There have only been a few comments about the virus as there should be only a few as we are a Sports forum. It was mentioned about the Yankees-Sox game # 1 postponed because some Yankees had the virus and what alarmed me was they had been vaccinated. Pfizer and Moderna are said to be 95 & 90% effective...was this within the 5 & 10%...dunno. I have had the vaccines. As per Shakespeare's Hamlet comment “To Be or Not To Be”, I add the word “Vaccinated”. Many not so I’m sure feel it has not been FDA approved. Some may believe that the big pharmaceutical companies influenced the government regarding massive revenues was a major factor pushing for vaccinations, some fear its long term effects and the purported conspiracy theory it could change one’s DNA and some people just don’t like to be told what to do and also don’t like like needles. I saw some Marines faint getting a needle and then going in to the jungle in View Nam & not knowing if they’d survive the day. Don’t know if any among you have not had the vaccine? Alas, a further troubling issue that now concerns us is Los Angeles is issuing a mask mandate to be re-instated this weekend and 10 additional counties across California are strongly, but not mandated yet, recommending the same. The medical consensus is that vaccinated people are not likely to spread the virus thus this is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated. LA says the mask mandate is also for those fully vaccinated while the University of California also said Thursday that students, faculty and staff must be inoculated against the disease to return to campuses. There has been a sharp increase in virus cases, many of them the highly transmissible Delta Variant that has proliferated since California fully reopened its economy on June 15 and did away with capacity limits and social distancing. The vast majority of new cases are among unvaccinated people. UC President Michael V. Drake said in a letter to the system’s 10 chancellors that unvaccinated students without approved exemptions will be barred from in-person classes, events and campus facilities, including housing. “Vaccination is by far the most effective way to prevent severe disease and death after exposure to the virus and to reduce spread of the disease to those who are not able, or not yet eligible, to receive the vaccine,” Drake wrote. Beating a dead horse, I strongly urge everyone not vaccinated to get vaccinated for their sake and our sake so we can achieve herd immunity. Yes sir...fully agreed...
Many vaccines are required to go to public school, or travel abroad...I am not super keen on needles, but with my mom and clients and such, I would rather be part of the solution...and I am strong enough to handle it...not afraid of it affecting my virility or a computer chip being in it because I am not an effing moron!...And the world aint flat...

Ya and they’re losing…funny how that goes hand in hand. Monty the fearless one isn’t getting them to wins anymore…time to fire him or better yet. What a great leader Milwaukee has. Just cant tell which player it is, do you? Probably the multi time MVP? Bud is a funny example too. Went from being a woeful underachiever, to the fan base wanting him canned until BKNs players got hurt, to being fired if Durant had a smaller shoe size…now he’s a great leader.

I was hoping that Milwaukee would lose early so they would fire him and we could get him...but big strike against him is he is white...well, actually sort of beige and freckled...

Now he’s a great coach, this is revisionist history

That’s the point Elvis….he was going to be fired if they lost, Durants toe was on the line…now they’re in the finals. Did he all of a sudden become a great coach? After his tenure of underachieving? Also I never said it was his fault. br] Also, I come here to discuss basketball, if you notice…i am just responding to cab taking his playful shots in his posts. You don’t look at Both sides very often I don’t care if you like me in the slightest. I’m not a butthead to anybody, disagreeing is ok. And not sure why you include Petey? I respect every one of his posts, we agree and disagree. You can ask him how much he likes or hates me, all we do is talk basketball

In a more serious note, Chris Paul has been the mvp for the suns and that i have to acknowledge. However, shows you how age can betray you. Jrue has had his moments against him. Alot of people here wante Jrue. I always understimated the guy.

Its all good Elvis. I think i need to man up and say that i have been a dick to solly so i apologize. I do see where he is coming with some of his arguments. Specially the leadership one in the hands of a veteran player. I need to be nicer on this board. I mean it

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol is still making waves in basketball. Pau Gasol hasn’t played in the NBA since 2019, but American basketball fans were able to watch the six-time All-Star play on Sunday night. The current FC Barcelona Basquet player is currently with the Spanish national basketball team as they prepare to enter the Olympics. Despite being 41 years of age, Gasol continues to play professionally. And while he isn't the same caliber of player that he was during his prime, he has shown that he can still be a key contributor on a solid professional team.
Gasol was the secondary star alongside Kobe Bryant during the Lakers' dominant run between 2008 and 2010. Gasol joined the Lakers, and his relationship with Kobe Bryant immediately catapulted the Lakers to championship contention. During their best, Kobe and Gasol took the Lakers to three consecutive NBA Finals between 2008 to 2010. Gasol and Bryant were also instrumental in the Lakers winning the NBA title back-to-back in 2009 and 2010.
Gasol, played in the NBA from 2001-2019, is arguably one of the most-underrated big men of his generation. He helped the Lakers win two championships and was at times the most impactful player on the floor for a Los Angeles team that also featured Kobe Bryant.
The Spanish big man was the Rookie of the Year in 2002 and a four-time All-NBA player.
I wish we had picked up Gasol( and relatively cheap too) about 10 years ago. He was older and at that time not part of our future and youth movement but he was classified as being “soft” and I disagreed and felt he’d be a good role model too for our youngsters but also help rebounding something we’d lacked past many years. He is probably the main reason we lost in the finals in 2010 vs Lakers. Yup, I know we lost Perkins in Game 6 and in the finals they got the egregious difference of 42 foul shots to our 18 and just 21 in critical Qtr #4 when we had a 13 pt lead end of Qtr #3. We had two 7 footers, Rashid Wallace and Garnett, but they seemed, especially Sheed, more interested in shooting 3s as we were losing the rebound advantage substantially, especially in the 4th Qtr. We had PP & Allen to do that with Rondo driving to the basket. They killed us with reb advantage 53 to 40 (I mean 13 extra chances) and only shot 38% and we did 42% but the extra chances killed us. Gasol schooled KG out rebounding him 18 to 3. What else was painful was that Kobe shoots 6 for 24 or 25% and is MVP. He’d been a goat had they lost.
