Draft Evaluation: Now that it's over let's check some of the "grades" given out on team picks and compare the Celtics Picks (30 & 54) to some of those recommended here but overlooked or passed on by Brad.
#30 Options vs Scheierman
Scheierman may be a "plug & play" pick at #30 and I trust Brad's BB knowledge and Drewski's opinion but to me this was the safe pick. I know lots are happy with the sure thing in round 1 and the development project in round 2 approach but for me you rarely get the opportunity this late in the draft to pick a potential HR like Ainge did with Jaylen Brown much higher in that draft. Look at the two picks below who were there for Brad and selected no sooner than the 2nd round opened! The Tyler Smith pick got the same grade as Brad's pick and the Mogbo pick got a higher grade! Enough said ...
Mogbo may go down in a few years as opportunity lost ... I hope Scheierman is as good as Drewski predicts and I am wrong about the #30 pick but I will be watching these two picks for sure although Scheierman does have my support. I hope he's better than I expect.
Though not graded as high as Mogbo, Smith did grade out the same as Scheierman so the proof will be in the pudding as to which one becomes the more important player to his team or as developed talent. Sure, we could use some depth at Wing with a sniper in training should we have to part with Hauser but Sam isn't gone yet and Brissett is. We are weak already at stretch 4-5 behind JT & Porgy with only Tillman & Horford. He's a lefty like Scheierman and a definite stretch4. Maybe not suited for stretch5 duty but having another JB type that can shoot the 3ball or explode for a flush would be some nice depth. Time will tell but like Mogbo, it's a case of opportunity lost!
We'll learn a little more when summer league starts.

A few more comparisons ... Am I being critical? You bet! That said I will always support the boys in Green but as some have said - forums are in the business of questioning and criticizing when appropriate and not just drinking the Kool-Aid.
Filipowski like Smith & Mogbo could have provided depth to our stretch5 situation behind Porgy & Al. He even graded out higher than Scheierman like Mogbo and stretch5's with three tools in their bag don't come along often. Watch this space!
If it was spacing and 3-ptrs you wanted, Larsson (look who picked him!) provides much the same as Scheierman and grades out the same (in the 2nd round!)
Worried about a replacement for the aging Horford or the injury prone Porgy? You just passed on a good one in Chomche at #54. Let's hope in the years to come we aren't saying "Car 54 where are you?" or "Watson, are you there?" Chomche is green right now but graded much higher than Watson. Again, I hope we don't regret bypassing this stretch4-5 for Anton's undersized PF game.

Scheierman will be weighed against Shead, Mogbo, Bona, Bronny & Chomche for me. If he’s not more impactful than these guys in 5 years(barring injury), avoidable missed opportunity.

Watson can't (or won't) dunk without a running start. ALWAYS A BAD SIGN TO ME for any player above 6-3! I will say I like his shooting touch. Nice hook shot, and floater. There, I said something nice about him. He seems like a 6-8 Jamal Murray. Just athletic enough with good offensive skill variety and efficiency.

You won't see Scheierman dunking often either ...

I would have been happy with any of those guys. Right now I'm happy with who we picked, a year from now I may change my mind!
