Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks
by Andrew Hughes
The Boston Celtics have not lost in two weeks, reeling off seven wins in a row against a healthy mix of rebuilding teams and potential contenders in both the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Since losing to a Cleveland Cavaliers squad, that slipped in the standings, on November 2, the Celtics have beaten the Bulls, Knicks, Grizzlies, Pistons (2x), Nuggets, and Thunder. On November 16, they take on an Atlanta Hawks team that is sitting right two spots behind them in the standings.
Atlanta’s most recent victory over the Milwaukee Bucks actually propelled Boston into the top spot. The Hawks are 6-4 in their last ten, more recently losing to the Utah Jazz and splitting a home-and-home with the Philadelphia 76ers before that Bucks win.
Atlanta is being led (predictably) by its backcourt duo of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. Young is once again a near-double-double threat in 2022-23 while Murray is averaging 21/8/6 with over two steals per game. Their balanced starting lineup, completed by Clint Capela (11 points, 12 rebounds), John Collins (12.6 points, six rebounds), and De’Andre Hunter (15 points with a 37% 3-point conversion rate), has carried their offense while Onyeka Okongwu (eight points, 5.6 rebounds) has been a worthy sixth man.
With homecourt advantage, the Hawks pose one of the biggest challenges of the season so far for Boston. Will the Celtics respond with their eighth straight win Wednesday or will they need to rebuild in the Big Easy this Friday?

In the meantime, this guy is tearing it up. But..according to someone, is too early. I say, he seems to be freaking special. Maine remains the only undefeated team.

Its one thing for a 24 yr old to shine at Maine....Another thing for a 20 year old. But I see no need to rush him. Who would you push off the team? Not sure we would need a fifth guard behind Smart, Brog, White, PP....Considering that Brown should continue to see some minutes at G. Which I dont mind, I just think most of his minutes should be at F. Cuz when we play him at G, he starts dribbling too much and passing too little. Hes best as a scorer (not a facilitator).

I like him, but not giving up too much for a potential rental. Although, Al's contract is up, I think they'll try to keep him on a reasonable deal for 2-3 more years. Poeltl could not come to terms with SAS, BUT, they have tons of cap room, and may want to keep him. Who would we trade? They already gave us White.

Did you guys read the article?
Gallo can't be traded to S.A. That means a 3rd team and those deals are hard to come by. Trading an injured Gallo makes the C's look bad. If Poeltl won't take MLE $ ($12-13M next year) then bye-bye and he passed on Spurs offer already so he must be looking for $15-18M.
I'll find a back-up next summer for MLE or this trade deadline as teams dump for the FRDP of a lifetime.

There doesnt appear to be much here. Nothing suggesting the sides have talked. Looks like clickbait. "One name we’ve highlighted here at MassLive in the past month as a potential trade target for Boston is Spurs center Jakob Poeltl. In his Hoop Collective podcast on Wednesday, Brian Windhorst of ESPN also brought up the seven-footer as a name that many around the league believe Boston could be linked to in the coming months as the trade market kicks off in earnest next month." So its "heres a name we think makes sense" and then when I listen to the Windhorst vid, its more of the same "heres why we think he could be a good fit" I dont see it happening. I dont see them trading Gallo. I agree with the quote that Admin posted, that it would be a bad look. Hes staying with the team, its not like hes home. I dont think they flip him at all. I also think we would get outbid even if we can match the contract. I also think the Spurs arent truly interested in dealing him. I wouldnt hate it, personally. But I dont think it happens.
