This morning I read that the Bulls, Jazz and Bucks have all rebuffed offers from the Celtics for Butler, Hayward, Middleton and Jabari Parker. Ryen Russilo is reporting that the sentiment around the league is that the Celtics don't have any players that teams want. That's very disheartening but, realistically, I can see that. If we're unable to get an elite player by the time the draft starts, we should trade the #3 to Philly for Okafor - one for one. Whoever we pick at #3, they are not better now nor will they ever be better than Okafor (or Noel).
It's a bit disappointing to see this rebuild continue to stall on draft night, at the FA signing period and at the trade deadline because DA is unable to acquire what this team needs. What good is acquiring assets that you cannot leverage to improve your team? What good is it to stockpile draft picks if you continue to select players who cannot contribute or show a skillset that other teams would place value on? I'd much rather the Celtics have Okafor tomorrow night than Jaylen Brown.

The national media picked up on an article from Comcast NE. The Celtics could trade with Milwaukee if they took Monroe. They could trade for Butler with the #3, next years Bkn pick, Bradley and more.
The main targets that Comcast NE also reported on and wasn't picked up on was Noel and Okafor.
There is no stalling, it's just the usual crappy national media reports. If Wojo prints something like that, then I give it cred, not Mr Ryan Self Important Russilo.

croc, when I say stalling, I'm referring to milestones such as the draft, FA signing period and trade deadline passing and not seeing deals made for "players" who are going to be instrumental in taking this franchise to the next level (by their play or trade-ability). The Celtics cannot be afraid to deal some of our excess for a Jimmy Butler. You have to give up something to acquire that elite player.
We cannot continue to overvalue the BKN picks when we can use them to acquire that "next level" player(s). It starts with ONE. What realistically will the value of the BKN picks be a year or two from now? I'd gladly trade those away for a player like Butler. I'd gladly give this year's #3, next year's BKN pick and Bradley for Butler. You have to give up alot to get alot.
If we can entertain acquiring Okafor, then we should have no problem acquiring Monroe, IF it includes Middleton. I'd rather have Monroe ($17M next season and a player option after that) than Amir Johnson and Jerebko, if we got Middleton too. Players like Butler, Middleton and even Monroe are better than the players we currently have at those positions. They are better than any player we could draft this year too.
This would be a much better team with Middleton, Monroe and Butler instead of Amir, Jerebko, Bradley, our #3 this year and BKN's pick next. IT, Middleton, Butler, Monroe and Zeller would be a much better lineup than what we put on the court last season.

No on Butler, yes on Monroe and Middleton

I'd take that trade too, since Crowder seems to be developing nicely for now at SF. Although I truly believe Crowder is a long-term backup, he's not as much of an upgrade priority as we need at the SG and big positions. However, we're much better with Butler too, being a better two way player than any of the players even being considered.

You should work for the celtics front office, since you already "know" anyone at 3 won't be better than either Philly big man or anyone, for that matter.

I also read we were rebuffed for Noel. I don't think PHI wants to trade with us, being in the same division. BUT, they may not have a choice. If no one else makes an offer for Noel, they should accept our offer. I like Middleton, but not Monroe, although, like Petey said, he is better than what we have. Butler will not be traded, and even if he is, not to us, so it's moot in my mind to talk about Jimmy Butler. Hayward is more realistic, for a number of reasons.

No thanks on the 3 for either....unless its maybe straight up. However, if we could do a couple players and 16 & 23 for noel or okafor and the 24 & 26, that I'd be interested in.

Posted this earlier - I guess it didn't take. I read it wrong. Comes from trying to teach summer school and keep abreast of important things like the draft at the same time. My bad on this - but, PHI may not have a choice very soon. We know they want Dunn or Murray, so perhaps we are holding out for a Covington or a Saric, or, as someone just mentioned - swapping draft picks.

The flash before the Felger show said that per a report the C's were close to obtaining Haywood, but needed to add more. Haywood is a very, very good established player and went to school under Stevens. Felger and the Mazzhole went on to complain about 'DA not getting it done' ignoring the report.

Utah has just traded the #12 pick to ATL for George Hill, with Jeff Teague going to IND. That's two Eastern teams that made moves before us - yikes!

The bad news is Butler ain't going no where, the good new is the Knicks got Mr Injury, DNP. I dunno but the C's are in great position for Haywood who wants out. With Stevens coaching they have a great chance to retain him. If Haywood is moved he might be the best player traded. If the consolation prize is Noel, I'm okay with that.

Thnx ... ESPN.com reported late Tuesday night that the Celtics are trying hard to trade the third pick, and Hayward was one of the players they were interested in acquiring. However, the ESPN.com report indicated that the Celtics — and a handful of other teams — were told Utah wasn’t looking to move the player. So, we’re either dealing with conflicting reports or the situation recently changed. UPDATE (10:30 a.m. ET): It appears Hayward might not be going anywhere after all, as Jody Genesy of Salt Lake City’s Deseret News refuted Geltzeiler’s report in a series of tweets Wednesday morning. Jody Genessy @djjazzyjody A source says Gordon Hayward has been "terrific" and insists there is no truth to the rumor that he has demanded a trade or will be traded. Jody Genessy @djjazzyjody I've contacted multiple sources in the Jazz and who know Gordon Hayward. That trade rumor has zero merit. 10:25 AM - 22 Jun 2016 Read more at: nesn.com/2016/06/nba-trade-rumors-gordon-hayward-wants-out-jazz-actively-shopping-him/

I'd be very happy with Noel. In contrast to the Felger's of the world, these are exciting times. I think they trade the pick and sign a decent FA.

Well if ya believe all the hype it looks like Phila is the only team willing to trade us. I think Ainge is playing hardball because he knows the sixers want Dunn really bad He wany Phils to throw in a player or pick instead of a straight up deal for Okafor and maybe Noel. The more i think about it i believe it's Okafor not Noel headed our way.

Would Okafor be an improvement over what's there now??? Same referring to Noel....?? The Celts have a lot of players that are the same.. Nice reserves, but no potential stars.... Do the damn deal already
