Instead of opening the season hot as a pistol then petering out or being injured for the second half of the season, Clay Buchholz has done things in reverse this season ... starting slow, being injured, losing his starting job, sent to the bullpen after no trade happened but now after some success out of the pen, reinvigorated as a starter holding the O's to three hits and one run through 6-7 innings.
But enough about the man of clay ... let's take a look at "the Kid" in left field who decided the game with a 3-run homer!
Take a good look at that swing!
A lefty, ice in his veins no matter the pitch count, cool/calm/collected, open hips, eyes on the ball, scissor legs and landing on his front ankle ... all that's missing is two hands on the bat to finish his swing to the left shoulder and who'd he remind you older guys of ... at least somewhat?
NOooo .... Is senility setting in early? Let me jog your memories ...
Maybe???
Now compare a younger Splinter, sans the cap, sporting his fuller head of hair ...

'Where do yuh get all that power?' asks Jimmy Foxx, slugging first sacker of the Boston Red Sox (R) to slammer Ted Williams,
the Sox outfielder who, with a batting mark of .434, is leading the American League. Foxx is examining Williams' lean arm in
the locker room during a tilt with the Cleveland Indians here.
vs the current "Kid's" crop sans the ball cap ...
Still not working for ya???

Ok, he's no Ted Williams, but he's only got 25 games under his belt compared to Ted's full season of 149 ... Oh, and they both play/ed Left Field as well ...
There, I said it ...
