www.todaysknuckleball.com/knuckleball-news/white-sox-taking-calls-on-sale-quintana-with-red-sox-among-suitors/The White are being inundated with calls of interest in ace Chris Sale, who may be the best pitcher in the American League, and All-Star left-hander Jose Quintana on the day after it became public that they are contemplating a serious sale. The Red Sox, who already have made four trades, are said by some insiders to be greatly interested in the star pitchers, especially Sale, but the list of interested suitors is expected to be extremely long. The Red Sox have indeed checked in with Chicago. Closer David Robertson could fit Boston as well, considering three of their best relievers are on the disabled list at the moment. The White Sox haven’t decided how seriously to shop their stars, and there’s no certainty that either will be traded, as they love both pitchers. The Red Sox and Dodgers are among teams with the prospect stash and payroll who could make a serious run at Sale, and while it isn’t known for sure that the Dodgers are in, it is expected they, too, will make a call, at least, depending on the health of Clayton Kershaw, baseball’s best pitcher who’s out with a back ailment. Sale, the All-Star Game American League starter, is under a favorable contract from a team perspective, and there may not be unanimity among Chicago higher-ups about what to do, at least not yet. General manager Rick Hahn was quoted yesterday saying that the club has been “mired in mediocrity,” which has at least led them to consider all things, even drastic ones.
