pete The difference was Smart was the primary ball-handler. When Smart passes it to Kyrie, Kyrie makes a move then passes it to a teammate if he's doubled or he can't get his shot off. That allows Kyrie to get the assist because the guy he's passing to is most probably open. When Kyrie is the primary ball-handler, Kyrie's first pass usually don't end up an assist because the guy he's passing to is most likely covered. Ball distribution is not only measured by the number of assists you get. When multiple passes are made before a shot attempt, that's ball distribution even if it doesn't end up an assist for the PG. Fierce, everything looked great yesterday BECAUSE WE HIT OUT SHOTS! It wasn't because Smart was the primary ball handler. To say that Kyrie got a lot of "hockey assists" minimizes his impact on the offense. Nobody can argue that he's NOT a score-first PG but to use last night as an example that he cannot facilitate effectively (or as well as Smart) is just plain not true. I believe what truly makes him an effective facilitator is his ability to score and draw double teams when he has the ball. You and I would be great facilitators if GUYS HIT SHOTS when we passed it to them. When we miss a lot of shots like the Knicks home loss or the Hornets road loss, guys aren't facilitating less, it's that the shots are just not falling. This is basketball. This aint rocket science. It's a game and it's not difficult to ascertain what winning teams do consistently well and what losings teams don't. Exactly. I cant believe how anti-Kyrie this forum has become. He's a top 15 player in the NBA and our best facilitator. Guys want to ship him out (for not passing, when he actually does) and roll with Rozier (who actually doesnt pass) Kyrie is at the bottom of the list regarding why we are struggling. The problem is everyone else missing shots.

Plus all Kyrie was doing as a PG was limiting the team to one shot. Enter Smart. Smart brings the ball down and now you have a few options in place including Kyrie. I am all up for this. Be it Hayward, Rozier or Smart to bring the ball down. It just works. Passes flow and thats that. Kyrie is a PG, and one of best ones in the league.

I'm not anti-Kyrie, I'm anti ball-movement, which sometimes happens on this team. Rozier, Hayward, Tatum and Kyrie are all guilty parties.

For the record I started this anti Irving ranting.
I don't hate him like I did the Midget I'm not convinced he has figured out his role here and he looks like a wizard one day and dumm ass the next night . His d has regressed not improved as advertised
The driving force is his max contract coming up with questionable knees. Money overrides'' trickie dribblin

This time around, there will be no trade like what happened to Isaiah Thomas.
Kyrie is here to stay.
New Orleans is not stupid to trade for Kyrie because Kyrie will never sign long term with the Pels. So Anthony Davis for Kyrie and Tatum is not happening.
It's true Kyrie is one of the best in the league. He's the ultimate closer. We are lucky to have Kyrie.
