Lillard just requested a trade!
So Blazers have to take Lowry & Robinson as compensation to make the deal work with picks ... Yuck!
POR would be better off dealing with the Nets.
Per hoopsrumors:
A Miami offer for Lillard would almost certainly include at least two of Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry, and Duncan Robinson. The Heat also have at least two tradable future first-round picks (2028 and 2030) and could sweeten their offer by attaching young prospects such as Nikola Jovic or 2023 first-rounder Jaime Jaquez, or a veteran on a team-friendly contract like Caleb Martin.
He has 3 more years left on his contract, it's not like he has leverage. The Nets and Sixers can make better offers than the Heat.

Spurs can make a better offer
BKN can probably make a better offer
Heat are not the only game in town.
If I'm the Blazers, I start with Herro and Bam, and go from there. For God's sake, Gobert was worth FOUR FRDP's!! This is an all-time Blazer player...........I would ask for the moon!!

Roster as it stands right now ... We have 12 players but two are non-guaranteed (Champagnie & Kornet). Champagnie could be rescinded and resigned to one of three 2-ways if need be along with JD Davison, the draft pick (Walsh) or maybe Yam Madar, or even a SL player like Azubuike or Olek Balcerowsk. Kornet is a Brad fav but we could use an upgrade there but only a few options are viable now so I'd use roster spot #13 to keep Kabengele (PF/C).
I'm assuming we don't match any offer sheet to Grant and try to S&T him for a 2nd Rd Pick and a sizable TPE ($12-15mm) to be used for another trade or waiver wire pickup when teams start dumping contracts due to the new CBA. I also reduced the cap hold on Griffin. I've added Kabengele to the roster as #13 at VM and added another 2-way for the full 3 now allowed. Net affect, I have reduced the cap holds by $11mm.
Avoiding a hard cap means we won't use the MLE or take back any players in any S&T involved in ... but we can take picks and TPE. Those other TPE's are worthless when the VM is $3.5mm.
Our revised Total Cap Allocation has been reduced from $194mm to $183mm with the Super-Tax Apron at $183mm.
We have two roster spots left (may leave #15 open for future use but use some TPE or VM for #14) and three 2-ways filled with Davison & Walsh with the 3rd for possibly Madar or another Big from the SL teams.
I'd still like to use the newly created TPE ($12-15mm) for a Wing like Miles Bridge but unfortunately he's a RFA and would have to be a S&T and we can't do that ... but there's always Jalen McDaniels or Torrey Craig and who knows what crops up come October.

Anyone know the ramifications here (can they afford it? I thought they were over the cap)

Yeah, lol. That package sucks. 2 bad contracts, 2 firsts from 5-7 years in the future, and a prospect (Jaquez) that they wouldnt have chosen themselves had they got to make the pick at 19 They can trade him where ever. That is a shtty offer. ...Portland may want to do right by Dame, but that's not right for them...So "where else do you want to be?"

Doesn't matter ... they have a non-taxpayer MLE for $12.5mm and they only have $95mm in committed salaries with $85mm in cap holds including players they could rescind, sign or trade to help get under the cap.
Edit: You heard it here 1st

Looks like it take a third team to get Dame to the Heat.
Now, again, I don't understand why teams want to help Pat Riley.
As far as CHA goes, the article posted by the Boss said it "might be" a bluff for PJ Washington. I hope it is. If anyone gives Grant an offer sheet, I hope it's a team over the cap. I don't want to lose him for nothing. I actually would like to retain him, once his market bottoms out.

The Villanova New York Wilcat Knicks just signed Donte to a 4 year deal.
Knicks, Donte DiVincenzo Agree To Four-Year Deal by Luke Adams
Donte DiVincenzo is headed to New York, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link), who hears from agent Jason Glushon that DiVincenzo has agreed to sign a four-year, $50MM contract with the Knicks.
The Knicks are over the cap, so they’ll sign DiVincenzo using the mid-level exception. The deal will reunite the former Villanova Wildcat with his college teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.
DiVincenzo became a free agent this week after deciding not to pick up a $4.7MM player option to remain in Golden State. The Warriors didn’t have the ability to make a competitive offer for him due to CBA restrictions, so he became one of the most popular mid-level targets on the open market.
The 26-year-old appeared in a career-high 72 games, including 36 starts, in 2022/23 after signing with the Warriors. He averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.3 minutes per game. The 6’4″ guard, who made a career-best 39.7% of his 3-point attempts, also played in 13 postseason games this spring.
DiVincenzo will be another option on the wing for head coach Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks, who are finalizing a deal to trade Obi Toppin to Indiana. That move will help open up additional room below the luxury tax, allowing New York to give more of its mid-level to DiVincenzo.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN (Twitter link), after accounting for DiVincenzo, New York’s team salary projects to be about $4MM below the tax line with 14 players under contract. As a result of using the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, the Knicks will be hard-capped at the $172.3MM tax apron in 2023/24.

He's long but those stats aren't great ... not even good. Another Raptor ... Champagnie, Brissett and now Banton? fillers. They won't play. We know that. Banton hasn't been signed though
Not yet anyway ... but as a 2-way eventually might happen
Rumored Boston Celtics free agent point guard target an ‘upside play’ by Andrew Hughes
Boston Celtics free agent target Dalano Banton recently met with the franchise per Rafael Barlowe — and according to Celtics Wire’s Justin Quinn, would be a high-upside play as opposed to a surefire signing of a rotation player.
“Banton’s height stands out as the primary attraction,” Quinn prefaced before saying, “Otherwise, such a signing would be an upside play given the Canadian point guard averaged 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game with Toronto last season in 9 minutes of floor time while shooting 42.3% overall, 29.4% from 3 and 70.8% from the line.”
At six-foot-nine and with a six-foot-10 wingspan, Banton is a perfect player in the era of positionless basketball, especially at his position. The ultra-big lineup concept Brad Stevens mentioned in the wake of the Kristaps Porzingis trade — one that would feature Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Porzingis at the 3, Al Horford, and Robert Williams III — could make sense welcoming in the Toronto Raptors free agent to supersize it even further.
Dalano Banton could be a two-way contract target for the Boston Celtics
Banton didn’t put up spectacular stats during his two seasons in the Great White North, making him far from a shoo-in for a guaranteed contract during the 2023-24 season following the Raptors’ renouncing of his rights to make him an unrestricted free agent.
The Boston Celtics should be looking to add Banton on a two-way contract, given the way he handled assignments down in the G-League.
“Just kinda understanding circumstance and situation,” Banton said earlier this year on going up and down between the NBA and G-League (h/t Sportsnet). “Just knowing that I was set back with some injuries this year — so it’s never a downgrade, it’s never a punishment type of thing. Just going down there and staying professional and being ready for my name to get called.”
If Alex Barlow and the Maine Celtics could develop Banton’s raw skills, the Boston Celtics could have themselves a diamond in the rough on a low-risk arrangement.

Devincenzo 50 mil 4 years Knicks! Brooks 80 mil 4 years Rockets! That's why teams like this never win anything! thats why the teams that show patience will have good pieces available to them at depressed prices C's smart to sit and wait. let the market settle. players with out deals will opt for short deals on winning teams to re establish their worth
