I was annoyed by Ainge's "We need shooters" comment - there were some great shooters to be had at #3. Kind of awkward to say you need a shooter when the point of basketball is to score points.
That said I don't disagree with Ainge's assessment and don't disagree with the center comment either, Horford prefers to play the four.
Also worth adding: Ainge said he wasn't done dealing, that means trading pieces for pieces. Wyc (co-owner) said that asking prices on some players from draft night have come down. That means for center can't rule out Cousins from Sacremento or perhaps the Philly bigs.

Rumors again of Smart to ORL for Vucevic ... www.morningnewsusa.com/nba-trade-rumors-boston-celtics-acquire-nikola-vucevic-marcus-smart-2388274.htmlThe Magic recently acquired power forward Serge Ibaka in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Many thought the move would help Vucevic blossom into the team’s franchise center. However, the Magic soon reached an agreement with Toronto Raptors center Bismack Biyombo for a four-year, $72 million deal, as per Sports Illustrated.
The arrival of Biyombo would give the Magic another above-average rim protector, but it also raises questions about Vucevic’s future. Will the team’s leading scorer and rebounder last season start at center or will it be Biyombo, who is expected to make $6 million more per year than Vucevic?
Orlando Sentinel indicated that there’s a big chance the 7-foot Swiss would be traded before the start of 2016-17 season. New Magic head coach Frank Vogel is a defensive-minded coach and might prefer the frontcourt tandem of Ibaka and Biyombo.
The Magic can bench Vucevic, but that wouldn’t be a good situation for both parties. It would be best if the team trades away his four-year, $48 million contract in order to get players who fit Frank Vogel’s style of play.
According to Hardwood Houdini, the Celtics could pluck Vucevic out of his misery by trading for him in exchange for one of the team’s surplus talents. The addition of University of California standout Jaylen Brown to the Celtics has turned Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart into tradeable assets.

Lot of talk about DeMarcus Cousins tonight ehh?
He also reiterates the C's were Durant's second choice.

As I had been saying....OKC was out

Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck just said on @985thesportshub that he believes the Celtics were in the final 2 for KD and OKC was out.....

For all the talk about shooters and strong Bigs, DA spends approx 19 million on 2 subs that can't do,either.....
Better yet, he's stuck with a non shooter Sully and a weak center in Big Z...
Oh well, there's still time..

Read today that 27 yr old Colton Iverson may come over from Turkey to be an energy guy off the bench. Kind of like it!! I would love for Iverson to finally make an impact on this team. He seems like he could be a Perkins type guy...maybe not quite as good as an Adams, but a big bodied guy who's not afraid to throw his weight around. I also don't hate the Vucevic idea for rebounding and offense. I'd have to think about it a long time, as I really am a fan of Smart (as incomplete a player as he is), but with Rozier turning heads, and Jackson being a first round talent, something is going to have to give in the back-court over the next year and change.

Celts have a surplus at a couple of positions and they will be used to acquire more talented scorers or bigs... Don't know if Cousins is available, but if he is get him ... That make the team a contender...
Second choice woukd be Okafor as he will score and BS can teach him better D...
Rumors on both say price has been reduced

Horford's introduction was very impressive. He'd rub off well on anyone they could bring in. I'm thinking Horford might teach Okafor just as much. But, I haven't seen his name since the draft.
Cousins would cost a lot, maybe too much. It's quite possibly Vucevic they have their eyes on

I don't want to lose Brown for Okafor type players. He may be a star down the road. If the return is all-star player, hard choice but will let him go.

Brown's athleticism must be maintained...plus he's a smart guy...we need a team with athletic smart guys with tough attitudes....he's a winner and a keeper...he has to stay! I'd love to keep Smart too, but the way he fouls stupidly sometimes.....
