The Bee Gees summed it up perfectly ... all we wanted was to be "Stayin' Alive" for another day aka Game #7 and a chance to fulfill this teams destiny. Well, even though it shouldn't have been this difficult, hat tip to the players for digging in defensively and M & M for keeping the game within grasp until Tatum came out of hibernation to put his mark on this game and seal the victory.
The team and fans are surely celebrating but it's premature ... we haven't won anything yet! But go ahead, kick back and feel good about yourselves. Quite a feat to go on the road and beat the league's MVP under the pressure of an elimination game ... there's reason to celebrate this win so enjoy it for a few days and thanks for "Mr Blue Sky" back here in Boston. We have all let out a sigh of relief and can't wait for the newfound energy that a Game #7 in TD Garden promises.
Oh, and I was all over Tatum for his record setting three quarters of futile BB scoring (3pts) and imitation of Casper the Friendly Ghost. No player in NBA history has ever had just 3 pts or less through three quarters then single handily outscore the opponents entire team in the fourth quarter as Tatum did in this game. And he let the world know with his "Don't Forget About Me" post game comment that he is one of the Best Basketball Players in the World (despite his MVP race coming up short) but in a humble manner ...
Ahaa Jayson! Everybody wants to rule the world ... and your world is the NBA!
That said, come Sunday you'll have another chance to prove that you're "Bloody Well Right" and we all hope you do!
Go ahead, have yourself a 40 point night ... no, make it 50! Then you can trash talk Embiid and implore that MVP to "Take On Me!"
Personally, my near insanity has been replaced with a reborn sense of excitement so much so that rather than try to sleep last night I re-watched the game from 2-4am and then commentary on NBATV for awhile before they replayed it too. I must have wound down around 5am and must admit ... the "Good Vibrations" are BACK!
I don't want to look past Game #7 or even an ECF against what looks to be the Heat most likely but as we all know, the window has opened for the Celtics to revisit the Finals and take on whoever ... be it the Nuggets, Warriors or Lakers. So "Don't Stop Believing!"
Can't wait till Mother's Day ... want to hear the Garden from the KG & Pierce era or even Bird. Bring back the "Welcome to the Jungle" intro to visiting opponents for every home game!
