A message for Woj, Magic and the media guys wanting to revisit the Udoka Affair to instigate a breakup of the Celtics roster ...
Ok so you avoided the CLEAN SWEEP ... despite "Hanging By A Thread!" Just don't "Let Go of the Rope" again!
We should have a parade? You showed us some pride & heart FINALLY but the Heat contributed to your success playing down to their regular season M.O.
Now "Do It Again" and win a game at home for once in these playoffs behind the support of the hometown fans and then you may garner some real believers ... make us say "I'm a Believer!"
Release the Kraken! Grant has been chained to the bench far too long in an attempt to bust his contract hopes. He's a key to opening the paint for Tatum & Brown and he's our enforcer (undersized but with heart & pride).
Boston fans are chomping at the bit to see you beat the Heat into submission and explode in "Jungle" fashion.
Earn a trip back to Miami at 3-2 and then buying into a reverse sweep becomes a reality ... Alter NBA History with the Heat becoming the 1st 8th seed to ascend to the Finals with it being the Celtics the 1st to come back from 0-3 to make the Finals!
If you win there? Then "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and your just dessert is a game 7 in Boston for your reward.
And if we lose ... no problem, a disappointment for sure but "I'm not scared of Dying."
But it is the "Time of the Season" for BBall junkies and we want another trip to the Finals even though this looks like it's Denver's time.

May be some truth in that statement about Grant.

Contract With today's kinder gentler Marcus, probably enforcer too Spacing? Maybe teams wait for him to hit one or two. That's what I would do with a streaky guy like him.

He's certainly helped spacing more than Smart and a safety valve if Al isn't shooting well. Vincent is out ... that ankle must have swollen up on him. So Martin will be Jimmy's main option followed by Strus then Robinson.

We already have Brown playing injured (elbow & that hand bleeding again) now there's an injury to explain what's happened to Brogdon:
How Malcolm Brogdon’s injury affects the Celtics Could Payton Pritchard or Sam Hauser get some run if Brogdon’s minutes continue to dwindle? By TrevorHass
Brogdon, who hasn’t looked like himself this series, has been “playing through a partial tear in the tendon coming out of his right elbow that leads into his forearm,” per The Athletic’s Jared Weiss. Yes, it’s affected his ability to shoot quite a bit, and no, it’s not an excuse.
This is one of those “Ahh, OK. That makes sense” moments. A guy who prides himself on his consistency, elite shooting and poise has been inconsistent, cold and erratic at times.
Brogdon hasn’t necessarily been a liability, but he hasn’t been his usual extremely effective or efficient self either. He’s averaging just 8.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2 assists in the series – well below his season averages of 14.9, 4.2 and 4.6.
In the last two, he’s shot just 1-for-11 en route to two points in 35 total minutes. Again, this all makes sense given the injury, but it comes at a rather unfortunate and pivotal juncture for the Celtics.
Will he play in Game 5? It seems like it. If so, will he continue to see a reduced role? Will coach Joe Mazzulla give Payton Pritchard or Sam Hauser some of his minutes? In a series where the Heat have generally dominated the 3-point line, playing either Pritchard and Hauser could potentially pay dividends.
Or will Mazzulla keep the rotation to seven guys and let Derrick White essentially double dip in his own role and Brogdon’s? That’s the more likely outcome, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an eighth guy.

He's the ref that watched Bam charge over a retreating White only to call a foul on White when he could have done nothing as it didn't affect the play at all.

I am so worried about this game tonight.
Everything points to a Celtics win just like game 1 in the Philly series. Yet, this bunch usually finds a way to let down and play poorly.
I've never seen a team take teams so lightly instead of putting your foot on their throats.
I know WHAT SHOULD happen tonight. I just have reservations about posting what WE SHOULD DO.
At this point, all I want is a win.

I knew he would be. When you turn it on the tip of your toe like that, leverage works against you and it turned back some too. Back when I could dunk I did that and never dunked again.

I would be more worried about a game 7 in the Garden.... not a game 5.
Game 7 would be the absolute perfect opportunity to stupidly snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, not tonight.

That's so true but Petey must have studied the C's history book and seen how many Game 5's they've lost at home in POs ... Ugh! That said, if they win Game 5 as they should there's hope:
... the last 25 NBA playoff games (as of 6/2012) where the series was tied at 2-2. We discover that:
* The home team won Game 5 in 20 of those 25 contests.
* The series ended with the Game 5 winner also winning Game 6 in 14 series.
* The series went to a Game 7 11 times. The home team won Game 7 in nine of those 11 games.
* The team that won Game 5 also won Game 7 seven times.
Since 2012, the C's have lost 8 game 5's (whether home or away) of a total 16 game 5's played.

How many PO game 5's have the Cs won/lost at home when trailing 3 games to 1?

C's when down 1-3 in game 5's: Home vs Away games are not identified
[In the last 16 game 5's dating back to 2016 the C's have split with 8 W's & 8 L's]
Won 2-6 game 5's these years when down 1-3
In 2021 they lost #5 to Nets (lostseries 1-4) In 2020 they won #5 vs Heat (lost series 2-4) In 2019 they lost #5 vs Bucks (lost series 1-4 only a game 1 win) In 2017 they lost #5 vs Cavs (lost series 1-4 only a game 3 win) with Tatum & Brown In 2013 they won #5 vs Knicks (lost series 2-4 after b2b wins following 3 opening losses and losing #6) In 2011 they lost #5 vs Heat (lost series 1-4 only winning #3) No POs from 1996-2001 Prior to 1996 it only took 3 wins so down 1-3 would not apply ...

So when trailing 3 games to 1 in 7 game PO series, the Cs do better in games 5 (3 wins in 6 tries) than they do in games 6 and in the series, zero winning series in 6 tries.
Maybe some regression to the means when the dominate team, comfortably ahead, relaxes a bit?

With injuries to Brogdon and apparently Brown's elbow & hand bothering anything other than a layup or dunk it would seem that the Heat aren't big underdogs even though Vincent is out. Unless Brogs & Brown can provide some kind of offensive and/or defensive help, we'll have little or no advantage with Vincent on the bench, especially if someone else steps up like Lowry or Bam. Keep Bam under control, slow down Martin, let Lowry tire himself out keeping the pace high and hold Jimmy to 35 or less and we have a chance to win Game #5.
