Total freakshow...last few minutes were nuts...but Nuggets held on for the win...I think Jamal Murray literally took about 8 straight free throws at the end of the game...Lakers kept fouling him...

4th time at 26yo that Murray made 20+ pts in Q4 of Playoffs ... maybe he's changed a few minds tonight since getting poo-pooed here when included on my list of those who you'd want in crunch time - Tatum, Murray, Booker or Mitchell.
If he was a Celtic Wed night we win Game 1 vs the Heat.

Chris Forsberg: Joe on no Grant Williams in Game 1: “We have a plan to use the depth that we need in order to give us the lineups that we think can really help us … I thought Payton gave us an opportunity with his shooting, with his playmaking, his pick and roll defense … Grant is always going to be ready. And we’ve built a lot of versatility and depth in our lineup where we can go a lot of different ways. We trust that anybody that we call in will be ready.“ – via Twitter ChrisForsberg_ Joe Mazzulla, Grant Williams, Boston Celtics

Wheres the "I" or the "me in RWills we need to play better. The truth is some early buckets and Oboards covered what was otherwise a problem. Although, Im not sure if I can blame RWill himself, because we know who he is , and more so blame the coach for caving.
With more RWill and less Dwhite, the turnovers go up and the perimeter D goes down, which were both problems in game 1. Of course, RWill adds a rebounding presence. But the double big had a bad +/- , because we were turning the ball over and not defending the perimeter well when we were in the double big.

C's live on drive and pitch, would have been a nice option with Love on the floor, except RWill is not a threat to do either. Would like to see Mazz make that adjustment. also lengthen the bench some. Grant and Hauser will be effective against he Heat

and then there's Butler lobbying for Smart to get more court time ... if it were up to Jimmy, he'd play Marcus more.
I bet ... to his advantage no doubt, especially when the best part of Smart's game diminishes as the game goes on and he descends into hero ball. I'm sure Jimmy would love nothing more than for Marcus to shoot more perimeter shots than drives and kick-outs.
Hat-tip for thinking Mazz might take his advice ... LOL!

Right now, the Celtics are a mess. The best part about the Celtics is the immense level of talent of the players.
Unfortunately, those immensely talented players don't always play to those talents. Smart totally commanded our offense in the first half but then just stopped and started playing totally different in the second half. Jeylen Brown takes small steps when he runs. That's why when he tries to explode, a lot of times he literally falls down, trips on his own feet. He oftentimes looks like the clumsiest guy on the court. And "Mr. Walk the Ball Up" Tatum is just way too cool on the court. He's very immature with his arm flailing and emotional outbursts (foul calls, foul no-calls, turnovers, etc.). What mentality does Jamal Murray have in the fourth quarter that Jayson Tatum lacks?
And the coach. That is this series greatest advantage for Miami. We got crushed in the third quarter 46-25 AND THE COACH CALLS ZERO TIMEOUTS! Let that sink in, the Heat are going on major scoring runs and our coach calls ZERO timeouts. And post-game, Mazzulla said "we played better for three quarters". WHAT DOES THAT MATTER? Something is seriously wrong if you can lose a game with your opponent winning only one quarter.

Smart is an underrated facilitator, which makes it even more frustrating when he pops low % 3s (either because hes covered or because hes a foot back from the line)....EARLY in the shot clock. I dont mind him shooting nearly as much if hes open at the 3pt line or if the shot clock is dwindling.

Lot of this can be fixed with more White. Cuts down on the need for the Jays to do as much dribbling, bringing the ball up. Mazz's comments, I assume, are to calm the guys. You dont want them getting too wrapped up in the moment, thinking about how big this game is, as opposed to thinking about whats happening on the court. In my opinion, its a big game for Mazz. If he can adjust and we can win, that would be multiple big wins this playoffs coming off adjustments. The adjustment I want to see is less double big and more White (personally). Would also like to see some Grant.
