Time for the Celts to feel desperation, find a source of faith and just play. All is not lost yet. Seriously?...you are truly from India arent you?...love the folks from India and Pakistan...good grief...

They shot the ball up 123 times to our 100 so so what that we shot 50% to their 44. Big deal we out rebounded them by 3(41-38) but this really killed us 20TOs to 9.

What went right?
Kemba found his game. He bounced back with 23 points, looking good early and finishing strong in the fourth. Part of that might have been the reduced minutes (more on that momentarily).
Kanter gave them good minutes (at least in the first half). He was targeted in pick-and-rolls in the second half so he couldn’t play much.
What went wrong?
The 3rd quarter was putrid, again, for the Celtics. Stop me if you’ve heard this before: They fouled too much, stopped moving the ball, and made a ton of defensive mistakes. It’s probably time to stop asking them to stop doing this and wonder when in the game it’s going to happen and hope it’s early enough for them to recover.
The Celtics turned the ball over 19 times leading to 26 Miami points. They were really sloppy in the third, turning it over 7 times. There were stretches where they looked like they couldn’t even make the simple passes. Butler made two huge steals late.
The Celtics didn’t give up a ton of offensive rebounds, but Miami got some timely ones that were crushing.
Things we learned:
Kemba Walker’s fatigue was clearly a concern for Stevens. After playing him 43+ minutes in the last three games, Stevens dropped Walker down to his regular season minutes, leaving him out there for about 34 minutes.
Boston needs Gordon Hayward. They need a calming force in the midst of those collapses. Just someone who can hit a mid-range shot or make any kind of play or draw a defender.
You can’t let down against Miami. The[y] are more potent than the Raptors, and they’ll make teams pay for their mistakes. The sloppy turnovers, the lack of ball movement, and the missed shots will all lead to positive things for the Heat.

If Hayward does not return now we are toast. I mean we couldn’t take advantage of Smart’s 26 its the other night so tonight just about his average. How is everybody going to feel up 14 pts game 3? I hope we are not!

MOAR dissension in the locker room after the game just like after game 1 ... finger pointing isn't a cure and that means Brad is not playing the heavy and fixing problems. The reserved coach has an unreserved squad ... hmmm. Maybe that is what this Celts team needs. Like I said in Game 1, Celts have some growing up to do. This is part of the growing up process. Come on, Jayson is 22 and Jaylen is 23. There is no shortcut, young stars have to undergo something like this before they reach the ultimate goal.

Perk is concerned about outside influences affecting individual play. Aside from listening to family/teammates in the bubble, advice from outside the bubble s/b ignored. He says Miami only has themselves, no family to depend upon and are playing for each other. Sounds like that's a reference to JT talking with Irving on a regular basis and we know that the C's families are in the bubble (sans the coaches families) but I don't know that the Heat have locked their players' families out or not.
Some research:
The Miami Heat continue to approach the NBA’s bubble setting at Disney World as an extended business trip.
So, for now, visitation remains minimal.
With the start of the second round, each team was allocated up to 17 additional rooms in the league’s quarantine setting amid the coronavirus pandemic, with up to three visitors — either family or others with long-standing relationships — allowed per player.
Of that maximum of 51 guests, the Heat, according to a party familiar with the team’s approach, were expected to have about eight, although arrival dates can be staggered, based on quarantine requirements and testing results.

The Sixers didn't have the shooters to make the Celts pay.
That's why the Celts got away with Theis and Kanter at Center.
Toronto had an old Gasol and an Ibaka who kept shooting outside.
This time the lack of a better Center is hurting the Celts.

That's just noise. Celts just don't have the tools for the Zone. We've seen it in the regular season and we're seeing it now. Think about it, every time the Celts shoot well from 3, the Celts always have a lead against the Heat. It's when the Celts stop making 3s that the Heat come back.

The Heat were down by 17 in the second quarter and trailed by 13 at halftime.
They had been 0-21 in playoff games when trailing by at least that many at intermission. They're 1-21 now, and two wins away from their first NBA Finals since 2014.
"We like to make it hard on ourselves," Butler said. "We like being down double-digits and being the comeback kids.

There's no secret. Riley started this by signing Jimmy. Took Herro with the #13 pick. He then improved the team by getting Crowder and Iggy. You have a star in Jimmy, multiple shooters, and a very good Center in Bam. It's a very balanced team.

Celtics yelling, reportedly throwing things, in locker room after Game 2 loss to Heat (AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill) By John Karalis | JKaralis@masslive.com
Emotions erupted in the Boston Celtics locker room after their Game 2 loss to the Miami Heat, according to reporters in the bubble. Both the Globe’s Gary Washburn and ESPN’s Malika Andrews reported that there was yelling, swearing and throwing things.
“Guys were emotional after a hard game, hard loss,” Brad Stevens said after the game, but didn’t offer much else. Neither did the rest of his players.
When Kemba Walker was asked about it, he said, "It was nothing. It was nothing.” When he was asked a follow up about it, he added, “nothing happened in the locker room. I don’t know what you’re talking about, to be honest. We’ll be fine. We’ll be fine.”
Jayson Tatum also downplayed it.
“I don’t know who said that,” he said when asked about the argument. “I mean, we’re 0-2. I mean, we’re frustrated, but this is team sports. We’re not supposed to be happy we’re down 0-2, but nothing out of the ordinary, just talking about the game. It’s cool, got to get ready for the next one.”
The next one will come with the Celtics down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. This one followed a similar script as other Celtics playoff losses, with the Celtics blowing a 17 point lead, thanks to a 37-17 third quarter out of the Miami Heat. When the Celtics fought back to take a five point lead, 94-89, with 4:57 to go, Miami put together a 17-7 finish to the game.
Afterwards, Smart seemed to be the catalyst for a lot of locker room frustration. He did not speak to the media. Jaylen Brown is the only player who remotely acknowledged it.
“It really just, a lot of emotions just flying around,” He said. “Obviously we feel like we could have won, we should have won, but we didn’t. So just a lot of emotions flying around. That’s it.”
Emotions flying in locker rooms aren’t unusual, but it’s hard to say where this compares to what might normally happen after a frustrating loss. Locker rooms in home arenas aren’t as open as the temporary ones constructed on the Walt Disney World campus. The open nature of those allowed reporters to hear a lot, which is something Tatum didn’t seem to thrilled about.
“What happened in the locker room gotta stay in the locker room," he said. "We’re not supposed to come out here and talk about what we talked about as a team after a win or a loss. That’s why we go into the locker room and talk to each other, win or lose. So, that’s that.”

That's why before the restart I said anything's possible with this bubble setup.
Before the virus, nobody really expected the Heat and the Nuggets to be in the conference finals.
Great job by both teams.

We have 4 scorers but no shooter like Korver. Also true that the Celts have no competitive Center, you are right no that one. But having a shooter like Bertans would have helped in this series.

This could be the spark they need.

Right now there's no pressure on the Celts.
They have nothing to lose because they are now expected to lose in this series.
Maybe a miracle might happen.

The Celtics are done. I thought this series would go 7 games. It's not going 7. I would not be surprised if we got swept in 4.
We have NO ANSWER for the Heat, offensively or defensively. They are the better team and, honestly, they have better players.
Pat Riley did a wonderful job constructing this team. They look more like the GSW model than we do.
Nothing will change this series, including a less than 100% Gordon Hayward. The Heat have way too much for the Celtics.
But this will be a valuable experience for this the Celtics. This should be a valuable lesson for everyone, players, coach and DA.
DA needs to get the players best suited for BS's system. I'm already hearing a rumor that Hayward is gone to Houston for Gordon, Covington and a draft pick.

I think it has to do more with personnel. That's why I wanted Ainge to give up draft picks for Bertans. The only way to break a Zone Defense is to have shooters. Celts don't have a real shooter. Tatum, Brown, Kemba, and Hayward are all scorers, not shooters. well not really. In my playing days we beat zone by players moving and moving the ball. (claps) ....Movement. Without. The. Basketball.
