I don't think Love is much of a fit right now. They need a rim defender and overall defensive presence, more than someone who can rebound, shoot in the paint, and maybe when he feels like it play D that's why for some crazy reason..dwight howard will be ainge's sign? i still think we trade for butler sign howard and ryan anderson and we still sign j.dudley...it's crazy but that would do damage. I am not sure Danny can work the numbers for Howard ($20M plus), Anderson ( $15M plus) and Dudley ( $6-8M) plus the cost of Butler ( $16M salary).
But, I do believe that Butler , Howard and Dudley could all fit.
assuming Bradley and #3 would be the main pieces for get Butler ( about $4M in additional salary), we'd be somewhere about $80M in salary.
renouncing all three FA's ( Turner, Sully and Zeller) would give us enough room to sign both Howard and Dudley.
we'd still have picks 16,23 and probably 35 at least.

Exciting times, boys. As Chad Ford said, we control the whole draft.

What if they obtained Noel, signed Howard and drafted Brown, while giving up picks and Smart?

What if they obtained Noel, signed Howard and drafted Brown, while giving up picks and Smart? yeah we could do that...but if we traded smart...i would love to draft Dunn instead of brown? i'm on the fence on dunn and brown right now...if we keep the #3 pick i want one of them.

couldn't happen. Noel is not going out for less than the 3rd pick, which would be brown. Also, why trade for Noel if you are signing Howard? Similar players, neither is a PF. If we trade the 3rd pick, I would prefer Okafor, but if we get Noel, fine. At that point we focus on obtaining either a small or power forward.

Without guessing what Noel would cost (although the writer in the above Pilly article suggests Okafor and Noel are less than you think), Noel is the rim defender and better overall defensive player. Howard is more similar to Okafor an offensive force first, then a defender. It's been suggested over and over Howard's 'failures' have been because he hasn't been a focal point of the offense since leaving Orlando. Howard being better than Okafor by quite a bit.

Hahaha ... I hope someone other than us falls in love with Hield. I can be satisfied with Murray, Brown or Dunn and learn to live with Chriss or even Bender but I'm no fan of Hield. I'd LOVE to see Mitch/Jimmy take Hield over Ingram .... PLEASE!!!!

Croc- No disrespect meant, but in no way would I consider Howard an offensive force first. I would consider him an elite rebounder and a good rim protector with a limited offensive game, similar to Noel. Okafor is a good, maybe someday great scorer, who has a lot to learn about protecting the rim...

I think he'd play really well for them, but it would be huge to see Ingram fall to #3. We can hope, right?

Okafor is a good, maybe someday great scorer, who has a lot to learn about protecting the rim... Howard averaged about 20 points a game while with Orlando his last 5 years. He averaged 16 with Houston going down each year, only 13.7 last year. He wants to be a central part of the offense again. That's one reason Boston might make sense. Offense (Howard's that is) intended.

well, if we are talking about Noel then how about Cauley-Stein from the Kings? to me there are similar players but Noel will be in the final year of his rookie year.
Rondo has burned his bridges there and they may be licking their chops for Dunn. With the #8 pick they have little chance to get him without moving up.
we can send them #3,16 and maybe 35 picks (their second round pick is late (#59).
we get WCS and #8 pick.
I don't know if that would be enough to persuade Divac as some feel WCS is their second best asset right now.
BUt if Danny can't get Butler or another "star" player, I would consider a trade like this as an option.
some players who may be there at #8?
Brown- picked #9 at both draftroom and draftnet's recent mocks Poeitl Skal D. Davis- I like him but he might be too similar to WCS Ellenson Sabonis
so I guess it would get down to
is WCS and one of the rookies above worth the #3 and 16 picks this year.

Putting the hypotheticals down for a minute. They may not have any shot at Love or Howard. A FA will likely be a second tier player. Howard is rumored to want back in with Orlando. Realistically Philly would rather trade Okafor than Noel. Okafor and a second tier FA might be the additions for 2017

Okafor and a second tier FA (Parsons?) is not a terrible off season. You still have picks 16 and 23. Upgrade at center and SF, basically the same backcourt, still not sure about PF. In theory you have improved a 48 win team. On paper anyway. Let's be honest. We are not getting Durant. This is not a great free agent class. ( i dont count lebron, he is not going anywhere)

This morning's Tim Welsh report says "Philly is pushing hard to get Dunn" and "Philly wants to make a trade with Boston for our 3rd pick prior to Thursday's draft" and "Philly is in Providence telling Dunn's camp that they're making every effort to get him".
So what are we waiting for then?
I think today is Dragan Bender's workout day. Maybe afterwards, the C's braintrust flips a coin to decide if we're keeping or trading the pick? And if it's tails, are we agreeing to trade for OKAFOR TONIGHT?!
I'm guessing that DA is going to declare tomorrow Last Call for the 3rd pick. And although I don't think we'll deal our 3rd pick today...drum roll...I think we're trading the 3rd pick, tomorrow, Wednesday, the day before the draft..and we'll all enjoy the draft that much comfortably on Thursday night.
If you cannot tell already, I'm 100% on board with trading for Okafor. Okafor dominated the NCAA last year. Okafor averaged more points in his rookie year in the NBA, than 'scorers' like Jaylen Brown averaged in college. Okafor would be the #1 pick if he was in this year's draft.

Here's the Welsh video: www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/tim-welsh-nerlens-noel-jahlil-okafor-in-play-in-possible-boston-celtics-philadelphia-76ers-deal-for-no-3-pick?guid=WelshLE0620&t=12I think the C's are holding out for a trade that brings them a star player first. Secondly, I think (from what I've read and it makes sense) the C's prefer Noel over Okafor and if Philly decides to do that then it's a viable option otherwise the C's can just take Dunn with the pick and trade or keep him. Why not wait and see if Denver, Phoenix, NOLA, Sacramento or even Minny make an offer involving a swap of picks with a sweetener? Dunn is most likely the best player after Simmons & Ingram so DA holds all the cards. PS: Sixers have committed to Simmons at #1 today

If we trade the pick, please let it be for Okafor. Noel is no more then a role player. Danny's got to be smarter then wanting Noel over Okafor!!
