If you put enough sparklers together you might get some fireworks. They can a mass a fist full of sparklers and still have mega fireworks available for 2017.
A one year rental of an LA native? I dunno if I like the odds. That formula where he makes more by taking a 2 year max deal with an option year sounds reasonable, so reasonable that OKC should have considered the same offer. If he's not taking it for them...

Didn't Lifshatz say that he expected the deal would be done by now and that Doc must have gotten cold feet? I didn't hear him say it has fallen through but I may have missed that part of the show ... Ya that's probably a more acurate account. I'm not sure the end result is much different.

I have a gut feeling Westbrook will extend. I'm very okay with Sanders or Okafor, then go to war. Keep talking, but keep flexibility for the future.

Yes that's the way i've been reading this all along. Okafor and less so Noel seem to be the only deal we have a shot at. The sixers held out till this time for the same reasons is my guess. Ainge won't steal Okafor he will have to make a fair offer now. Sanders could prove to be a wildcard for the next couple weeks. I sse him going to the Bucks but he is a better fit here than Okafor and maybe Noel. The sixers will set tight till he signs is my guess. The ball has been moving towards their court sense the draft. You sound like a "sparklers" over "fireworks" guy ... LOL!!! chowderandchampions.com/2016/07/24/celtics-off-season-full-sparklers/Sure, adding Al Horford who is the biggest free agent signing in team history is great, and adding the third overall pick in this years draft (Jaylen Brown) to an already young nucleus is great too. The only problem is that both are secondary moves, the primary move hasn’t happened.
If there is a deal out there that involves moving any or all future first round picks for a top 10 player in the league, the Celtics have to do it. Ainge might not get another shot at fireworks.
i fully agree. The big deal hasn't happened yet. All things considered ill take Sanders doughtful that happens. I do believe the Westbrook trade is more likely than Griffin. Me i want the good picks we have over the next two years. One at the very least. Hey i got Rozier and Brown to watch a maybe Smart if he can score. I would rather see no deal than mortage our future for any one player that's not named James or Durrant.

Sanders would be an instant fit for our interior defense and rebounding. Okafor probably has more upside and could be a 20/10 guy immediately with the Celts. Hard choice

I believe Westbrook will want to go to LA in the end. He's probably rather be on the clippers and he might be a better fit than Chris Paul, but a trade really doesn't seem to work.
I think he'll be willing to go to the Lakers in the end, and I think they have the assets to make it work for both sides (probably involving russell). It all fits better than westbrook to the celtics.

I suppose he would probably fit for us too. We lack offense and he could be a one man gang. Generally brad seems to like college style control ball though. I'm sure he devised that system because he's rarely had top level personnel to work with. No reason to believe he wouldn't accept a more open court approach if he had the horses. Not sure the rest of the team is built for that but maybe.

can you imagine IT with the ball in his hands coming down and westbrook filling the wing? that does sound kind of exciting.

Imagine how fast we'd be ... we're 3rd in the association now and with WB, IT, Rozier, Jackson & Brown (Sanders too??) we'd blow opponents off the court! Off course we'd probably lose a few of those speedsters in exchange for WB ...

Jim Dan Lifpshatz (98.5 Felger & Mazz) says today that Doc wants Crowder and Danny won't include him in the deal so on it goes ...

I would rather part w a Nets pick than Crowder. I think the Nets picks are a bit overvalued. People are treating them like they are potential #1 picks, I think they have no shot at being #1 picks. It doesnt matter how bad the Nets are, they will fare better than at least 1-2 teams trying to lose on purpose. The Nets have no incentive to tank. The picks will be #3 at best.
I like the offer of Amir, Mickey,One nets Pick, One late first / early second, one contract to match up dollars for Pierce and Blake. Something like that.

www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/rivers-dismisses-griffin-boston-rumors-wants-pierce-retire-celticsDoc Rivers appeared on The Vertical Podcast with Adrian Wojnarowski and dismissed the Blake Griffin trade rumors, claiming that “bloggers” who “have nothing to do with the sport” were the cause of the Blake-to-Boston gossip. “We are hoping that Blake ends his career playing for the Clippers,” Rivers told Woj. “No team is calling because teams know we don’t have any interest. It just tells you the different times. Things have changed. Everyone believes that they’re media now. There are so many good, credible guys, but then there’s some of the guys who are bloggers and have nothing to do with the sport.” Rivers went on to explain that his youngest son, Spencer, even took the time out to trace the source of this "groundless" rumor. “Danny [Ainge] and I have talked twice this summer. One was about the British Open, and the other was about another golf tournament. That’s about it,” Rivers explained. “But my son traced [where this rumor started] it to I think a Boston radio talk show and the guy didn’t say that we had been talking, but that Blake would be one of the guys the Celtics should go after. That started the next step, and then the next thing you know, it blew it up.” Glenn Rivers sounds more like a politician than a doctor. Everyone knows politicians lie. So Doc says he’s spoken to Danny only twice this summer -- both times about golf and “that’s about it.” But it's good to know they did apparently find the time to lay the groundwork for Paul Pierce to retire with the Celtics, if he does choose to call it a career. “If Paul does decide to retire, we’re gonna make sure that Boston picks him up for one day and he retires a Celtic because that’s what he should retire as,” Rivers said. “We have all that in place. We just don’t know what he’s gonna do.” But Blake is the guy Celtics fans want now, so it’s understandable Doc would dispel the rumors regarding his four-time All-Star. It doesn’t mean those conversations didn’t take place because trade talks happen every single day in the NBA. But considering Doc spent the opening minutes of the podcast discussing Blake, it certainly makes it seem like a deal is dead. At least for now.

sports.yahoo.com/news/sources-russell-westbrook-000000582.htmlThad Foucher of Wasserman Media Group, the agent for Oklahoma City superstar Russell Westbrook, is engaged in serious talks with the Thunder on a contract renegotiation that could secure Westbrook through the 2018-19 season in Oklahoma City, league sources told The Vertical. No deal has been finalized for the five-time All-Star guard, but there’s momentum toward a three-year, $85 million-plus maximum contract renegotiation agreement, league sources told The Vertical. The proposed deal would include a player option on the third year, which would clear the way for Westbrook to return to free agency in 2018. In the structure of a proposed deal, the renegotiation would move Westbrook’s salary in 2016-17 from $17.8 million to a $26.5 million max salary. Westbrook would make $28.5 million in 2017-18 and $30.6 million in the third year under the proposed renegotiated deal. Oklahoma City is able to offer the extension because it has the appropriate salary-cap space available. For now, Westbrook is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in 2017, and a new contractual commitment to Oklahoma City in the wake of Kevin Durant’s departure could be instrumental in recruiting another elite free agent to the Thunder’s talented core next summer.
