The Celtics have added another prominent name to Joe Mazzulla’s coaching staff. A team source confirmed to MassLive that veteran NBA head coach Jeff Van Gundy has been hired as a senior consultant for the upcoming season. Van Gundy will be working under basketball operations and splitting his time between Boston and Maine, Boston’s G-League affiliate, according to a source.

The Celtics have added another prominent name to Joe Mazzulla’s coaching staff. A team source confirmed to MassLive that veteran NBA head coach Jeff Van Gundy has been hired as a senior consultant for the upcoming season. Van Gundy will be working under basketball operations and splitting his time between Boston and Maine, Boston’s G-League affiliate, according to a source.
Perhaps the Cs hired JVG not to replace him but to keep a young coach vertical.... on track.
..... JVG will be the training wheels Mazz may need as he learns to keep from crashing.

Mazz has great mentors now. I hope it helps. The coach has more coaching than the players...What's next Mark Jackson? Brad has made it clear to Mazzulla, he expects a better defensive team this season. |

Brad has made it clear to Mazzulla, he expects a better defensive team this season. But Mazz was great last year.. Why would we need 3 coaches to coach him? Over play no doubt.. Almost made it to the finals with a shitty team... People forget. Mazzulla attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Rhode Island, where he made the all-state first team. Mazzulla won three state titles at Bishop Hendricken.... |
