I wouldnt have wanted Aldridge, I think Horford is better at this point. And I dont think Aldridge can play much PF anymore. But that doesnt mean I wanted to see him go to the nets. It's been a couple of years since I've seen LA make a positive impact, and they (spurs) didn't win the game. Stranger things have happened, but I'll be shocked if he has a good season. He can probably still shoot and rebound based purely on his size. But I bet most of the athleticism and lateral mobility is gone. If he was on the Celtics, Id prob have him fourth on the depth chart at both PF and C behind RWill, Horford, and Kanter at C (but in front of GWill), and behind Tatum, Gwill, and Horford at PF (but in front of Parker). I dont think he'd have much of an avenue to playing time (assuming fully healthy).

Lakers and Nets better hope nothing happens to any of their stars, because the rest of the team should be in an old folks home! If by "stars" you mean Durant (regarding the nets). I can see a championship with Durant and one of Kyrie/Harden (if the other goes down). I cant see it with just Kyrie and Harden, and the rest of the roster (but no Durant). Its like the Bucks, if Giannis goes down - you're still better than most teams, but its an extremely tall order to win it all without Giannis. If Middleton goes down, sure that hurts their chances, but its not an immediate "write this team off"

Bucks need both, and nets will need all three.
On the hernangomez trade, isn't he sort of redundant with Kanter?
Bye bye, carson!

Hernangomez can play the PF so I think it's a good deal. Dunn and Edwards were more redundant.

Juan is actually a good fit. He's more of a PF then a C. He doesnt post up much, and his interior scoring needs work. Doesnt have great moves nor is he much of a banger. But he moves very well for 6-9 and can handle switches on D and defends the P&R well. He's been working on his shooting, with mixed results. He can shoot a bit, I assume. But looking at the FT%, I wouldnt say he's a "touch guy"

Kyrie/Harden are the shoulders. Durant is by far the best basketball player on the planet. Nobody, at present, is in his league. Remember he took the Bucks to game 7 OT practically by himself. Harden and Kyrie were both hurt. One wasnt playing, the other was playing poorly but they were both hurt and Joe Harris was ice cold that entire series. And Durant still took the Bucks (all 3 of their big 3 played well) to a game 7 overtime. Durant is a monster. Not particularly likeable, not a great leader. Actually, kind of shit for a leader. But pure basketball talent - he's in a league of 1 right now.

What the heck is the point of a 2026 second round pick swap, lol
How the heck does anyone know whose 2026 pick will be better. I could understand an option to swap, giving one side the guarantee that they'll have the better second round pick.

A consolidating trade that brings us a PF ... NICE!
Grizzlies To Trade Hernangomez To Celtics For Dunn, Edwards, Pick Swap by Luke Adams
The Grizzlies and Celtics have agreed to a trade that will send forward Juan Hernangomez to Boston, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (via Twitter). Sources tell Wojnarowski that the deal will send Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards, and a 2026 second-round pick swap to Memphis.
The trade can’t be completed until September 15, when the aggregation restriction on Dunn lifts, according to Wojnarowski (Twitter link). Dunn was traded from Atlanta to Boston on August 7.
By trading two players for one, the Celtics will clear a minor roster crunch. The team had been carrying 16 players, including 15 on fully guaranteed deals. This move will give the team the flexibility to keep Jabari Parker on its regular-season roster or leave its 15th spot open to start the season. Dunn, acquired last month, wasn’t in the team’s plans, and Edwards hadn’t evolved into a reliable rotation player since being selected 33rd overall in the 2019 draft.
Hernangomez, meanwhile, will give Boston another frontcourt option. The 25-year-old stretch four had a mediocre year in 2020/21, averaging 7.2 PPG and 3.9 RPG on .435/.327/.619 shooting in 52 games (17.3 MPG). However, he has flashed some potential in the past, making 35.9% of his career three-pointers prior to last season.

Celtics were gonna pick Juan in 2016 with #16 for a draft & stash but the Nuggets picked him just ahead of us with #15 resulting in the YaBusele selection ... What goes around, comes around. Brad fixes another Danny slip-up!
BTW, his brother Willy was drafted by the Knicks in 2016, traded to Hornets in 2018 and signed with Pels in 2020. He's 2 yrs older than Juan and 2 inched tall at 6'11."
Juan looks like the next Theis ... same frame, length and shooting characteristics ... hope he's as good or better!

He has better footspeed than Theis. Theis had decent footspeed for a C but Juan has decent footspeed for a PF and thats a higher bar. But I agree they are similar. Theis was a better rim protector, but thats okay because Juan will prob always be out there with a center. Hey at least we have the option to give Tatum a rest and not have to play 3 guards.

I don't think so ... he's a career 36% from three shooter:

You lost me. How is this a Danny "slip-up"? Other than taking the Dancing Bear, YOU said, they were going to take him to draft and stash, but the Nugs picked him just ahead of us.............how is that slip up? They were going to stash whoever they picked either way......still mad at Danny, but I don't think this is a fair criticism

I had to laugh as one article said the Celtics inch closer to getting under the tax line with this trade. then I look ad his salary and realized Boston is ADDING to the over all salary (slightly) with this deal. pet peeve of mine is when supposedly professional writers get shit WRONG, do you job.
well at least Juan's last year in non-guaranteed.
who knows maybe he can challenge grant for the 10th spot in the rotation, but he hasn't done much in the 5 years he's been in the league to date.
If this means Parker is sticking around, that's a minus for me, as that would be SEVEN roster spots for bigs: Rob, Al, kanter, Grant, Juan, Bruno and Parker!
down to just 3 ballhandlers now too, with Smart, Schroder and Pritchard.
I hope Stevens can dump Parker and bring in an additional BH now.

He had no backup plan if Juan was picked by another team and was forced to choose Yabusele who was a 2nd round pick by all accounts as he needed a draft & stash but had nobody else to go to.
All he had to do was move up a few spots to get who he wanted but DA as usual was too cheap.

Romeo can handle the ball in an emergency, and we can always call up that kid we just drafted if someone goes down for a period of time. That being said, I wouldnt be against cutting Jabari at this point and bringing Waters back. Waters is tiny, and ppl hate that - but I like his compete level. He's a max effort always kind of guy, and I think if nothing else - thats a good guy to have for practice. Practice intensity is contagious. And I have a feeling that the intensity level of our practices could use a boost. Part of that is Brad - because the dude is just the opposite of "intense" which is good in some ways and bad in some ways (my opinion). In any case, I dont see Jabari sticking around now.
