Can someone tell Jaylen Brown we're in a ball game here?
Horrible last second execution costs us.
Good job BS and great execution.
Brown didn't show up tonight; neither did Morris. Tatum took the night off and so did Rozier. This team sucks. Best outcome now is to lose every remaining game, get the BS coach we have fired, and remake the team. No heart. Disgusting team to watch.
They almost had me believing after the west coast trip but this team IS NOT championship caliber. They just don't have that championship resolve, that toughness. They don't have that toughness to get a basket when they need one or dig down and make a stop when they need a stop. I love Marcus Smart but this guy makes some of the most boneheaded pass attempts, stupid fouls and hero ball shot attempts of any player on this team. Kyrie is second in these categories but he can, at least, go out and get buckets when you need them. The problem is that Kyrie wastes too possessions trying to get the kind of buckets we don't need instead of involving his team to get the kind of buckets we do need.
I also believe that the young guns (Tatum, Brown, Rozier) are just not ready to consistently be impact players on a championship team. They let a decent (won only one road playoff game last season) 19 game playoffs performance HYPE them into believing they were a whole lot better than they really are. Tatum is the second leading scorer on the Celtics and he's ONLY scoring at 16.0 PPG. Tatum clearly should be at 20 PPG easy but he lacks the mentality and skill to be better. There is NO WAY Tatum should ever settle, or play so bad that his scoring output is 8 points IN ANY GAME.
I really hope Tatum and Brown pass on the 2 day workouts with Kobe and Tracy McGrady and focus on getting better. It's nice that Tatum spent time with Kobe but Jayson Tatum IS NOT KOBE BRYANT. The one area Tatum will always lack is in that killer mentality that Kobe had. And Jaylen Brown will never be the unstoppable scoring force that McGrady once was. So, please stop working out with these guys because you will never be able to do what these greats accomplished. Work with shooting coaches, work with strength coaches, work with agility coaches but leave Kobe and McGrady alone please.
We're a terrible team on the offensive side!! At times we have Smart, Rozier, Morris, Baynes or Theis on the floor together, who in the hell is gonna score?? I blame this on Ainge, he could have traded Rozier or Smart for Tyreke Evans last year, but no, we still have the clang brothers, both thinking they're way better than they actually are!! Ainge didn't try to get Marco Bellinelli, you don't think he would have helped this team?? I look for a first round exit in the playoffs!! Thanks Danny!!
I thought marcus smart had a good game last night.
Belineli can score but pops let him go for d and pops still gets mad at him every game for his d. Lots of teams have had these guys and still were bad.
At this point I'm going to say our problems aren't personnel talent, our problems are chemistry and coaching. Jayson missed some shots, but both J's just weren't paying attention last night. I think both play better when kyrie is out, and that's not on kyrie that's on them.
you trade marcus smart for bellinelli on this team and see what happens.
We will be in the dumps.
This team really needs Gordan Hayward to be available and playing well. Lately, even if he is not shooting well, he moves the ball and gets open looks for teammates. We are a decent offensive team that seems to be in a little bit of funk. I saw Tatum trying to finish with left on one drive, a first for me. Looks like he is trying to add something to his game and is a little off. Horford's knee is balky. Too many issues.
In case you haven't noticed ... Tatum's in a slump.

BOSTON -- The Celtics were up three and getting ready to make a run when Al Horford made a shot a and stole the ball back. He got the ball over to Jayson Tatum for a good look at 3.
Tatum missed.
Eighteen seconds later, Tatum, who had secured a rebound after a Denver miss, got another look from 3.
He missed again.
Misses happen in games, but they’ve been happening to Tatum a lot recently. He went into the All-Star break shooting almost 38 percent from 3, which isn’t nearly as good as the 43.4 percent he shot last season but still very good. Since the break, though, Tatum has shot a very bad 22.9 percent. He’s only made eight of the 35 3′s he’s taken in that stretch, and in March, he’s only hit five of 27.
“He’s a really good shooter, he’s a very capable shooter, and I think that ultimately he’s going to knock those down," Brad Stevens said after the game. "Times when you’re struggling, ti’s all about getting in the gym and shooting your way through it. And you know, for some guys, it’s about ‘don’t take them,’ but for him it’s ‘shoot your way through it.’ Because that has to be one of this strengths.
It was not against the Denver Nuggets, and his cold shooting from beyond the arc spread to his overall touch. Tatum missed nine of the 12 shots he took in this game, including two layups and some fadeaways that are normally his bread and butter. When easy shots aren’t falling, the misses have a tendency to pile up inside a player’s brain.
“You don’t want to overthink it,” Kyrie Irving said, “but when your shot’s not going down you tend to overthink it, and that’s natural for any athlete.”
There’s no way around this for Boston. They need Tatum to be effective from deep if they’re going to make a deep run. If there’s a silver lining for the Celtics, it’s that Tatum’s history of good shooting is still good enough to give his teammates space to operate.
“He’s a good shooter with a wonderful touch, and we need him to be a threat from out there,” said Stevens. "And he is. People are still running at him like he’s making them all.”
Tatum has not looked like himself of late. I think he's settling for jump shots and he's just not strong enough yet to be a consistent finisher in the paint. Against the Nuggets, seems like the only time he pushed the envelope in the paint was when IT4 was guarding him. At 6'8", he's got a length advantage on many wings that guard him yet he's reluctant to "eat" in the paint. I could not believe he took only 2 free throws on Monday.
Tatum sometimes doesn't seem engaged fully, offensively or defensively. He's got to be more aggressive offensively, be more like Kyrie. Being aggressive gets you to the free throw line while settling for jump shots doesn't.
I truly believe Tatum is a 20 PPG scorer NOW but he's limiting himself by his passive play. I wish Kobe would have sat him down and given him some pointers on the "mental" aspect of the game and being a "killer" on the court. He's got the talent, now he has to get the mentality to be great.
Petey...Tatum is limited by the presence of Kyrie...
Looks like Rozier is running his mouth about Embid - I am not a big fan of Embid, but Rozier should shut up...Idiot was 0 for 10 on threes in our last playoff game last year, costing us a trip to the finals...
elvis, YES, Tatum IS limited by Kyrie's presence because he allows himself to be limited by Kyrie's presence. Tatum is the second leading scorer on the team and he needs to have the mentality that he just cannot be stopped. He's got to be more aggressive when he does get the ball. About 3 or 4 games ago, Tatum hadn't even scored in the first half. That has nothing to do with Kyrie's presence and everything to do with Tatum's mentality.
The kids has the tools. He now has to get the mindset that Kyrie's presence or a defender in front of him can't stop him from getting his.
That's what this team needs........another player with the combination of skills and mentality that when he steps on the court, nobody can stop him.

Petey...sounds good to me, how do we get that message over to Tatum?...I think a young guy does somewhat defer out of respect to a star like Kyrie...
