Yes they bounce back but Superstars aren't as inconsistent with as many bad games as good, especially at playoff time. Fierce, he's a great talent and an All-Star. He just isn't a "Superstar" yet ... stop pushing the issue and let Tatum grow into it on his own. Trying to convince poster/readers here isn't going to excelerate the process. Im w Fierce on this one. Top 5 player in NBA (already). I could argue top 1. Household name. Superstar. We're in the ECF and he's by far our most well known player. Hes a superstar among superstars. i hate ranking players when every season there is a different player going up or down the ladder. Why cant we wait for him to get a chip and do it for years to come before we can label anything? This applies to any player in the league. Is not like before that we had bird and magic doing it year after year after year. There is no rush on putting that label yet. Just my opinion though

Declaring that Tatum is not yet a superstar is simply not true.
Only superstars make 1st team All-NBA.
Telling me to stop saying Tatum is a superstar is not right because I'm being forced to adhere to a lie.
That's why I have to keep defending my position about Tatum's superstar status.
If it's a case of agree to disagree then fine.
But making me agree that Tatum is not a superstar is not something I can accept.

It's also not true Jayson Tatum is inconsistent.
He has scored 30-40 points in 6 out of the 15 playoff games this season.
In games where he scored 20 or more, Tatum has scored 20 or more, but under 30, in 6 games.
There are only 3 games where Tatum failed to score at least 20 points.
And there is no game where Tatum failed to score in double figures.
So how is that inconsistent?

Tatum for me is a superstar but superstars step up when they are not scoring points like Tatum usually does playoffs alone, Tatum has 4 games (of 15 total to date) of shooting under .333 and when he does so, his over all game tends to slip. 11 tremendous games and 4 under performing games is not inconsistent, but when shots are not falling, is Tatum making his team mates better and winning games in other ways? sometimes absolutely yes. sometimes no.

True. What's great about Tatum is he already reached superstar level at age 23. And he's going to get even better.

Great stat but with the caveat that most legends were 4 years in college. And also that Kobe was in the NBA at 17yrs

Yeah, Kobe drafted at the age of 17, but when the season started, he was already 18.

Tonight, we are going to need Tatum to perform like a superstar to win. We are going to need Brown to play the part too.
I'm tired of the Celtics NOT taking care of business. It's time to grow up, be mature, focused professionals. Let's go into MIA, play with some urgency, play 48 minutes as a team, and get the win.
I think every player should "be aggressive" at the opening tip. Let's not wait to be aggressive after we're down a lot.
Our core has been in several conference finals games and should know what to expect. Time to show it.

Hes a superstar among superstars.
So "most well known" makes him a "superstar?" I see, it's a popularity contest now.

This is why I feel Tatum is a Superstar. And, of course, I love it when he scores 40-50 pts. Some have said he is inconsistent scoring and it has been true; however, and I bring up Kobe again as in an earlier post, unfortunately in our loss in Game 7 vs Lakers 2010. Kobe only shot 6 for 24(I mean 1 out of 4) but he was 11 for 15 in foul shots. He was MVP shooting 25% but was appraised not just for shooting. Tatum in game 4 gave us a respectable 31 pts but only 17 points from shots as he shot 50% 8-16 but only one 3(1-7)=17 points but he drove to the basket when 3s not hitting and got 14-16 foul shots...similar game to Kobe. Also 8 rebs & 5 assists. Yup, he is a Superstar...Amen!

Odds are the refs will give Heat HCA and it will be a very frustrating night for the C's.
If we were to win tonight that would be a rare 2-in-a-row with the expectation of winning a 3rd at home the next game. That would be really unusual for playoffs but i'd love for this series to end this way.
I'm thinking the next 3 games go this way: L - W - W ... the 7th game will be reffed as a neutral site and anyone's game. Just like the Bucks series, we will have to win the final two games B2B to advance.

I think he's a superstar by any reasonable way you can define it.
