Shead on the wrong team could really cause us trouble.
I understand the attraction to Baylor though.
But he's 1 dimensional offensively.
I don't even know if he can play Sam Hauser level defense!

I really think this kid has patterned his game after Luka.
Not a bad thing.

No ups for dunking or blocks but the scouting report I posted from the Ringer says this about his defense:
Solid defender who puts in excellent effort and plays attentively. If his athleticism continues to progress, he’ll at least be serviceable.
MINUSES
He’s not a great athlete. He dunks only when he has space. And he’s limited defensively with heavy feet moving laterally.
Logged only 29 blocks in 162 collegiate games and averaged less than one steal per game.

Is that Eddie House calling the game at the 7 minute mark?

Hauser is very good defensively. I doubt this guy can beat him out of the rotation.

Celtics select Baylor Scheierman with No. 30 pick in 2024 NBA Draft

Brad Stevens made his first pick in the first round during his tenure as Celtics president of basketball operations on Wednesday night selecting Baylor Scheierman out of Creighton with the No. 30 overall pick.
Scheierman is one of the more seasoned players in the draft and he should slot into Boston’s depth chart right away on the wing behind Sam Hauser as another scoring threat off the bench.
Boston now has 12 players under contract for next season pending a couple of team options due this weekend. Boston also has the No. 54 overall pick to use during day two of the NBA Draft on Thursday.
Scheierman, 23, comes into the NBA ranks with plenty of collegiate experience. He spent five total seasons in college, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility afforded to players because of the pandemic. Notably, Scheierman fits the Celtics’ team as he was a stellar shooter throughout his career, finishing 39.0% on 3-pointers.

We can sign him to one more 2-Way. He's a keeper given two additional 2-Ways to be filled by 2nd rd picks (?)
Should have known Brad would pass on Tyler Smith since we didn't work him out. Besides that it was mentioned on ESPN that he didn't get an invite to the Green Room for players that could be selected in Rd 1.

Dont get me wrong. The kid looks tough. And i was expecting & hoping, we got a seasoned player on the older side. Not athletic but looks tough.

I think Brad likes this player, but also wanted to kick Hauser's agent in the nuts.
I like him better than Dadiet, did not expect him to still be there based on the mocks I saw.

The Big 5 need to miss time to ensure good health for a long playoff run.
I expect to see a ton of Baylor which would be great for his confidence.
We should try to be a 6th seed.
All we need to do is skip the play in.
6th seed, higher 1st round pick for cheaper bench depth, great health for a championship run.
He can play 1-5 offensively. Defensively......aaaaaaaah don't know!
Again, I don't care if playing him leads to road losses.

Scheierman was expected to be picked around there and Opie obviously liked him. Replaces SVI this coming season guys, so relax. Older guy means he may be able to play sooner.
we'll see what happens in future years then with the kid.

Give him catalyst (primary ballhandler) responsibilities Mazzulla. Don't just stand him in a corner! www.nba.com/celtics/news/sidebar-nbadraft-celtics-1st-round-pick-scheierman-very-excited-to-join-nba-champsSpeaking with Celtics.com shortly after hearing his name called at pick No. 30, Scheierman said that he hopes to complement Boston’s roster with his versatility, competitiveness, and eagerness to help the defending champs in any way possible. “My ability to affect the game in a lot of ways whether that’s rebounding, whether that’s passing, whether that’s shooting, or just all-out competing,” Scheierman said, listing off how he hopes to contribute in the future. “Obviously they have a great team already, just coming off a championship, and so I’m just excited to join the group, get to work, and try to impact any way that I can.” Scheierman isn’t exaggerating when he says he can impact the game in a lot of ways. He is the only player in Division I men’s history with at least 2,000 points, (2,233), 1,000 rebounds (1,256), 500 assists (580), and 300 three-pointers (356). He is just one of 11 players in college hoops history to score at least 1,000 points at two different DI schools (South Dakota State and Creighton). Many of those points were scored from beyond the 3-point arc, where the lefty shot 39.0 percent on 912 career attempts. Plus, he is the most prolific defensive-rebounder (1,114 defensive boards) at the DI level in at least a quarter of a century. Not bad for a 6-foot-6 wing. Scheierman is also a strong passer and playmaker. That should come as no surprise considering his well-rounded athletic background. Not only was he a hoops star at Aurora High School, but he also quarterbacked the football program to a Nebraska state title in 2018, throwing for nearly 4,000 yards with 59 touchdowns to go along with eight rushing touchdowns. He was born to compete, and he is ecstatic to join such a competitive professional sports organization with a rich winning history, one which he has held in high regard since he was a child. “Growing up, watching the Celtics win in ’08 with (Kevin) Garnett, (Paul) Pierce, and (Ray) Allen and then watching them win this year and them having the confidence to pick me. “They don’t just bring anybody into the organization, and so I’m very excited for the opportunity and just excited to get to work.”

OK Utah has pick #32 after Toronto.
would you trade #54 pick AND a future FIRST to Ainge for #32 to get Filpowski?
coming out of this draft with Scheierman and Filipowksi and being a team in the second apron for as far as we can see in the future, would kind of be a dream scenario.
Is Filipowksi > either Kornet or Tillman?

The more i watch of the guy, the more i like the pick. He has offensive moves like Jru Holiday. Like he goes in, thinks about a pass but instead scoops it in. We also have Walsh. Loooong kid. Hey Brad has done good afterall. Proved me wrong. Not that hard to do but good. Good stuff.

We got the championship and Brad keeps covering bases. This is looking really good. I bet you he gets another steal with the second rounder.
