If the team drafts my replacement. I'd shoot my way out. Do the DeBartolo's want to spend $25m on a guy who doesn't want to be there? When they could either trade him for a decent return or drop him for $2M. There are cheaper vet options (that I hope the Pats explore too.)
They can deal him when they want. They have up to the fisrt day of the season before his salary kicks in. They'll get less as time goes on, and never more than circa the draft.
Jimmy is most likely traded. That does not mean it's to the Pats. DC and Denver are sniffing around every QB option. The Bears were too, but Robinson's tag takes makes them a real long shot. They are barely above the cap now. Pats have ~$16M in cap and could make JG work with some re-do's.

Pro-ready ... does he start ahead of Cam or will it be a competition?

He won't start ahead of Cam now. I'd wager on a 'competition'. BB always sits or limit skill players year one. Cam is going to have to get injured or be twice as putrid as last year. I'd talk to JVille about a deal. Cam for Minshew. Cam is much closer to Trevor in style and Minshew is closer to Jones. Pats pick up some money to balance it out and add a 4th rounder. ...BB won't do that. Like the Barmore and Perkins pick ups. They will both help the pass rush. Barmore is a force in the middle. I still would have taken RB Carter to replace White next year. Perkins and Wino are redundant. Wino is likely gone in a deal.

Well, we just got Stevenson in the 4th and he sounds impressive enough ... a big boy that the Pats haven't had in awhile can run-stop, catch and bruise his way thru traffic with nitro to burn after breaking free.

Stevenson is a six-foot, 231-pound bowling ball of a back. He ran a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash, with better agility times at his Pro Day. Stevenson only took 165 carries in college, but can catch the ball and made an impact on special teams.
He led the Sooners with 665 rushing yards and seven touchdowns over six games last year. Stevenson’s season started after he completed a six-game suspension with Oklahoma linebacker and new Patriots edge defender Ronnie Perkins. Like Perkins, Stevenson a failed drug test in Dec. 2019. He transferred to Oklahoma in spring 2019 after starting for two years at Cerritos College in California.
NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah called Stevenson one of the best pass-protecting backs in the entire class. He is the heaviest running back the Patriots have drafted in the Bill Belichick era. Stevenson comes with some fumble concerns, though he figures to enter into a backfield rotation in New England.
He’ll join Damien Harris, Sony Michel, James White, Brandon Bolden and J.J. Taylor in the running backs room.
The Patriots’ remaining picks include one fifth-rounder (No. 177), two sixth-round selections (No. 188 and 197) and a seventh-rounder at 242th overall.

Stevenson is an RB I can see getting some action. It may be limited to short yardage at first, he should get more of a shot than Damien Harris got. He'd better not fumble or he'll ride the bench. They haven't had this type of player since Blount.

#177 Patriots, Cameron McGrone, LB, Michigan
Grade: B
Sideline to sideline speed specialist at the linebacker spot. Young and not super experienced. Flashed but wasn't overly consistent and didn't tap into coverage capabilities yet. New England had to get more athletic at LB.

#120. Patriots, Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, Oklahoma
Grade: C+
Big, bruiser with impressive quicks for a bigger back. Elusiveness is good, not great. Is this a need?
Admin: wonder if the grade is regarding need or fumble history because we really do need another RB with injuries and potential losses going forward

#38. Patriots: Christian Barmore, IDL, AlabamaGrade: B+ New England likes oversized defensive linemen and that's what Barmore is. Tall, heavy-handed pass-rushing specialist. Proper value for him here because his film is inconsistent. Will play many spots for Bill Belichick.
Note: Pats drafting from all top notch colleges ... a pleasant change ... Kraft seems to have made Bill respect their scouting reports to some degree and it's about time!

#15. Patriots: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
Grade: B
It's the perfect situation for him. He fits in the Josh McDaniels' offense.

I thought getting a replacement for White was a bigger need since they always redshirt those guys from Kevin Faulk on. They haven't had a bruiser since Blount and they have missed that more than once since. Cam was their short yardage gut last year. Him not getting in cost them vs Seattle and not picking up short yards hurt them times. ...Fears is still the RB coach and is very good about teaching ball security one reason the Pats are usually low in TOs. If he does turn it over too much he won't be a Pat long White's on a one year deal and is probably gone next year. Guess they go with a vet or worry about it then. BTW BB said McGrone may not be available after surgery. Sort of a draft and stash. Figures to be a Bentley type with hopefully a bit more speed.

They still need to sign Gilmore. They do that and the D goes a long way. D & ST created scoring opportunities in 2018 and 2019. That goes great with a run first O.
Wade is a raw talent, potential down the road.

Okay Cam is gone. Gilmore won't be back until at least week 6. They'll need another vet CB and a backup QB (hearing maybe Kyle Allen.)
