Eduardo may have been left in the 6th inning too long as the 1-0 lead turned into a 4-0 deficit on a 3 run homer ... he was replaced with Joe Kelly who kept it that way ...
till the offense came alive in the 7th with this ...
Then in the 8th, Pearce (a native of Rehoboth MA) ties it up with his blast ...
Holt starts the 9th with a leadoff double ...
and Devers gives the Sox their first lead of the game ...
Pearce secures game MVP with his 2nd huge hit of the night, a base clearing double with the bases juiced and two outs ...
With a 9-4 lead you'd think Kimbrel could secure a win but as usual he had to make it "interesting" giving up a leadoff walk followed by a 2-run homer to give the Dodgers and their fans life 9-6 with nobody out.
So Kimbrel has a fresh start with the bases clear and proceeds to get his 2nd out but still has a runner on 2nd now with Bellinger at bat and Puig on deck as the potential tying run should Bellinger get on base and Puig homer ... but here's what happened!

The Dodgers have a 5 year 80 mil contract with closer Kenley Jansen allowing him to opt out after the 3rd year.
After his last two appearances giving up crucial homers.... lets let him opt out early, if only he would.

BTW, I wonder if Price will avenge Pearce as Sale would have tonight for another dirty play by Machado?
Accident? So unfortunate that the same thing happened in the NLCS and coincidently again in the WS, especially vs the Sox!

Oh, and in case you didn't think the ump was trying to help the Dodgers in the 13th inning of game3 when he issued a leadoff walk rather than a strike-out on the check swing that advanced over the plate, what say you about last nights game4 "no call" on the controversial Bellinger jaunt to 1st blocking Vazquez's throw for the double play? Not reviewable as it's a so called "Judgement Call" according to MLB by the ump ... how convenient for the Dodgers at home getting a "no call" as Bellinger ends up at 3rd on the deflected ball into the outfield.
Good thing for the Sox that this ump's call had no affect on the outcome as the one in game 3 ...

Critical no-call ultimately had no impactThe Red Sox may have won Game 4 of the ALCS because of a judgment call by an umpire. They could have lost Game 4 of the World Series because of one. Here's the situation: with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth Cody Bellinger hit a ground ball to Steve Pearce at first. Pearce threw home and got the lead runner and Christian Vazquez threw the ball away at first base allowing a run to score, breaking a 0-0 tie. Here's the problem, though: Bellinger absolutely should have been ruled out at first for interference. Here's why: You know that box in the final 45 feet of the first baseline? That is there because runners are supposed to get in it to get out of the line of view for a first baseman receiving a throw. Bellinger was not in that box. He was actually outside of it toward the left completely. Vazquez's throw crossed Bellinger's back, nearly scraping it, and went past the bag at first. Pearce never had a chance to catch a ball he would have gotten a glove on. That is the definition of Rule 5.09(a) in MLB's rulebook. The problem is it is entirely a judgement call . The home plate umpire clearly judged the ball was uncatchable.
