We need a young PF more than anything else right now ...
I think we can survive until post camp with Smart, Pritchard & Langford at PG.
If we can get a Mills, Wright or even R Jackson then we have some vet depth there.

who's inexperienced? Our bigs or guards?
PP, Langford & Popeye (Yam) maybe but Mills, Wright or Jackson along with Smart will suffice for now. Something will come along once the season opens ...

Just found this at HoopsRumors: The Kings have now addressed the center position by lining up deals with Holmes and Alex Len, and reportedly have a deal in place to acquire Tristan Thompson from Boston as well.
So as I suspected, Brad cut the Hawks out of Thompson and is cutting his own deal with SAC. That's either a 2nd rd pick and a fat TPE near $9.6MM or a player (hopefully Bagley).

Warriors Agree To Sign Otto Porterby Luke Adams The Warriors have reached a deal with free agent forward Otto Porter, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link). Porter turned down the mid-level exception elsewhere in order to join Golden State on a minimum-salary deal, sources tell Haynes (Twitter link).

Wizards Nearing Deal With Spencer Dinwiddieby Luke Adams Free agent point guard Spencer Dinwiddie is nearing a deal to join the Wizards, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).
Woo, dodged that bullet! Wasn't looking forward to another injured PG making bookoo bucks as Cabby said earlier. As much as he'd be a great fit alongside the J-Team, he's just too risky unless is was a 1 yr deal for short $ (like $5-9MM). We will know soon enough when the details are reported but these guys are getting more, not less than everyone has been expecting so far. Only Otto Porter turning down more $ to take the VM with the Warriors (ring hunting) has been the outlier so far. There may be others (check Lakers & Suns) and there will be more as we get furthur down the food chain.

Yes, Dunn & Fernando (C) in turn for TT and a TPE.
But since Brad took TT off the table (it appears), he completed the Dunn/Fernando deal with another TPE (though we did see the original TPE expire over the weekend and lost $5MM in value because Hawks tried to re-flip TT in a three-way and the deal couldn't be consummated with the NBA in time with too many deals to be confirmed).
That's why I'm hoping we fulfill our PF need with Bagley for TT now ...

That would be ok with me Bagley has some skills i always thought. We got rid of Ainge Walker and hopefully TT.. 60% Finished. In baseball 3 for 5 which is pretty damn good. I'm always up till 1-2am ...
The draft & free agency must be an adrenaline rush for me.
Now if we could only get Sam Presti to come home we'd be in good hands.
I can't believe Prak went to Sam's ... JFC, I guess he needed to have guide rails for protection. Oh well.
Ainge > I been wise to his scam for a long time. He made a career off one trade helped along by his fellow Celtic. He never deserved the accolades he got from that trade and he flew under the radar far to long as a result. Now they need to dump Austin and hire some real scouts!
Good to see you back and rested I'll bet ... I kind of assumed you were taking a vacation or moving to Europe and decided to blow yourself up until you returned or got settled in new digs.
Talk to you tomorrow when Brad decides it's time to make his next move ... Later.

Also wholeheartedly agree on TT for Bagley. Not to be lost in that scenario is how tight Tatum and Bagley allegedly are.

NY had cap space , they didn't need to do a sign and trade for Fournier at all. Boston is looking at MLE type players as expected. I'm actually more interested on what's' happening with the Thompson deal right now. Perhaps Dunn is being re-routed for more room under the tax line. We have two roster spots IF Dunn is not here and a bit under $6M in tax room then. If Dunn stays, we have less then $1M under the tax line. I know people don't care about it, but it sure seems like the owners DO! Lowered expectations folks!
NY didn't need to but if they were offered a 2nd rd pick to do so wouldn't it be foolish for them not to?
If the C's don't inquire, it's because they don't want to give up trade capital (a pick) while committing to using that TPE within the same season they will be needing cap space to sign a major FA like Beal.
Don't give the Knicks credit when the ball isn't in their court until asked ...
Right now we can use the NT-MLE. If we cut Edwards, Dunn, Fernando & GWillwe can use the NT-MLE and still get below the tax line.
I'd swap TT for Bagley (better than Milsap) and use the NT-MLE for Mills or another vet PG.
Have to trade them somewhere to get the salary off the books, cutting any of them won't do it sorry

The Celtics are ok. No need to waste money on these guys that wont push them over the top into real contender mode. I still think they have to let Tatum and Brown play out these years and let them develop and you can slowly fill the roster out around them. Id like them to move Smart before the year though

When Fournier signs w/o utilizing a S&T to benefit the Celtics, the passing up of Turner etal by Ainge will turn into a disaster given all we added to the loss of GH in picks and lost contracts to replace him - we will walk away yet again with nothing! Thnx Danny! Ainge was more of a disaster, than even Dee thought he was! Ainge at the end yeah. Its easy for me to call him a disaster if we split his tenure into a front-half and back-half. Back-half disaster.

A defensive minded , pass-first PG who was not too long ago a top 10 pick, still young, at $5m. Dunn isnt going to fix all our issues, but if we trade Smart - I can see Dunn stepping into a defensive guard specialist who can still give you 10 pts / 5 assists. He's long for a guard and those long arms get steals. He also runs and in my opinion, thats when this team is at its best (when we commit to transition).

We really botched the TPE, huh? Bummer. I was screaming to use it before the season and not mid-season for a rental. Wanted a contract we could use to match because right now, the only way we can bring in a player making decent money is shipping Smart out. And Id do that for the right guy, but it would nice to have another option if we wanted to add without subtracting. For example, if we used our TPE for a player w term, we could be packaging that contract w some picks/prospects for a decent PF. And have Smart, Brown, Tatum, PF acquired, Horford/Rwill. Still not a favorite for a title, but better place then we are right now.
We need a third scorer, a PG, a PF, bench help, size, defense, playmaking....and we have no cap room. So ummmm......really hoping someone unexpected emerges to at least cut into some of these issues, lol.

BTW im agreeing w you , not trying to be argumentative. You had a great pt about botching the TPE . Becuase had we not and actually got a player w term, like I alluded to, in my prev post - we could use the salary w / picks and prospects to get a guy like Collins. I dont even know how you get a guy like Collins right now without giving up Smart. Not many contracts to send out for matching, and not many assets to pull from.

Bagley was a #2 overall pick just 3 years ago. Has his value really fallen this far? Hey sign me up, if we can get him for this cheap. Granted he hasnt been the efficient scorer that they thought they were getting - but he's only 21.
