Can the Celtics keep their momentum? Can anybody stay in front of Dame time? Stay awake to find out...

Prediction: Dame goes for 40+ but C's shut down the rest of the Blazers for a 119-115 win.
Time to attack the rim with Enes Kantner on D. He's not pulling in 30 rebounds tonight if Timelord plays him physical.

Better yet, can we keep the rebounding man, Kanter off the boards?? I think they are going to play nurkic a lot today and kanter less but I need to read up. Either way, I think TT is the right kind of guy for that challenge. And you know Kanter is going to get torched over and over...if not it's truly time to fire brad. TT came in out of shape to start the year. I figured he has been partying these weeks, but he came back looking much better. Did he break up with Chloe? We get fournier back and we may be a decent team after all... do you guys see TT stepping back into a starting role? I kind of anticipate that

That will keep RWill matched up against the subs. He can dominate those match ups. He has been looking a little lost in the starting 5 ever since the Embiid smack down.
The move may also help us start better than what we have been doing.

Personally, I still start RWill. He's the better player in my eyes. He's more athletic and more aggressive. I think TT is limited in what he can do because he's declined athletically, and RWill is limited because he gets confused when you ask him to do too much. But I think the best is RWill when we simplify the game for him. So keep him under the rim on both offense and defense , to keep it simple for him.

If you could put TT's brain RWills body....you'd probably have....TT of 5 years ago when he was a force. I guess you can hope the agility and athleticism continue to trend positively, and I agree they have gotten better, but I think its been legit years since we've seen beast TT. Just not the same guy. He's like a dad now. Lost some edge (and athleticism).

Save it for when we matchup w Embiid in playoffs. Im still concerned (maybe always will be) about RWills durability.

In the playoffs though, the training wheels come off and we live/die w RWill.

I do like having TTs experience out there, but I think the gap between them has gotten too far for TT to be seen as anything but the backup. While I agree that Rob can look lost out there at times, I would say Rob is probably an 83 overall, whereas TT is like a 75. For comparison, I would put Myles Turner at an 81

RWill makes more mistakes but he also impacts the game more.

Id like to see them both get a little more mean. TT seems like a mayor of the league, ambassador, friends on every team, likeable dad type and thats cool. Easy to root for. And RWill seems like a guy who everyone judged too soon and judged incorrectly. They thought he was going to be a headache in the locker room, and he seems like he tries to learn the plays and puts in work. I think he's already gotten good enough to justify us when we got excited that "he slipped" , meaning he's playing at a level above where you would expect considering his draft slot (so "slipped in the draft" is accurate). They both seem like good teammates and good guys. Sometimes I wish Marcus Smart didnt have to do all of the "punk" work. He can only intimidate guys 6 inches taller than him so much. I find myself missing Morris. He'll throw an elbow.

As a team, with smiling Kemba and likeable Tatum and Jaylen the smarty pants, and TT mayor of the league, and Smart will be punky but he's still respected and even liked around the league...Is it possible ....That we are too nice/friendly? I guess the whole league, has gotten too chummy. Remember when KG threw a headbutt? There isnt a player in the league who I can imagine doing that. Not to imply I want someone to come in and start throwing headbutts. But I feel like we could use someone who would remind us that we're out there to win at their expense, not make friends.

3 bench players to turn season in right direction by Andrew DiIorio
The bench for the Boston Celtics has improved drastically since the deadline
Although the bench for the Boston Celtics has been a major talking point for the greater part of this season, it has recently become a solid unit. A good bench is necessary for the Celtics to have any chance come playoff time.
Previously, they have been able to rely on their reserves to defend relatively well, but not to create points for themselves and others. This puts more pressure on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to run the offense and bench units, something that has the potential to backfire.
With a passable offensive bench, the Cs can make the next step as a team, limiting their most noticeable weakness all season.
Three players, in particular, have stood out over the past few weeks, leading Boston to three straight wins.
Boston Celtics bench player 1) Tristan Thompson
Although Tristan Thompson was being shipped out of Boston in almost every trade scenario a few weeks ago, the big man has given the second unit ample amounts of energy in limited minutes. The stats don’t look amazing, but by transitioning to the bench and backing up Robert Williams, Thompson’s skill set is utilized perfectly.
On offense, he provides a reliable attempt at the basket if everything else breaks down. Coach Brad Stevens doesn’t want to go to Thompson in the post over and over again, but he can create and make his own shot at a reasonable rate.
On the year, he’s 51-102 (50 percent) on shots 4-14 feet away from the rim, ranking in the 76th percentile for big men in the league.
By coming off the bench, Thompson can be used in short bursts to stay fresher throughout the game, crashing the glass at every opportunity he can. That has been his best asset for Boston — grabbing offensive rebounds — as he has a 13.7 percent offensive rebound rate on the year, ranking in the 91st percentile for bigs.
It makes much more sense to keep the lob threat in Timelord as the starting center to play off the playmaking of Tatum and Kemba Walker. TT thrives in more isolated situations, as he is much better at creating his own shot than the aforementioned Williams.
In his first three games in almost a month, Thompson has been the most active Celtic on the floor, grabbing every loose ball and contesting every shot he can.
That kind of energy is present because of the way the coaching staff has learned to use him. Therefore, Tristan Thompson has helped right the ship for the Boston Celtics.

Boston Celtics at Portland Trail Blazers Game #55 4/13/21 The Celtics look to win their 4th straight game as they visit the Portland Trail Blazers. By flceltsfan
Celtics have won 5 of their last 6 games. With their loss to the Heat on Sunday, the Trail Blazers have lost 4 of their last 6 games. The Trail Blazers are playing in their 3rd game in 4 nights after playing a back to back on Saturday and Sunday. The Celtics remain in 7th place in the East. They are tied with Charlotte (6) and half a game behind Miami (5) and 1 game behind Atlanta (4). They are 1 game ahead of New York (#8) and 2 games ahead of Indiana (9). The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games and 11-16 on the road. They have won 3 straight games. They are 10-12 against Western teams.
Key Matchups
Kemba Walker vs Damian Lillard Damian Lillard is averaging 28.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. He is shooting 44.1% from the field and 37.8% from beyond the arc. He is a threat to shoot from anywhere on the court and it is certain that Kemba will need some help slowing him down. Ordinarily, Marcus Smart or Jaylen Brown could cover Lillard, but they will have their hands full with CJ McCollum and Norman Powell.
Marcus Smart vs CJ McCollum
McCollum is averaging 23.5 points, 3,8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He is shooting 44.9% from the field and 40.2% from beyond the arc. Both Lillard and McCollum are capable of big games and both need to be well defended.
Honorable Mention
Jaylen Brown vs Norman Powell
Powell was acquired from Toronto at the trade deadline and is a big addition to the Trail Blazers. He is averaging 19.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals. He is averaging 16.3 points since he arrived in Portland but is still capable of putting up big numbers if not guarded closely.
