Pretty awesome options for DA. Chad Ford reported yesterday that LA is considering trading Russell for a top 5 pick. And while some of you have already fallen in love with names like Murray, Hield, Dunn- the truth is, Russell is 100X better.
Like Okafor, this is a fantastic opportunity for the C's to capitalize on another team's awkward situation. To me, trading either Okafor or Russell straight up for our #3 pick is the same as trading either one of them for fifty cents on the dollar.
*Sully keeps packing on weight. We still need a back-to-the-basket scorer. (Jonas Jerebko stinks and has NO business starting during a playoff game..sorry, I digress). Enter Okafor- one of the game's best young B-T-T-Basket scorers.
*Our perimeter shooting got exposed during the Hawks series. Some argue that scoring is our biggest need. Enter Russell- one of the game's best young perimeter scorers.
Since I think both of these guys are way better than anything the draft has to offer at #3, and if I was forced to choose between the two of them, I'd still go with Okafor.
The argument that SF is our biggest needs position still makes no sense to me when you consider that we do have Jae Crowder and we don't have a starter-caliber PF.
And like the Jimmy Butler situation, bringing in Russell means moving AB out of the way. Although I'm not opposed to moving AB in the least bit, moving AB should not be a priority. Although Brad Stevens gets all of the credit for the C's recent success, it's the C's scrappy perimeter defense that makes them such a tough out- a characteristic where AB deserves most of the credit.

I agree with you there. Moving Bradley has never been a priority. He is the heart and soul of our defense even though Marcus Smart is creeping in there. He has also carried us offensively many nights. I think Bradley gets mentioned so much because we have similar talent to replace him. Bradley's the reason we almost beat Golden State twice because he can defend Curry like nobody else in the league.

Any trade this year between the Celtics and Lakers is almost nil. Russell is under contract fairly cheaply and Clarkson might get offers in the 10 mil range with the cap coming up and would be the most likely one moved. Russell in grean wold make me happy but i don't see it happening.

Clarkson falls under the Gilbert Arenas rule, and I can see him in PHI or NYK next year.

I'm not suggesting that we trade with LA. I am saying that I think Russell is better than any player available to us at #3. However, I'm maintaining that Okafor is still our best bet. (given the choice between Okafor and Russell).
Also, who cares if Russell's on LA? Especially when most would consider the Celtics FLEECING the Lakers if we traded the #3 pick alone for Russell? At the very least, IF Russell did wind up in green next season, think about how much he would HATE LA? ..after all he's gone through, he'd certainly be playing with a chip on his shoulder.
***While we're on the subject, I still think it's ironic how LA worships Kobe like a god (Kobe, the married guy, who rapes teenagers before road games...and Magic Johnson, who wasn't exactly the most faithful husband of all-time, but they boo Russell for pulling a prank on Nick Young??? They didn't boo Kobe when he told the media that Shaq cheats on his wife "all the time"? And Russell had a more productive rookie season than Kobe, and, not to mention, was a higher draft pick?
At any rate, Lakers fans are idiots, and according to Chad Ford, it may be about to cost them.

I like Okafor with the #3 pick better also.
who is a legit NBA center on our roster next year?
Kelly?
Amir?
sorry......no.
that is our biggest need ,even in the NBA of today.
Okafor is better than the likely picks at #3 in this years draft, so I would go for it.
IF Danny could swing Ibaka from Okl ( who has been rumored to be available) for #16, 45 and Jerebko, I would shoot for that deal also. Okl has no draft picks this year and assuming they will re sign Durant, they may very well look to lose salary to get below the tax line. Ibaka will be on his last year of his deal next season.
coming out of the draft with Okafor and Ibaka and maybe Prince at #23, Siakam at #31 would be a pretty good upgrade up front.
Okafor Ibaka Amir Kelly
as the rotation bigs Mickey and Siakam as young bench guys
we'd be at about $82M in salary with all the holds then.
Sign J. Dudley for a deal in the $8M range
Re-sign Turner to a market deal in the $12M range
rest of the roster then:
SF- Crowder SF- Dudley
F/G- Turner SG- Bradley G- Smart PG- Thomas
Deep Bench Hunter Prince Young or other draft pick
Edit: I should note that after Sully and Zeller sign elsewhere, we would be at about $92M in salarys.

You seem to forget just how bad IT looked as a PG in the playoffs. Unless Rozier pans out we need a PG who can pass and defend. Keeping our entire current guard core won't likely happen. One will be traded or we'll lose Turner and sign a starting PG. Thomas will eventually go to the bench and Young will be long gone.

Don't want Dudley cuz nobody else wants to keep him ... each team he ends up with either trade him or let him walk ... his best days are behind him ... PASS!!!!

Dudley is one of the best ( or the best) 3 point shooting FA out there this year.
if you feel that 3 point shooting needs to improve, you at least have to look at him.
he is also a solid defender who can defend 2 spots. If the price is right, I like him.
I should note I forgot Rozier on that roster......so Young can go...LOL.

We have plenty of three point shooters and the playoffs proved it takes more than thrre point shooters to win a championship .The Cavs showed what a balanced team could do. This small ball craze may take somewhat of a backseat next year.

I can't dispute the facts (%) but it takes him 25 mins/gm for the numbers he puts up which doesn't seem very efficient to me. He's 30 y.o. and no team (Clippers, Wizards, Suns & Bucks) seems to want him more than 1 season .... ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ? www.nba.com/playerfile/jared_dudley/

Dudley would be a nice fit here at the right price. I think HE thinks he's worth more than we can offer.

Dudley is a nice kid, but not a good player.

This small ball craze may take somewhat of a backseat next year. We have plenty of poor outside shooters. If we keep Bradley, we need 1-2 great outside shooters. If we deal him, we need 2-3
