Still makes the most sense to trade the pick ... but here are my two scenarios for a trade or keeping the pick;
1) Keeping the pick > select Jamal Murray
2) Trading the pick > Call Colangelo he was hoping to pick Simmons #1 and Dunn #4 and offer him the #3 pick straight up for Okafor
Don't see KD going anywhere this summer and Butler/George/Cousins are low percentage trades at best. Philly needs Dunn and doesn't need Okafor ... a perfect match.

I would trade this pick for okafor in a second. this will get us murray or hield, another guard to add to the mix that wouldnt play much unless we traded a bunch of guys, eg smart, bradley, rozier. If we could turn this pick into okafor that would be amazing, but one way or the other I hope we can trade it for a useful player.

I was thinking the same thing after the lottery.....um....show.
I also Like Stauskas from Philly as a very good 3 point shooter.
I wonder what both would cost us?
Philly is looking for vet players now more than additional picks I think. so to get both may cost one of our younger players....Smart?
Smart and #3 pick for Okafor and Stauskas?
seems a bit heavy on Philly's side, but it would help fill our needs with young vets ready to play now.

Okafor and Embiid were both #3 picks, so I think either one could/should be had with this years #3

I guarantee you that embiid would NOT go #3 now. I would think we could get him for almost anything, unless he's a lot closer to ready than I've heard.

Yeah but even if, don't you want to see him play a few games before trading for him? That won't be possible if trading away a draft pick in June to get him. At least with Okafor we know what we're getting. |

It's going to cost more than the #3 for Okafor...trust me...probably next years Nets pick as well...then I'd try to turn Okafor into Cousins....then we'd be talking some real turkey....let's see if DA is a real GM

When Phoenix was ahead of us in the lottery race they were well connected to Bender as their pick by the media (who else was there or because of their connections?) so a deal with the Suns is not out of the question though I bet after the IT deal they will be more cautious in their dealings with DA. |

Who'd be better him or Gasol? I'd think the Suns wouldn't mind getting out from under that contract and we have Amir to get them out now! Sure, he's long in the tooth but seems healthy enough to go another 2-3 yrs. Do a pick swap with them just for positioning ... unless they want to talk Len or Warren. Teletovic (on their roster) is a FA as well and a good floor spacer ... |

Here's the thing, Philly is going to take Simmons. Ingram might be a better fit, but with all the hype surrounding him, no GM could really not take him. And who knows, he might be great. But then you have Okafor, Embiid, Noel, and Simmons. That is a bit of a logjam. I guess they will also have Saric to play the 3 this year. If they trade us Okafor for the #3, they have a 3 big man rotation and can get a whole new backcourt, whomever they like of Hield, Murray, and Dunn, as you know the lakers will take Ingram. While Okafor is a lot to give up, this is a move that makes sense for them. And for what it is worth, I wouldn't do it for Embiid. Too many unknowns there. This probably will not happen, but I think it makes sense for both teams.

If Chandler is healthy I take him over Horford as a more offensive low post player and the better rim protector. And yes, I do recall your man-love for Warren and it turned me into a fan as well. |

Trade it but if we keep it I like the 18 year 7 footer from over seas he won't bring anything probably for a couple years but I like the upside of an athletic big seems to be competitive from highlights I have seen from him but everything I have read he is a project.

and look at it as a philly fan. You would then have a starting 5 of say Simmons, Saric, Noel, Dunn, and Hield, with Embiid and Stauskas the first two off the bench, all seven of them top 10 picks and the oldest is 23. At the very least that is exciting to watch. Add to that the fact that they have about a trillion dollars to spend in free agency. No superstar is going there but if you overpay some quality vets on 2 or 3 year contracts, you could actually have a decent team sooner rather than later...
