and now Aldridge is most likely to sign there too? Hey we could use a stretch 4/5 and can pay MOAR!!!!!!!!! Years ago the NBA would step in and say "no way" ... that's an all-star team and we won't allow it. Wasn't it LAL that they froze out of a deal ... bring back the Stern one from the dead! LaMarcus Aldridge has received medical clearance to start playing basketball again, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Nets are considered the favorites to sign him, Charania adds.
The Nets are facing a potential roster crunch after reportedly reaching an agreement with free agent forward Paul Millsap earlier today. However, Brooklyn could open up room with a rumored buyout of veteran center DeAndre Jordan. The Nets can only offer Aldridge a veteran’s minimum contract.
At first it didnt make much sense to me, but I guess if they are buying out De'Andre there is a few minutes for a smooth shooting bench big.
So why this? And is the commissioner asleep or what? Speculation is they don't keep Okafor but may keep Sekou. If they do keep Okafor can they still take on Aldrifdge? This is how you gear up for a championship Danny ... Brad, I'm sure, is paying attention!
Nets Trading Jordan, Draft Picks To Pistons For Okafor, Doumbouya by Luke Adams
The Nets and Pistons have reached an agreement on a trade, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link), who reports that Detroit will acquire center DeAndre Jordan, four second-round picks, and $5.78MM in cash. Brooklyn will receive Jahlil Okafor and Sekou Doumbouya in return.
The draft picks headed to Detroit in the deal are the Nets’ own 2022 and 2027 second-round picks, plus the Wizards’ or Grizzlies’ 2024 second-rounder (whichever is more favorable) and the Warriors’ or Wizards’ 2025 second-rounder (whichever is more favorable), sources tell ESPN (Twitter link).
According to Wojnarowski, the plan is for the Pistons to work out a buyout agreement with Jordan, who has about $20MM left on his contract over the next two years.
The Nets had been trying for much of the offseason to find a taker for Jordan, a three-time All-NBA center who joined the team as a free agent in 2019 along with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving but fell out of the rotation in 2020/21. A report earlier this week indicated Jordan and the Nets were exploring a possible buyout — now it’ll be up to the Pistons to complete those talks.
Although the Nets had to give up four second-round picks to dump Jordan’s salary, the financial benefits will be significant, according to Wojnarowski, who tweets that the club will save $47MM in the deal. That money could be reinvested in buying back second-round picks down the road. However, as Woj points out, Brooklyn is confident in its ability to acquire minimum-salary talent to complement its Durant/Irving/James Harden core, as the team did this week by reaching an agreement with Paul Millsap.
The Nets will also acquire a pair of players in the deal, though it’s unclear if either Okafor or Doumbouya are in their plans. Millsap will be Brooklyn’s 13th player on a guaranteed contract – not counting Okafor or Doumbouya – and DeAndre’ Bembry has a substantial partial guarantee, making him the frontrunner to be the team’s 14th man. Free agents like LaMarcus Aldridge and Isaiah Hartenstein have also been rumored as targets for the club. Perhaps the Nets will give Doumbouya – 2019’s No. 15 pick – a shot, but I’d be surprised if they retain Okafor.
As ESPN’s Bobby Marks notes (via Twitter), Brooklyn will create a $6.27MM trade exception in the swap, which is the difference between Jordan’s $9.88MM salary and Doumbouya’s $3.61MM figure. Okafor can be acquired using the minimum salary exception, so the Nets don’t need to match his salary.
As for the Pistons, they’ll take on some dead money as a result of this transaction, but the pros outweigh the cons. Detroit had traded away its own second-round picks from 2022 through 2026 in previous deals, so this gives general manager Troy Weaver a chance to restock his cache of draft assets. Additionally, the $5.78MM in cash the Pistons are getting in the deal – which is the max the Nets could offer – will help cover some of Jordan’s salary.
On top of that, the Pistons had been facing a roster crunch, with 16 players on guaranteed contracts. A two-for-one trade, followed by a Jordan buyout, will reduce that number to 14, giving Detroit an open roster spot to work with. The club could give a camp invitee such as Jamorko Pickett the opportunity to earn that spot this fall or could simply carry 14 players to start the regular season.
Once Jordan is bought out, he’ll be officially placed on waivers and will become an unrestricted free agent two days later. Multiple recent reports have suggested the Lakers are a suitor to keep an eye on, and Wojnarowski reiterates that point today (via Twitter), calling Los Angeles a “serious contender” to sign the veteran center.

You lost me. How is this a Danny "slip-up"? Other than taking the Dancing Bear, YOU said, they were going to take him to draft and stash, but the Nugs picked him just ahead of us.............how is that slip up? They were going to stash whoever they picked either way......still mad at Danny, but I don't think this is a fair criticism
He had no backup plan if Juan was picked by another team and was forced to choose Yabusele who was a 2nd round pick by all accounts as he needed a draft & stash but had nobody else to go to.
All he had to do was move up a few spots to get who he wanted but DA as usual was too cheap.
I'm just not sure you can say all of this with definitive knowledge. I hated the Yabu pick, but after watching the draft for many years, I realize it is very hard to move up any spots once teams have zoned in on a player they want. Overall, I love this trade, and I think it makes up deeper. But I'm looking at it as Brad did this independently of anything Danny did.

It's no secret (wanting Hernangomez) as it was reported on one of the regular blogs some time ago and for sure Brad was in on the pick. It's never easy to make big jumps in the draft but also not hard to move up a few spots in a pick swap as long as a 2nd is added. Just saying that if Danny really liked Hernan and had no other D&S player other than Yabu (a 2nd rounder) then he should have guaranteed the player by going after him for a slight premium.

Nets Sign LaMarcus Aldridge, Waive Alize Johnsonby Dana Gauruder6:43pm: The Nets have officially signed Aldridge, according to a team press release. 4:19pm: The Nets are signing veteran power forward LaMarcus Aldridge and have waived Alize Johnson, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Brooklyn has officially announced the release of Johnson. Aldridge will receive a veteran’s minimum contract worth $2.6MM for one year. That was all the Nets could offer due to salary cap constraints.
DeAndre Jordan Expected To Sign With Lakers by Dana Gauruder
DeAndre Jordan is expected to sign with the Lakers once the Nets’ transaction with the Pistons is completed and Detroit waives him, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets.
Jordan will receive a veteran’s minimum contract of one year and $2.6MM. Brooklyn agreed to trade Jordan along with four second-round picks and $5.78MM in cash for Jahlil Okafor and Sekou Doumbouya. The Pistons are expected to buy out and waive Jordan, who has two years and nearly $20MM remaining on his contract.
Jordan is giving back $4MM to get out of his contract, Charania adds in another tweet.
How much Jordan, who fell out of Brooklyn’s rotation last season, would play with the Lakers is a major question mark. Los Angeles still has Marc Gasol on the roster and also signed Dwight Howard in free agency. Anthony Davis, naturally, will also see minutes at center. However, there’s been speculation that Gasol might not return to Los Angeles for the upcoming season.

Bucks need both, and nets will need all three. On the hernangomez trade, isn't he sort of redundant with Kanter? Bye bye, carson! I disagree that the nets are a 3 headed monster. Durant is the head. Kyrie/Harden are the shoulders. Durant is by far the best basketball player on the planet. Nobody, at present, is in his league. Remember he took the Bucks to game 7 OT practically by himself. Harden and Kyrie were both hurt. One wasnt playing, the other was playing poorly but they were both hurt and Joe Harris was ice cold that entire series. And Durant still took the Bucks (all 3 of their big 3 played well) to a game 7 overtime. Durant is a monster. Not particularly likeable, not a great leader. Actually, kind of shit for a leader. But pure basketball talent - he's in a league of 1 right now. You are correct on Durant...I have been saying that for years...Lebron is a good football player...

Celtics were gonna pick Juan in 2016 with #16 for a draft & stash but the Nuggets picked him just ahead of us with #15 resulting in the YaBusele selection ... What goes around, comes around. Brad fixes another Danny slip-up!
BTW, his brother Willy was drafted by the Knicks in 2016, traded to Hornets in 2018 and signed with Pels in 2020. He's 2 yrs older than Juan and 2 inched tall at 6'11."
Juan looks like the next Theis ... same frame, length and shooting characteristics ... hope he's as good or better!
Well, Juan has the tats to match Theis...

How are you liking being back in Massachusetts?...I should have invited you down for a day in San Diego before you left...we could have hung out at Swami's beach and had some lunch in the sorta hip town of Encinitas...where Eddie Vedder grew up...could have invited Dee for some arm wrestling...maybe SF would have come down and whooped us all, he has family down here...

Forwarded from a snow-bound friend in Washington
December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea Ive ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.
December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, well definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says well have so much snow by the end of winter, that Ill never want to see snow again. I dont think thats possible. Bob is such a nice man. Im glad hes our neighbor.
December 14
Snow, lovely snow! 8 last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didnt realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but Ill certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldnt huff and puff so.
December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4×4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wifes car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think thats silly. We arent in Alaska, after all.
December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.
December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I shouldve bought a wood stove, but wont admit it to her. God I hate it when shes right. I cant believe Im freezing to death in my own living room.
December 20
Electricitys back on, but had another 14 of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Goddamn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said theyre too busy playing hockey. I think theyre lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and theyre out. Might have another shipment in March. I think theyre lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think hes lying.
December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and its so cold it probably wont melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says hes too busy. I think the asshole is lying.
December 23
Only 2 of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she … nuts??? Why didnt she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think shes damn well lying.
December 24
6. Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snowplow, Ill drag him through the snow by his balls. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where Ive just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the goddamn snowplow.
December 25
Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the !=3D@x@!x!x1 slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel.
December 26
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. Shes really getting on my nerves.
December 28
Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. THE BITCH is driving me crazy!!!
December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. Thats the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?
December 30
Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother . 9 predicted.
December 31
Set fire to whats left of the house. No more shoveling.
January 8
I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

OT Pathetic Sox just gave up an inside the park homerun to tie the game in the ninth 9-9...a multitude of errors...bush league...
Center fielder (Renfro) tries to catch the ball as opposed to playing it off the wall (somewhat valiant effort, though foolish, would have been a single if he just played it off the wall), right and left field did not come over to back him up...naptime I guess...an infielder comes out to get the ball, bobbles it...then bad throw to home, no cutoff/relay...wow...
Ground rule double by Shaw, walk to Verdugo...Vazquez pathetic bunt attempt pops up to catcher, one out...
Double play...extra innings...lame...two on with no outs, get nothing...
Tampa Bay scores 2 in top of the 10th...blew a six run lead...I am out...
Edit: Sox score 1, load the bases, hit into double play...lose 10-11...at home on Labor Day, lovely...
