Bad GS game plan or total disrespect for Jaylen Brown? Bizarre Warriors tactic opens door to historic Celtics halfBy Brian Robb | brobb@masslive.com
BOSTON — The Celtics offense reached new heights on Sunday afternoon against the Warriors and it all started with a bizarre decision from the visitors. Jaylen Brown knocked down a wide-open 3-point on the first possession of the game as no Warriors defender attempted to contest him at the arc. That trend continued for much of the first quarter as Draymond Green elected to leave the Celtics All-Star open on the perimeter. Brown took advantage of the prevalent open looks almost immediately, scoring 19 points in the first seven minutes of the game, including going 5-of-8 from 3-point range before hitting the bench with three minutes left in the period. Golden State was shorthanded for the matchup without a pair of starters in Andrew Wiggins (personal) and Brandon Podzienski (right knee soreness). However, the choice to allow Brown feast on open looks clearly backfired for Golden State as Brown found his rhythm early and piled up a game-high 25 points in the first half over just 18 minutes of action.

What kind of DUMB tactic was that....to leave JB open for easy shots?
Sometimes, coaches try to outsmart themselves and they turn out looking STUPID.
They earned that 52-point butt-whippin'.
Big one on Tuesday vs CLE. Keep it up. Continue to put the rest of the NBA on notice.

We can go 12 and 10 the rest of the way and still win 60! My 62 win prediction may be low!!

They're playing with a lot of confidence right now, and in my mind confidence is mostly what they've lacked.
I don't think they're scared of the Warriors after tonight. Can we say that monkey is off our back?

Two things: The Warriors are no longer their Boogeymen. The Denver game is very possibly a preview of the Finals.

Ball is moving. We are sharing it. Everyone touches it. Rare ISO plays = success. If we play like thins in the playoffs, we will finally hang it. Guys are actually getting it.

Draymond Green, tasked with defending Brown, repeatedly sagged off the Celtics’ All-Star. Even when Brown had the ball, Green kept his distance and dared the Boston wing to let it fly. The strategy was meant to allow Green to roam off his man and cause havoc elsewhere. Right or wrong, some of the Celtics players believed Golden State tried the maneuver at least partly for another reason: To get inside Brown’s head. “I found it more like a mind game,” Jrue Holiday told The Athletic. “I think some people try to do that. But JB is built different. His mental is at a different level. So he’s probably not the best person to do that to.” – via The Athletic Draymond Green, Jrue Holiday, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors “For the most part, my job is to take it to the paint,” Brown said. “We got enough 3-point shooters on the team. So I don’t take a lot of 3s for the most part throughout the season because we got enough of that. I get to the paint and I usually open it up for everyone else. But if you want to dare me to shoot, we can do that, too. I thought it was a little disrespectful. But we took advantage of it and we hit them back.” – via The Athletic Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

Jared Weiss: Steph Curry was asked about the Celtics being motivated by the Finals loss: “We’ve played them 4 times since, so that narrative’s gotten old. But they’re the best team in the league right now and they played like it…They played their ass off and that was hard to watch from the other side.” – via Twitter JaredWeissNBA Stephen Curry, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors
Kendra Andrews: Curry said he didn’t doubt he’d play today because his knee hadn’t swelled more and he didn’t feel pain during warmups. He added that his 35 minutes of rest doesn’t feel substantial because his limited minutes were physical and he still went through his full pregame routine. – via Twitter kendra__andrews Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors

not going to take away much about yesterday. one of those games where the dub's simply did not show up. I have mainatained for the entire season now, if healthy and rested, the only team that can beat the C's, are the C's them selves. sure it could happen. that's why they play the games rather than annoit the best team the championship.
it would not surprise me to see more a pull back of minutes as the team secures playoff status tiers.
number of wins is irrelevent, home court through out is paramount

Don't look now, but the Nugs have won 6 in a row, and are .5 games out of first place in the West.

Here’s a list of the 10 best net-ratings ever, according to Stat Muse, which calculates the statistic slightly different. Still, only MJ’s Bulls have been more dominant than this year’s Celtics.
