The 49ers are sending New England their fifth-round pick in the deal and getting a third-round pick in return, according to Adam Schefter. The move gives San Francisco three selections in Round 3, Nos. 70, 74 and 95. So we get a vet OL for moving down 48 spots (1.5 rounds). Sounds like compensation for Garappolo to me! The 49ers and Patriots obviously have a good working relationship after getting together on the Jimmy Garoppolo trade in October. New England has a need along the offensive line after losing tackle Nate Solder to the Giants. He signed a four-year, $62 million contract last month at the start of free agency. Brown is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. And listed at 355 pounds, weight has been an ongoing issue throughout his football career dating back to his time at Florida. It’s likely among the reasons he lasted until Round 7 in the 2015 draft. Brown is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The 49ers made the cost effective move by finding his potential replacement in the draft rather than doling out a lucrative contract next spring. Brown has emerged as one of the league’s most promising right tackles given his immense length and athleticism since becoming a starter in 2016. He’s renowned for his pass protection but is considered inconsistent in the running game. ninerswire.usatoday.com/2018/04/27/report-49ers-send-trent-brown-to-patriots-in-draft-day-trade-utm_sourcenotifutm_campaignninerswire/

If Brown is healthy he's a stud. They have addressed the OL with he and Wynn who's both a OT and OG.
I can never figure out BB's drafting. They desperately need LBs. They essentially drafted the best man available. Michel is a healthier, younger, cheaper version of Lewis. After the Pats took Dawson there was a strong run on DBs. BB wanted a DB and made a move at the right time. I think they wanted Rashaan Evans, but he went just before Wynn. I also think they had a couple TEs in mind and traded down after they were picked.
They got great players, even if all the needs we see weren't met.
I hope they have a plan for the LBs, I trust they do, but I ain't seen it yet, and yes that's concerning.
Up coming they have: Fourth round, 105th overall Fifth round, 143rd overall Sixth round, 198th overall Sixth round, 210th overall Seventh round, 219th overall
Also the Bears 2nd rounder in 2019 which should be high.
They have capitol to move up if they like Lauletta or Falk as a QB.

Welp I'm totally bamboozled unless they think 2019 is a gold mine:
2019 1st 2nd 2nd (via Bears) 3rd (via Lions) 3rd (projected comp) 3rd (projected comp) 4th 5th 6th (projected comp) 7th 7th (projected comp)

I saw this bottom line from Ty Sullivan of 24/7 sports, thus far for the JG deal:
Patriots ultimately ended up trading Garoppolo for a second and third-round pick in 2019, linebacker Christian Sam out of Arizona State, and was also partially involved in the drafting of Florida corner Duke Dawson
Duke Dawson figures to be a top Nickel CB, covering the slot receiver. In the Pats D he'd be on the field more than half the time.
The actual max value for JG's return was a 2nd and a 3rd
Alex Smith fetched Kendall Fuller a top Nickel CB and a 3rd rounder (OLB Dorian O'Daniel).
As maddening as trading out is, they got great VALUE. My guess is either trade for vets this year or move up next year because they have a sh!t ton of picks in 2019
