Shaq served papers after lawyers saw him on TV set during Celtics-Heat game

Lawyers say they’ve been trying to track down Shaquille O’Neal for months to serve him papers as part of a class action lawsuit. On Tuesday, they did it, serving the Hall of Famer while he was working as a broadcaster during Game 4 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
The Moskowitz Law Firm confirmed to multiple outlets that it has served lawsuit papers to O’Neal as part of a class action lawsuit against FTX, a now-bankrupted cryptocurrency exchange. The firm sent statements to multiple outlets confirming that they served papers to O’Neal while he was working as a TV analyst for TNT’s “Inside the NBA.”
In a statement to Business Insider, lawyer Adam Moskowitz said that saw that O’Neal was working during Game 4 in Miami and planned to serve him there.
“We saw on Sunday that Shaq was announcing the Heat/Celtics game from the podium in our Arena and we also saw him walking around the arena a few times to go visit Pat Riley across the court,” Moskowitz said in his statement to Business Insider. “Therefore, we just planned to serve him at last night’s game.
“Our process server walked up to the platform, and you can see on TV, many Heat fans were standing right next to the TV booth and he saw Shaq and gave him both sets of papers,” the statement continued.
According to People, the firm claims that O’Neal had the process server kicked out of the arena. Coincidentally, the Heat’s home arena where the incident occurred, The Kaseya Center, was previously known as FTX Arena.
Lawyers have accused O’Neal of ducking process servers in the past, claiming that the Hall of Famer has “been running from us for months” in their attempts to deliver the complaint.
O’Neal is one of a number of celebrities and high-profile athletes -- such as Tom Brady -- who acted as a paid spokesperson for FTX and have since been tied into lawsuits against the company since its collapse.
