So after watching Jamal Murray drain 79 out of 100 3's last week, Celtics brass today witnessed Buddy Hield make 85. He needs to be back in the conversation. But he's a one trick pony ... Here's a cheaper Hield that can probably be signed as an "undrafted" player; www.draftexpress.com/profile/Brannen-Greene-7219/Never got to prove himself (clashed with coach) but stats project him to be a "Sniper." Despite not having the most productive collegiate career, NBA teams are still showing interest in Greene, in large part due to his ability to be a knock down shooter with a lightning quick release and unlimited range at 6'7”. During the draft process, they will try to dig deeper and find out how much of Greene's struggles were his fault and how much were due to poor fit. Scouts will get a different look at him and his skill-set in individual workouts leading up to the draft and a strong few months could see him work his name into draft consideration. Teams will want to know if Greene can get on the same page with a coaching staff and accept a role, even if it's that of a J.R. Smith or Nick Young type sparkplug off the bench.

True but eventually they seem to come around ... maybe we should D&S this one for a few years till he's ripe. You are not seriously suggesting we have a young Young and a green Greene on our roster, are you...... I guess not ... what I am really trying to say is there are better options than Hield for #3 that make more sense. BTW, Several members of Boston’s staff, including president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and coach Brad Stevens, traveled to California to watch the two complete individual workouts. Hield and Chriss did not compete against each other. “It went well,” Ainge said by telephone. “I would say there were no real surprises. Buddy Hield is a really good shooter and a hard-working, well-conditioned player. He’s a great kid and a guy that’s ready to step in and play. Very, very, impressive. “And Marquese Chriss is a young and very athletic player that has a lot of growth still to his game, but he has an enormous upside.” According to a league source, 18-year-old Croatian prospect Dragan Bender is expected to come to Boston for a workout on June 21. The 7-foot-1-inch Bender, who just completed his professional season in Israel, is one of the more intriguing unknowns in this draft, and is likely to be a top-five selection. www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2016/06/13/celtics-work-out-oklahoma-buddy-hield-washington-marquese-chriss/CROWvwuDYM2aedZt7UHcSI/story.html

Hield is a safe pick. If Hield does not become a 1st tier player in the NBA, he will be a contributor on any NBA team because of his shooting ability.
I still say Ainge should pick Hield at #3 if the Celts opt to keep the pick. It's a safe pick.

I still say Ainge should pick Hield at #3 if the Celts opt to keep the pick. It's a safe pick. Buddy Hield's chances at being an All-Star (14%), Starter (14%), Bench Player (42%) or a Bust (30%). Your original pick, Poeltl is the safest ... All-Star (12%), Starter (32%), Bench (41%) or Bust (16%). Poeltl has a combined chance of being a Starter or All-Star of 44% compared to Hield's combined rate of only 28%.

I've seen Poeltl a lot and he just doesn't have the motor I think he should have. My first thought was Rick Smits. I don't see that at all now. He's not even really nba althletic, although he is skilled. I'm a mo-valley fan but I can't recommend Poeltl at 3. I'd be tempted to take heild.
Remember, a project guy can move by the time he's seriously contributing, no matter the upside. Heild will fill a void now. As would Poeltl for that matter.

We had better take Brown if that happens. Then swing a trade for Chriss who could drop. But Brown wont drop.

Mark Medina @markg_Medina 4h4 hours ago Buddy Hield expressed confidence that Lakers will select him at No. 2 Buddy Hield wasn’t satisfied with his shooting performance during his private workout for the Los Angeles Lakers at their practice facility in El Segundo, California, on Saturday, so he asked for another try. And then another one.
During his last go-round, which was in front of a contingent of media, Hield started off hot before missing consecutive shots. He began yelling to pump himself up, saying, “C’mon Buddy Fresh!” After the pep talk, Hield went on a shooting streak, exhibiting the elite stroke that made the Lakers bring him in for a second workout and has them considering him with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft on Thursday. When asked how “Buddy Fresh” inspired the uptick in shooting, Hield revealed his on-court alter ego. espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lakers/post/_/id/43168/buddy-fresh-hield-channels-alter-ego-in-lakers-workout“It’s my own nickname. It’s my alter ego,” Hield said. “I gave it to myself. That’s something I did. I’m just like that. I’m that type of dude.”
