Thanks to the Admin for moving these all to one location.
this roster idea involves two more trades to better balance the roster and to get a young PG in the fold.
Trade #1:
T. Thompson- 9.7M
to Toronto for
Rodney Hood- 10.8M
both are expiring deals, Toronto need an upgrade at Center and Thompson was born in the Toronto area.
Trade #2:
M. Smart- 14.3M
2022 First round pick
2024 First round pick
to the Kings for
T. Haliburton- 4.0M with two more team options on his rookie deal at 4.2M and 5.8M
M. Bagley- 11.3M- then a RFA
Since Smart can become an UFA the following season the Celtics need to send TWO first to the Kings for Haliburtons additional two years of control. Bagley is a player the kings supposedly want to dump somewhere and we take his expiring deal as a reclamation project.
projected roster: (with salarys next two years)
Horford- 27.0M-26.5 (14.5M guaranteed)
Rob W. - 3.7M- RFA
Moses- 1.7M-1.8M
Bagley- 11.3M- RFA
Grant- 2.6M- 4.3M TO (team option)
Parker- 2.3M- UFA
Tatum- 28.1M- 30.3M
Nesmith- 3.6M- 3.8M TO
R. Hood- 10.8M- UFA
Brown- 26.7M- 28.7M
Langford- 3.8M- 5.6M TO
Edwards- 1.8M- 1.9M TO
Haliburton- 4.0M- 4.2M TO
Pritchard- 2.1M- 2.2m TO
Final roster spot could be Y, Mader or maybe B, Wanamaker if the team wants more of an NBA veteran for the 3rd PG spot.
Team would be just below the tax line this year and could clear up cap space for another near max salary the following year, if a player becomes available .
