything well, maybe he’s not explosive enough for people or “great” but he weighs 265 pounds. He can body up any big in the league. His size and physicality allows him to bang in the paint, but also his shooting and passing from outside stretches the floor. They missed his mass on the interior after he was gone.
The new coach made Smart a starting point guard which is where he should have always been, if you task him with getting 10 assists a night he will shoot less and provides serious size and matchup issues for opponents at the point. At 220 pounds he is athletic enough to guard smaller guards, bring them into the paint on offense and lastly he can switch and guard much bigger guys on rotations. Defense matters in every sport on the planet.

This series really showed the maturity of the Celtics. It was a series the Celtics needed. Every game was close and the Celtics never quit. They took all of the Nets shots and still came out with a sweep. Also, two weeks ago while MIL was sitting their starters to avoid BKN, the Celtics were winning to secure that matchup. Now BOS will have home court in round 2, advantage Celtics. When you get down to it, the Celtics gave up 2 scoring outbursts in the series, KI in game 1 and KD last night. Outside of that, we played stifling defense, and made it hard on the Nets. We really need RWill closer to 100% to win a series with the Bucks. Good win last night and great series win. you called it. You knew that we needed this series. I was all sgainst it. But you had the knowledge and called it. 👏

Marciano was small for a "big fellow," standing a mere 5-foot-10 and weighing 185 pounds. He moved with the grace of a man trudging through a bog. But the Brockton, Mass., native's right could, by all accounts, take down a Loxodonta Africana. Well, perhaps not an elephant, but certainly an opposing pugilist. Most of the other fighters were at least over 200 lbs and some 220 etc. and 6’2’-6’3’ tall. He used to hit opponents’ arms until they finally dropped and then found an opening. "He was brutally strong," says sportswriter John Schulian, who grew up following Marciano. "When you got hit you stayed hit." When's the last time you heard the name Marciano mentioned on any sports show? If you grew up in the 40’s and 50’s, you listened to most of his fights on radio since they weren't carried on the limited TV (ABC, NBC & CBS) of the time and Pay Per View didn’t exist. His fights with Ezzard Charles, a black, were epics. Rocky didn't know about "Rope a Dope". His secret trick was to just put his opponent to sleep in the middle of the ring . . .. 49 wins and no losses. Since he was white and boxing has been taken over by blacks, he will never be given his due in this PC socially engineered society of the last 60 years or so. Since the Liberal/Progressives control our culture, society, media and sports, Marciano and his record will be buried forever in sports history. He is the only undefeated (49 -0) Heavyweight Champion in the history of boxing. He was also drafted and served in the army. Just so you know…A lot of people have this title confused. He wasn't a race baiter and sure as hell didn't convert to Islam. He was a local kid named Rocky Marciano, aka The Brockton Blockbuster. When he was asked on TV if he could've knocked out Ali in his prime his response was oh so classical!! "I'd be conceited if I said I could've, but I'd be a liar if I said I couldn't”. There's a hidden meaning in there. For those who don't know, dust my broom means take off and leave my woman behind. I like the original elmore james version. Actually I don't think he claims to have written it. Think it's an older song he adapted. I remember when I first saw the title I assumed it had a dirtier meaning (like lemon song) but nope, it means leaving your woman. I prefer Elmore James also but couldn't find a live cut Hey and Cole,, Its all cool between us. Super busy i'll respond to your PM when i'm caught up. My hidden message? Broom > Sweep,, I thought maybe it was a kyrie dig. Since he's our ex I guess according to kd

Man, them Bucks are a tall team!! As Tommy would say, run, run, run, and run some more!! Bucks are tall but they're really not a defensive force inside the paint. The only real shot-blocker is Giannis. I'm more worried about the Heat and Mavs. I think those 2 teams are the toughest match-up for the Celts.

Defense matters in every sport on the planet. Good post. 100% agree on Smart and I have been saying that he is an underrated PG for awhile. Aside from moving to a role causing him to shoot less, he also sees the court well and can anticipate what his teammates will do before it happens. He's great at throwing lobs to the bigs, which is fun, and any team at any time, can always use an easy bucket. Good point on Al, but Id like to respectfully disagree on one thing (minor). I dont think its Al's size that is helping, I think its a combination of his size + his ability to move his feet. If it was only size that we lost, he could have been easily replaced. For example, Kanter. Its easy to go out there these days and get a big slow center, because their value has drastically decreased, as teams have figured out how to exploit bigs without mobility (switches, lateral movement on offense...). But what makes Al apart from the dime/dozen "this guy has size" is his combination of size and mobility. We could have easily replaced Als size. But what we couldnt replace was someone with Als size with an ability to guard PF's and not just centers. And when you play a huge lineup (which we do, we're huge) its important to have guys can defend multiple positions. Which Al has proven he can. Hes gotten more spry since we last saw him here, which is crazy. He must have some Brady in him. By that I mean, strict diet, keeps his body right. True professional. I assume the foot healed a little bit, because 3 years ago, that slowed him down, and he's seemed to have gotten more quick, twitchy, bouncy, and agile in the last few years despite his advanced age. Good post.

From another board...
Nets Daily is on COMPLETE MELTDOWN!
They're bringing out the pitchforks on Kyrie Irving:
"irving talking about managing a franchise? what??"
"kyrie wants an extension?"
"There are so many fingers to point but it all comes down to Kyrie not getting vaxxed, a cancer if there ever was one. And who warned us? That's right the Celtics fans, how fitting. It must be nice to fleece us for Tatum and Brown in the draft, dump Kyrie on us, hire away Udoka and watch RW3 come back to help sweep as Simmons sits. Wow, just wow."
Same guy above mentions that Kyrie thought it was important for teams to build from October and said everyone has to have everyone's back. He just said that after sitting out the season and deserrting his teammates. Self-awareness champ Kyrie Irving everyone hahahaha.
"Bench Simmons is Ben's new name"...that's it I'm dedz.

This first round shows the importance of having a solid defense. Unstoppable KD and KI were "humbled" by the Celtics defense in a 4 game sweep. Look at what MIA did to Trey Young and MIL is doing to DeRozan and Levine (out now due to Covid).
What is the latest on Khris Middleton?
