Well if they thought that Michel was a Kamara then they need their eyes checked. In college he was, and they weren't alone. His pass catching didn't translate to the NFL. Still not a horrible runner he was a big part of their last Super Bowl run. He gets hurt too often. The Pats made the mistake other teams were going to make taking him high Not a horrible runner at all, but that position is the single most interchangeable position in football. You can get the same production from anywhere in the draft. I also think his impact on the super bowl run was overrated, but that might just be me. Just think they literally replaced him with somebody better a year later in the 3rd round. Just a useless first round pick. The drafting quality has been poor for a half decade now t bh

And theres alot of blame on the salary cap also, for the first time in Bills career he seems to publicly make excuses for a bad year. We cant forget most of the last 2 championship teams were built in free agency/drafts from the early 2010s and guys on bigger deals. It costs more to sign depth guys then to draft and develop guys to become the next core of your roster. That excuse will never be passed on by me. The drafting from 2016-2019 has put this roster in this hole. Obviously besides Brady being pushed out the door

Greg Bedard on Felegr and Mazz today said the indication he's getting from his sources is BB realizes he's screwed up and needs to build the team with Draft picks, FAs and trades. Also he's spent too much time drafting for specific needs not taking better athletes. ...That sounds encouraging. You don't hop all over the draft if you're looking for the best athlete, and you don't sign or trade for marginal players.

I was actually surprised when he said he thinks they’re gonna be big players this off-season in acquiring players. I want to see it to believe it cause it’s not something they typically do, but bedard actually said what I have been saying about these young players. They’re all role players. Winovich, wise, Uche and Jennings all play 30% of the snaps. These are supposed to be your young core, they’re all situational guys

I think he senses he's up against it and has to bring in some big fish. Yes those men are role players along with Uche. JC, Jones, Harris, and Meyers are regulars. Dugger will be. Onwenu is a very good addition. Still they need some real studs.

It’ll be interesting to see how they handle it now with a question mark there

I think if he finds a great personnel guy that knows how to draft he can turn this around. That is not his strength and I think he knows it.

Maybe a guy he can defer too and bounce opinions off of, but at the end of the day he still holds the power. I mean there are examples of guys that the staff didnt like or liked and he ended up going opposite.

The problem is reported to be BB doesn't do what his scouts and personnel staff advise him to do, but rather relies on his coaching buddies. It seems like he now realizes that must change and he needs to trust his own people Bedard wrote today that Caserio's role has diminished and the #2 man Zigler was given more responsibility. Zigler may also be going. There's some spec that Dimitroff or Pioli might be brought back. Elliot Wolf is also a highly thought of staff member.

That’s actually encouraging. Would be interesting to see an old employee back to see how they adjust to the new game. I guess dimitroff isn’t that far removed

Something the Pats could use.

Small fast linebackers and and undersized defensive front doesnt seem like Bill wants to budge on in terms of updating play style/getting with the times. He still loves his big slow linebackers who are basically useless in todays game (Jennings/Bentley). Itll be interesting to see how this offseason plays out

Bentley has been okay if it's purely a run. He's lost as a 3 down man. Hightower is a bigger guy, but has the IQ. Last game they put Winovitch at MLB and he had a pretty good game. Why not leave him there and get another edge piece. He's a speed guy with some size. Uche is a speed guy and he's at least a rotational piece. The league is going fast. I doubt the game has past BB by, but he's going to have to re-evaluate the position. That doesn't mean you can't have size in the middle of the DL, and they need some there.

Ya I dont see why they dont go with size on their Dline and lighter at LB. It doesnt make sense that he will play safeties at LB, but just wont get small linebackers. Hightower was a great 3 down player because he could rush the passer on 3rd down or play the flats. Chase looks like he has the ability to rush the passer, but Idk if he has the aptitude to fill gaps or be out in space against the run/pass. Uche is definitely of the newer age, I think if he can learn to play the run he could potentially be a 3 down guy. At this point they need 3 down guys all over the defense, them rotating this much is just bad, especially since none of them are particularly great at anything

Wino "plays with his hair on fire". He'll need to learn discipline to be a 3 down MLB, but I think he has the physical tools. He's not particularly good at setting the edge, which won't work with the Pats as regular DE. Jennings is the same size at Hightower with similar tools. They were really disappointed on what he showed.

Jennings/Winovich at this point are a liability on the field. I mean Terez Hall was playing a majority of the snaps. Time to just get some pure bred 3 down players in the front 7. Their secondary should still be good even without Gilmore. It wont be dominant but if the front 7 is improved then they should improve as a whole defensively

They are largely responsible for the latter picks and UDFAs like Onwenu, Meyers, JC Jackson, Malcom Butler and others. Too often BB has bypassed their suggestions in the early part of the draft in favor of what his coaching buddies tell him. McDaniels and the personnel staff wanted both Jackson and Mahomes (who they didn't have a chance for). It's head scratching that with all the great WRs 2 years ago he came up with the one dud.
