Pistons To Waive Killian Hayes The seventh overall pick in the 2020 draft, Hayes entered the NBA with a reputation for being a solid defender and passer whose offensive game was a work in progress. That’s essentially still the case, as his shooting percentages have increased only marginally over the course of his four NBA seasons. www.hoopsrumors.com/

The Detroit Pistons are releasing 2021 No. 7 pick Killian Hayes
Avatar for 357Dust Did they fire Troy Weaver yet? How off can your scouting be - that kid is brutal - that is like the Pats taking N'keal Harry - they are heading in a better direction but for no team to want a kid that was the #7 pick - wow
Avatar for RobVersionOne wow. couldnt even trade him for a 2nd rd pick. must be something wrong with him as he isnt old.
Avatar for Onemoretimewithfeeling He just played 28 min had 8 pts and 9 assists. He can't be that bad. I have work obligations today so I am not up on all the trades, but maybe they had to make a roster spot, but still seems strange they can't find someone to take him for cash and a protected 2nd.
Avatar for sports_balls All I know about him is they put some of his lane floater attempts on Shaqtin. More than one I believe.
Avatar for 357Dust someone is going to take a flyer on him for free......

Detroit has waived House, Hayes and Joe Harris ... they need to waive 1 more for room to complete Knicks trade
Per hoopsrumors:
The Nets have agreed to a pair of trades today in which they’ll take back more players than they send out. Waiving Giles will allow them to complete one of those deals. They’ll have to cut one more player – either from their current roster or one of the incoming players in the first trade – in order to finalize the second transaction.

Celtics Trading Dalano Banton To Trail Blazers by Rory Maher
The Celtics have agreed to trade guard Dalano Banton to the Trail Blazers, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link), Boston will receive a top-55 protected 2027 second-round pick in the swap, so it’s essentially just a salary dump from the Celtics’ perspective.
Banton spent his first two NBA seasons with Toronto before signing with the Celtics last summer. Portland will hold a $2.2MM team option for the 24-year-old in 2024/25.
At 6’9″, Banton has terrific length for a guard, but he has struggled mightily with offensive efficiency, posting a career shooting line of .410/.254/.670, including just .373/.125/.800 in 24 games with Boston this season (7.1 minutes per night).
Celtics get Jayden Springer from the Sixers for a 2R
Edit: Conflicting news re Banton ...
C’s have traded for 76ers forward Jaden Springer for a second-round pick and Dalano Banton, which was first reported to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Springer, 21, will be some insurance for the Celtics for the rest of the season. They weren’t going to trade for a rotation-level player considering their talented roster. But now, they get to incorporate Springer, the 28th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Springer has averaged 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists for the 76ers in 32 games (one start) for them this season. He’ll likely have a similar role on the Celtics as not only a depth piece but also an intriguing young player.

Now this w/ no mention of Banton to Sixers ...The Sixers and Celtics have agreed to a trade that will send guard Jaden Springer to Boston in exchange for a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link). The 2024 second-rounder the 76ers are receiving will either be Chicago’s or New York’s, whichever is more favorable, per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer (Twitter link). Boston will acquire Springer using its $6.2MM traded player exception, tweets ESPN’s Bobby Marks. www.hoopsrumors.com/boston-celtics

Spotrac confirms the Banton trade to Portland for a pick ... he's gone in a separate trade from the Springer deal.
Shooting definitely not Springer's strong suit ... I prefer Banton's length over this 6'4" frame but apparently he's a strong defender disrupting opponents with steals and deflections. May be more useful than Banton come POs.

Springer can really play some defense! 6'4" very athletic, 21 years old, I like him better than Banton already!

Raptors Will Waive Spencer Dinwiddieby Luke AdamsThe Raptors don’t intend to keep veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie on their roster after acquiring him from Brooklyn. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link), Toronto will waive Dinwiddie before he plays in a game for Toronto. Dinwiddie is on an expiring contract and has a $1.5MM bonus in his contract if he appears in 50 games. He’s at 48 games now, so he would’ve locked that bonus in with two more appearances and the Raptors would prefer not to be on the hook for that money, since the point guard isn’t in their future plans. The deal that sent Dennis Schröder and Thaddeus Young was about creating more cap flexibility for the 2024 offseason by moving off of Schröder’s multiyear deal. It has been a down year so far for Dinwiddie, who averaged just 12.6 points per game on .391/.320/.781 in 48 games (all starts) for Brooklyn while logging 30.7 minutes per night. Those shooting percentages are well below his career rates and the scoring average is his lowest in a healthy season since he averaged 12.6 PPG in 2017/18. Still, he’s likely to generate plenty of interest on the buyout market, with the Lakers among the teams that might be a fit. Because Dinwiddie’s base salary of $18.9MM exceeds the mid-level exception, he’ll be ineligible to sign with the Celtics, Nuggets, Warriors, Clippers, Heat, Bucks, and Suns, whose team salaries are above the tax apron. He also won’t be permitted to rejoin the Nets. www.hoopsrumors.com/2024/02/raptors-will-waive-spencer-dinwiddie.html
