It's no secret ... everyone knows if the C's shoot the 3-ball well, they will advance.
Celtics: 3-point efficiency will likely decide game six by Mark Nilon
The Boston Celtics find themselves on the brink of advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. In tomorrow’s game six, 3-point efficiency will likely determine the outcome.
After a disappointing two-game stretch during this competitive second-round series, the Boston Celtics managed to recapture their dominating level of play from games one and two in Monday’s victorious exhibition and, in turn, find themselves once again in the driver’s seat with a 3-2 lead.
Heading into these Semifinals against the Toronto Raptors, many envisioned the series to go the distance and, according to multiple publications, even viewed Boston as relative underdogs against the defending world champions.
Now, after a back-and-forth first five games, the Cs find themselves just one win away from clinching their third Eastern Conference Finals berth in four seasons.
This series has easily been the most closely-contested second-round matchup during these 2020 playoffs. With All-Stars on both sides in Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker for the Celtics and Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry for Toronto, coupled with amazing key-contributors on both squads, this matchup was destined to be a dog fight right from the get-go.
Amazingly enough, however, during these six games, the end result has not necessarily been determined by the performance by any one specific player but, rather, how the entirety of the team has played and, more specifically, how the team as a whole has performed from beyond the arc.
It is an undeniable fact that each game’s winner found themselves as victors in the 3-point shooting category. In games one and two, when the Boston Celtics reigned supreme, they managed to shoot an impressive 43.6 and 39.5 percent from downtown, respectively, while Toronto only shot 25 and 27.5 percent.
In games three and four, however, the roles were reversed in regard to both long-range shooting and game victor, as the Raptors led the way with 32.5 and 38.6 percent in comparison to Boston’s 31 and a lowly 20 percent.
Game five, as we all know, the Celtics out shot the Raps from (32.4 in comparison to 30 percent) beyond the arc and, in turn, coasted to a 111-89 win.
Like its predecessors, game six will likely be a hard-fought battle until the end and will be heavily influenced by which team can find a way to win the 3-point battle.
Tip-off will commence Wednesday at 6:30 PM (ET) and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Serge Ibaka Questionable For Game 6 September 8th, 2020 at 11:11am CST by Luke Adams
Raptors center Serge Ibaka twisted his left ankle during the second half of the team’s Game 5 loss on Monday, potentially jeopardizing his status for Game 6 on Wednesday. As Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca tweets, Ibaka was in a walking boot today and said that he “will see” about his availability for Wednesday’s game.
Toronto’s initial injury report for Game 6 lists Ibaka as questionable. With the Raptors’ season on the line, down 3-2 to Boston, the big man will presumably do all he can to suit up.

If Nurse hasnt figured out by now that Ibaka is a much better player than Gasol at this point in their careers - Its hard for me to accept that he's coach of the year. Looks like he missed his opportunity to start Ibaka, who should have been starting all along.

What day is it? HAPPY CLOSEOUT DAY EVERYONE! Even if toronto digs deep tonight, they will have nothing left for tomorrow. The odds of losing 2 in a row are less than 15% imo

Fierce, let it go...we are all rooting for the the Celts to get this over with...and yes I do recall the post by Petey that ticked you off...but this is a message board and we all go a little over the top once in a while...go easy and go Celtics!...

Thats what someone said... Someone said that games 5 and 6 were back to back, but that was wrong...every other day... Yeah, I thought it was back to back. But now I'm also seeing Games 6 and 7 as back to back. Maybe the final schedule will be after Game 6, if there's a Game 7.

Maybe the final schedule will be after Game 6, if there's a Game 7. Yahoo sports shows game 7 on 9/11...click on schedule, then advance the days one by one...they have been accurate so far...
please let us all know if anything is different...I would freak if I missed the game...

How can I let it go when Pete said I have to admit to being wrong about Toronto not a problem for the Celts. I offered Pete a deal, he won't take it, but he's asking me to admit to being wrong. Since you can recall the post that ticked me off, there should be no double standard. Just because Pete is nicer than I am, that does not mean he gets away with it.

After Game 4, Pete was even gloating about how right he was about the series being a tough series.
Then Game 5 happened.
Now it's closeout day?
What happened to "this series is going to be 7 games"?

Pete's next move is very predictable.
If the Celts lose Game 6, he will tell me I was wrong because I said it won't reach Game 7.
Today it's closeout day, tomorrow it could be "told ya it was going 7 games".
Double agent?

What day is it? HAPPY CLOSEOUT DAY EVERYONE! Really??? So now you're changing your "assessment" from 7 games to 6 games? I have never rooted for the Celtics to lose a game.......summer league, preseason, regular season, playoffs. I have contributed realistic posts, for example, if I felt the Celtics were huge road underdogs (see Celtics v Wizards series a few years back) but you won't find a "Go Lakers" or "Go Sixers" or any other post rooting for a Celtics loss. I don't take predictions/guesses/assessments/forecasts/projections/conjectures on Celtics games to heart because that's all it is. I'm a Celtics fan and ALL I WANT is for the Celtics to win. We are not going to go back and forth and hijack this thread like we did on the last thread. Maybe we can both agree to NOT MAKE THIS THREAD ABOUT US but about Game 6.

This has to be settled, Pete.
After Game 4 you were gloating about how right you were and that I should man up and admit to being wrong.
Your next move if the Celts lose Game 6 is very predictable.
I'm sure you'll be telling us all how right you were in saying this series is going 7 games if Celts lose Game 6.

Fierce...Petey is one of the most in depth, knowledgeable analysts here...always been must read stuff for me...so he worded one post poorly at the beginning of this series questioning your analytical skills and ability...we all make mistakes, let it go...

ATTENTION ALL BOARD PARTICIPANTS
After sweeping Philly, Fierce posted that "the Celtics will have no problem with Toronto". I took the opposite position and stated that Fierce didn't know what he was talking about if he thought we'd have no problem with Toronto (he took offense to that statement). Feeling he was seriously underestimating the Raptors, I countered with my feeling that this is going to be a hard fought series that I "think would go 7 games".
Mind you.....our debate WAS NEVER over an arbitrary guess on the number of games in the series. Is was always about whether the Celtics would have "no problem" with the Raptors. But, y'all know Fierce and how those goalposts tend to move to suit his argument.
So, let me CONCEDE RIGHT NOW, FIERCE IS RIGHT. THE CELTICS HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH TORONTO IN THIS SERIES AND I WILL BE 100% WRONG WHEN THE CELTICS CLOSEOUT TORONTO TONIGHT.
FIERCE WAS RIGHT. I ADMIT IT. FIRECE WAS RIGHT.
Hopefully that will end this. Fierce, is this considered SETTLING IT?

For the record, I never moved the goal posts.
Check the game threads.
Numerous times I said best case scenario is the Celts sweeping Toronto and worst case is Toronto wins 2 games.
The phrase "tough series" is very subjective.
That's why we need a specific number to get a definite answer.
