Grizzlie Adams had a stem cell injection on Wednesday as part of his treatment for a PCL sprain in his right knee that could sideline him for 4 weeks
Bulls guard Lonzo Ball may have to undergo a third surgical procedure on his injured knee ... that could mean 6mos of recovery & rehab
The Knicks will sign Moses Brown to a two-way contract:
The 23-year-old center began this season on a two-way contract with the Clippers. He appeared in 34 games, averaging 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per night, before being waived on February 17.
New York will be the sixth team for Brown, who began his NBA career with the Trail Blazers in 2019 after going undrafted out of UCLA. He also had short stays with the Thunder, Mavericks and Cavaliers. [Hey! Wasn't he a Celtic for a few days?]
Ja Morant to miss at least 4 more games ... separately, the Glendale, Colorado Police Department announced in a press release (via Twitter) that it has concluded its investigation and will not charge Ja Morant with a crime due to a lack of “available evidence.”
“GPD was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges. … The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or menaced with the firearm and in fact no firearm was ever located. Although the video was concerning enough to prompt an investigation, there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime,” per the statement.
Zion Williamson to be re-evaluated in 2 weeks
Piston wing Hamidou Diallo Injures Ankle, Likely Out For Season [he was mentioned as a potential target of the Celtics]

oh yeah. needs those #s for that big paycheck. White proved tonight he's probable our best shot at a true PG. Smart has now assumed the role of SG? IDK but something is a bit funky with that.. He played wing when IT was here Yeah i know. Not so much where he plays as when. I'm leaning toward bringing Smart off the bench for the rest of the season and probably the rest of his career here.

Don't necessarily agree, but:
Gary Washburn: Marcus Smart when asked about his constant foul trouble of late: “I don’t know if you guys seen Fred VanVleet’s interview. That’s all I’m going to say. That lets you know I’m not speaking out of my butt. I’m gonna let Fred do all the talking.” #Celtics #NBA – via Twitter GwashburnGlobe Top Rumors, Referees, Fred VanVleet, Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors
Souichi Terada: Marcus Smart says he re-tweaked his ankle last night, among other bumps. But otherwise says he’s feeling alright despite some physical play recently. – via Twitter SouichiTerada Injuries, Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics

KD's season could be over, looks like a grade 2 ankle sprain! I'm starting to worry that the Lakers may come out of the west!
Regular season could be ...
Suns Fear Durant Has Grade 2 Ankle Sprain; More Tests To Come by Luke Adams
After Suns star Kevin Durant suffered an ankle injury during pregame warmups on Wednesday and exited Footprint Center in a walking boot, there’s concern within the organization that he’ll be diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain, according to Greg Moore of The Arizona Republic.
Durant is expected to undergo more testing on his ankle on Thursday to determine the severity of the sprain. However, because the team isn’t scheduled to practice until Friday, we may have to wait another day for an official update, tweets Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports.
If it’s deemed to be a Grade 2 sprain, it would likely sideline Durant for four-to-six weeks, jeopardizing his ability to play another regular season game, writes Moore. The Suns’ regular season finale is exactly one month from today.
Durant’s injury occurred when he was driving to the basket during warmups prior to what would have been his first home game as a Sun. He slipped and went to the floor as he attempted to jump for a layup attempt (Twitter video link via Kellan Olson of ArizonaSports.com).
Comment: Bad karma cloud from Nets/Kyrie ... better burn some incense!
KD has created plenty of his own bad karma. I don't know if I've told you guys, but I bought two big banners from nba.com for my room maybe 10 years ago. One was a celtics banner of championships. The second was a KD poster from okc. When KD left for GS, I hung KD upside-down, and he's been there ever since. If he had gone to Washington I could have respected that...but GS? Ridiculous.

He does look to have lost a step, I'm afraid. I do respect his service and still hope he can be a big part of at least one championship.

Here's some moar on the subject:
“I don’t know if you guys have seen Fred VanVleet’s interview,” Smart said. “That’s all I’m gonna say. Obviously, it let you know that I’m not speaking out of my butt. And I’m not the only one that feels that way. So I’m gonna let Fred do all the talking.”
The Raptors guard singled out an official in the wake of Toronto’s loss to the Clippers on Wednesday night at Crypto Arena.
Smart admitted that VanVleet’s not the only one who has felt he’s been a target of a specific official throughout his career.

Marcus Smart needs to just shut up. VanVleet isn't complaining about calls that put him in foul trouble. He's talking about a ref who hits him with a tech for something he said TO HIS TEAMMATES. He's complaining about Scott Foster's nonsense ejecting Scotty Barnes in their previous game. That's a HUGE difference from a ref that is not falling for flops or yells of "Hey" every time you go to the hoop. Marcus tries to "get into" folks with physical play and then he flops when that physical play comes. Smart will bang with a guy like Randle but then on the third bang, Smart will flop expecting a charge call. Smart likes to flop when going around a screen. When it's not called, he gets frustrated. I've never seen a player lose his composure as much as Smart does. Smart's foul trouble is caused because he's committing too many fouls. He needs to go back to playing defense without fouling..

Sounds great!
Pro rating JD's stats from last night, he'd have 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 points.
Of course, he'd foul out after 12 minutes, so that's as far as we'd get.

clutchpoints.com Celtics' Marcus Smart reveals troubling ankle injury setbackThe Boston Celtics managed to snap their three-game losing streak Wednesday night. Unfortunately, this feat was not accomplished without any negative repercussions as starting point guard Marcus Smart revealed a stunning admission following their outing against the Portland Trail Blazers. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year “re-tweaked” his right ankle injury according to The Athletic’s Jared Weiss. Smart’s ankle injury previously sidelined him for 11 straight games just a few weeks back. Though the news is certainly a bit disheartening for fans to hear, Weiss would add in his report that Marcus Smart himself noted that while he certainly feels some discomfort, to him “everything is good.” Since returning from his ankle injury back on February 15, the Celtics have gone just 5-4 and have registered one instance where they’ve seen wins in two consecutive games. Throughout this stretch, Boston has surrendered a whopping 114.8 points to their opponents and have been on the losing side of four of their last six contests. Head coach Joe Mazzulla has suggested that the ball club must look to hone in on their transition defense, offensive rebounding efforts, and free throw rates if they wish to get back to the level of success they were producing at earlier on in the season. Joe Mazzulla: “Our defense in the last three games, since the All-Star break, is 30th in transition, we’re 25th in free throw rate and we’re 25th in offensive rebounding. So amongst all the other stuff, if we fix those three things we’ll be back to normal.” With their recent stretch of mediocrity, the Celtics have been passed by the surging Milwaukee Bucks atop the Eastern Conference leaderboard. They now reside in the second seed in the standings with an overall record of 46-21. The team will now gear up for a six-game road trip, with their next matchup coming against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night.

I will NEVER say this might not be bad for us BECAUSE THIS IS BAD FOR US.
No matter how well DWhite is playing, I'm most comfortable having Smart, White and Brogdon playing.
This will give White more minutes but it will also put playing pressure on Brogdon too.
What do we plan to do with our lone roster spot? What, 16 games is not a lot of time to integrate anyone into what we're doing on offense and defense.
I cannot fathom the Celtics simply NOT filling that spot.

Agreed ... at least try a few 10 day contracts to see if anyone in the G-League is a good fit. Best way to keep chemistry intact is to test integration before signing and Brad is wasting valuable time to vet potential candidates. Even our own guys in ME s/b tested before another team poaches our best guys up there.

It was a fun moment on what was a somber individual night for Grant Williams once again, but that — or the plethora of shots he put up once he got into the game — couldn’t erase the feeling he’s been carrying throughout the past month. “If I was happy right now, then you would say I didn’t care about basketball,” Williams said. “For me, you just gotta go out there and do what you’re asked. That’s the position I’m in, you’re not the top guy, you’re not the bottom guy, so you gotta focus on what you can control.” – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic Top Rumors, Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
The biggest thing Williams is trying to control is the discomfort in his right elbow. As reported by The Athletic Tuesday, he’s been dealing with a ligament injury and that has thrown off several facets of his game. But he hasn’t questioned suiting up every day since he said he first hurt it against Philadelphia in early February. “It’s a weird injury, but you play through it because that’s what you do for the team,” said Williams. “It don’t matter if your numbers go down, it don’t matter if your minutes go down because of it, you just do whatever it takes to help the team win.” – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic Injuries, Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
After the humiliating missed free throws in Cleveland 48 hours earlier, Williams wanted to get out there and send it. Shoot with no abandon, at least within the realm of pragmatism. If he can’t earn the place he’s held down for over a season now, he’s coming out swinging, just as his coach wants him to. “(Sullivan) said it best, ’I’d rather you take the shot and us tell you to wind it back than not take it at all,’” Williams told The Athletic after the game. “That’s the perspective that I’m going into now. If you’re open or you have the opportunity, whether it’s a little bit contested or open, you let it go and you think about everything else after.” – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
Grant Williams is shooting 35.4% from the field since February began, 35.1% from three and even slipped to 67.9% at the free throw line on 28 attempts. His 39.5% shooting slump extends over the prior 40 games to Dec. 10 and his defensive versatility hasn’t carried the same staying power when the Celtics shift toward a less switch-heavy defensive approach. – via Bobby Manning @ CLNSMedia.com Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
“It’ll pass,” Blake Griffin told CLNS Media after Williams only played the final 12 minutes of a win largely decided over Portland. “He’s too important to our team. I think we’re trying out some lineups and you feel for him, he’s a great teammate, he’s a great guy to have in the locker room and great player for us. You just stay on. We’re gonna need him in the playoffs in a big way in every series, so it’s probably hard for him to see that, but I think his teammates all value how good he is.” – via Bobby Manning @ CLNSMedia.com Blake Griffin, Grant Williams, Boston Celtics

He is in a similar system in Maine ( I assume) and can provide some deep depth with Pritchard out and Smart (needs to rest NOW to get as healthy as possible for the playoffs).
