Great win Celtics. But we have a long way to go to win this series. We make ZERO adjustments in-game. All we do is keep launching 3-pointers. I think I FINALLY felt we would win when Tatum hit that corner 3-pointer on the assist by DWhite.
We just DO NOT play the right way for the whole game. I cringe when Brown stands still and dribbles between his legs 6 times. And when Tatum pounds the ball out front. We just stop moving the ball and working it for a good look.
Also, we really need to attack when they play us tight. They are daring us because they have no respect for our PG playmaking abilities.
Last thought, I'm sorry but I'm not in the Giannis-is-great camp. His game is at the rim. If calls were made consistently by the book, he would foul out EVERY GAME on offensive fouls. And his offensive fouls are OBVIOUS. It's like the refs just give him the benefit of the doubt because he literally puts his shoulder down and charges.
Oh, and this stage is much too bright for Derrick White. Hindsight is 20/20 but this is turning out to be a terrible trade for the Celtics. SAS fleeced us. He just isn't ready to play in games like this.

I feel like we have no approach these guys on the paint. Isnt that the purpose of theis or horford? Is obvious they are not pushing their big guys to defend the three when one of our bigs tries a 3. They are just covering the paint. Similar to what Miamo does against us. At some point van gundy, whom i am not a fan of, said that we need to mix it up as the series goes on. That is my take too. If Udoka does not mix it up, we are solely going to depend on trusting those 7 as is. That aint gonna work.

I'm dismayed that Udoka has not used Theis to open up some driving space in the paint with his seals for Tatum and Brown (Smart when he's in) and maybe help White score some easy layups. Someone else here said he has 6 fouls to waste and we should use them ... during the game not just when Al & Rob foul out for heaven's sake. Get him involved earlier so if/when he has to fill in for someone he's ready.

White for a Big W ...Waste...”0” pts. Is he that valuable for 5 assists? I don’t recall the trade but I sure wish we had Schroder!

Ha! Wouldn't Magic love to see the C's lose 4 straight after his Lakers have gone fishing for the Playoffs!

He gets the job done though. But brute force, in my opinion, does not warant anyone the great label.

What is it about me that I'm not satisfied with a 23-point, Game 2 playoff home win against MIL to tie the series, 1-1? Why was I nervously watching sitting on the edge of my seat thinking MIL could make a comeback as late as 4 minutes left in the game?
We had a 25 point halftime lead and won by 23. For some reason, I wasn't comfortable with that.
I like our road mentality and expect us to come out Saturday and play well. I'm just concerned with this extremely short rotation used by Ime. Brown's hamstring is hanging on but these minutes might be a factor.
Why isn't Theis playing? Another body on Lopez and Portis can only help. And why did we give up JRich, Langford and TWO first round draft picks for DWhite? That is turning out to be a huge blemish on Brad's first year.

Petey was right. Richardson gives you the same or better than white at a better price. We got duped Yup. There both likeable humans with positive team chemistry so thats a wash. But Richardson is stronger, a more versatile defender, and probably even a slightly better pure scorer. Whites advantages (playmaking) isnt enough to offset all the ways Richardson is better. Cant believe we threw in our first also.

Not sure why the complaining. I thought we adjusted well. Height is overrated, GWill is better than Theis at PF and C. GWill may be short but hes thick, stout, solid, and strong. Plus he has a huge ass that he uses well. He moves his feet well. Him and Horford were beasts on Giannis. And theres just no need for another big when you have a PF rotation of Horford, Grant, Tatum (when we're small) and a C rotation of Rwill, Horford, Grant. Maybe could have used Theis for 10 or so minutes to save some fouls on Rwill and some minutes for Horford who played a lot. But its no big deal.
The ball movement was great, we were much more active and mobile on offense. Pritchard and Grant have turned into key contributors. And if they are knocking down shots (and I expect them both to keep knocking down shots) I have literally no idea why anyone would want us to shoot less (unless its a playstyle that you dont personally prefer, which is fine). But from an unbiased standpoint, having the shooters out there is great, as it opens up lanes for drives and allows us to drive and score (if its there) or drive and dish to a quality shooter (when its not).
I see no reason to slow down on the offensive end. When they play overly physical, beat em w speed, ball movement and shooting.
3 days rest is huge for us.

We are a faster team, a better shooting team, and better at moving the ball. Why play their game and try to out physical them when we are on offense? Maybe some physicality on D. But we've been very effective in all 6 playoff games defensively (even the one that we lost). Grant and Horford are freaking playing amazin on the D side of things.
I say keep giving Grant 35 mins a night, keep giving PP and Grant the green light to shoot. Keep driving and dishing. Keep up the defensive intensity that Grant and Horford are bringing. Theres a reason they were not really in the game last night.

If you broke down the NBA tiering as follows:
Tier 1 - generational (top 3 in NBA) Tier 2 - superstar (4th best player to maybe the 15ish in NBA) Tier 3 - star 16th best player to 30th, occasional all-star Tier 4 - good nba starter Tier 5 - avg NBA starter tier 6 - Fringe NBA starter / good bench player on a great team tier 7 - solid bench contributor tier 8 - fringe bench contributor tier 9 - not playable
I would put Grant in tier 4. And I think he's there to stay. He was an absolute beast in college (2x SEC player of the year). Hes a world class defender, and can cover anybody (yes, even Embiid as Grant can use his superb strength and ability to get low to keep Embiid away from the basket. You just cant back down Grant). On offense , he can back you down though, as he gets low and uses his bag ass. He is a great shooter, high IQ.
Hes just not a bench player in the league anymore. (Not to imply he wont come off the bench for us next year). But in terms of talent, he's a very good NBA starter, and I sincerely believe he'll stay up here. I dont see anything flukey about his breakout.

It had to be ime pushing for that I think the short rotation was because we were down a guard. So adding Theis would be adding a big, so that wouldnt exactly help. We have 2 guards right now in White and PP. So you lean on them for a game, knowing you have 3 days off upcoming. I honestly think the short bench was because 3 days off. Theis doesnt help you when you are short a guard.

drewski6 is right on point , today!! The more shooters the better! Tatum, Brown, Gwill and Pritchard were a combined 19 of 33 on 3 point shooting! It's really simple, if Tatum and Brown score like they did last night, and Gwill or Pritchard can have good scoring night's, we'll win! Our defense was great last night, make Giannis beat you and stop the others! I actually thought White did his job last night, good defense and he advanced the ball better and quicker than anyone, he was a plus 23! At times when he was on the bench, I was wanting him put back in! Now we just need to win 1 in Milwaukee!
