It was obvious that he wasn't going to make the Bruins under the current regime. Good luck in the K but the time had come to cut losses. Unless the Bruins can sign some defense the fans will be subject to boring defensive losing hockey for years to come. Very sad Julien wasn't fired because his system is outdated!

So we lose our rights to him?

So we lose our rights to him? I'm pretty sure that Boston would retain his NHL rights, since he is going to be a RFA, not a UFA.

Spooner was given the chance and they are very similar players. I think that we are deep at C, and Koko was a C. Just not enough room for both Spooner and Koko, they were fighting for the same job. Spooner was given first crack, and he ran with it. I think it comes down to who do you like more: Spooner or Koko? IMO, Koko is a bit thicker and a bit of a slicker passer. Spooner is a tick quicker and smarter. Tough call. In the end , you have to go w the guy who has proven he can be a solid third line C in the NHL who still has more unrealized potential. So Spooner it is. leaving Koko the odd man out. I do wish that we would have traded him when his value was higher. Hoping we can still get a third for him. A team that employs a different style with a need might be willing to promise him a legit shot at making the NHL team. This could convince him to stay in this hemisphere. That team might be willing to give us a third for him. I think I let him go and retain his rights before I flip him for a fourth.

Koko never would have worked as long as Claude is the coach he might as well go play back home. Claude would try to make him into a 4th checking forward. As far as him leaving for the K as Bruins fans can't miss what we really never had. Looks like another prospect some were high on who never did squat for us. There is nothing left for him to prove at the AHL not really surprising he's leaving North America.

With Spooner already on the roster, its hard for me to envision Claude giving Koko much of a chance. I do wonder what a 3rd line / speed line would have looked w/ Spooner , Koko, and Pasta. Just three young kids w speed flying around the ice. It's a bit of a bummer, but I'm already over it. he still has some value. I still wouldnt trade his rights for anything less than a 3rd.

Hard to say if he will ever be a good NHL player not sure he really got a fair chance with the Bruins. But personally would like to see some more, size up front.

Khokhlachev was not good enough to break into the Bruins lineup. He was traded twice, he might have been able to break in somewhere else.
