Can we get in a lil mlb deadline talk today? Anyone expecting sox to do ..... anything? Devers has a loud voice.. Everyone knows what we need,” Devers told The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham on Sunday. “Hopefully we can get that in the next few days. We can’t control that as players. All we can do is give 100 percent on the field. But we need pitching. Bobby D in AAA is gone and probably some more minor league prospects..Maybe a starting outfielder in Boston.. If Boss wants to move this to the Sox thread i'll post a bit. Oh and Mayer isn't ready not close took in 3 AA games last weekend ..Can't hit a lick

My issue is that it feels wide open this year, and you just dont know once you get in. Its not like basketball where you can be a playoff team with no chance of winning it all. Wild card teams win it all quite frequently.
But I understand the other side that its kind of a sellers market with so few teams truly out of it, and how it may be unwise to hurt the farm for an overpay (re: prospect capital).
Considering we are so far belwo the lux tax line, Im hopeful that maybe theres a slightly overpaid guy (dollar wise, short term contract) we can get for practically no prospects but has a salary we can absorb without crossin over into lux tax and thereby not clearing our repeater penalties.
Im getting the suspicion that if anything at all is gonna happen today for Sox, its gonna be very minor.

5:50 p.m.: With 10 minutes until the deadline, the Red Sox are talking to the Dodgers about starter James Paxton, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
6:18 p.m.: The Red Sox got one move in before the buzzer, acquiring infielder Luis Urias from the Brewers.

OT Hedley...I realize that Bogaerts was a good player in Boston, and I guess he hurt his wrist a couple of months ago (probably pulling his 'Pud' (see that Pud) with Pee Wee (may he rest in peace, funny guy))...but...he hit into two double plays last night and popped out with bases loaded, no outs in the 10th last night...no hits with seven runners in scoring position...gawd I hated the signing from the beginning...pitching, pitching, pitching...

Luis Arias and Trump indicted "we're finally on our own" "This summer I hear the drumming" Fire Bloom in no-time-oh!!
Sounds like the Brewers won this trade ... Yikes!
The Red Sox traded for Milwaukee Brewers infielder Luis Urias in exchange for minor league right-handed starter Bradley Blalock. Boston then optioned Urias to Triple-A Worcester.
In 20 big-league games this season, Urias was hitting only .145. He managed only a .233 mark in his 29 games for Triple-A Nashville.
Urias, 26, has a career batting average of .235 in six seasons with the San Diego Padres (2018-19) and Brewers, with 46 homers and 167 RBIs through 413 games.
His 2021 campaign was his most productive, with 23 homers, 75 RBIs and a .249 average (.345 on-base percentage) in 150 games.
Blalock, 22, was drafted in the 32nd round of the 2019 draft by the Red Sox. He is 6-1 with a 2.19 ERA this season in 11 starts split between High-A Greenville and Class-A Salem.

I spelled his name wrong, but do we really need another middle infielder who can't hit??

Christian Arroyo DFA'd. Meaning Bloom doesn't want egg on his face for his super deadline acquisition.
Urias, the god of mediocrity, has arrived!
