Gotta give kudos to Ainge for drafting Tatum over whoever the other guy was...no disrespect to the other guy... PHI took Markelle Fultz with the first pick LAL took Lonzo Ball with the second pick Tatum was third. I try to tell my LA friends that Magic blew this draft. LA wanted Ball, and told the whole world. Magic also reportedly offered Randle and the #2 pick to Ainge. BUT, that would be to take Fultz. PHI only wanted Fultz. It as a risk by Ainge, who has said from Day 1 that he would have taked Tatum even if they kept #1. I also think Brown is better than the two taken over him - Simmons and Ingram. So, Danny knew how to evaluate talent, and Brad knows how to add to a good team. We've been lucky! 100 % agree!

Souichi Terada: Kristaps Porzingis on getting boos from MSG crowd: “I enjoy it, to be honest. They went down in my years in Washington. I was still getting booed. But they’ve ramped up a little bit, me being with the Celtics.” – via Twitter SouichiTerada Top Rumors, Fans, Kristaps Porzingis, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks
Michael Scotto: Kristaps Porzingis had high praise for Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday. “JT, he deserves a lot of credit because he can say F it. I want to score 30 every night. I want to get MVP. But he’s not doing that. I think people are overlooking that. You have to give him… pic.twitter.com/JWJFNHg80o

Jared Weiss: Joe Mazzulla on Jayson Tatum: “I thought today was a beautiful display of basketball from Jayson. It will go overlooked and it won’t go in the most valuable category….My hat’s off to him for knowing that’s a way for us to win.” – via Twitter JaredWeissNBA Joe Mazzulla, Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
After the Boston Celtics claimed their season-best eighth straight victory Saturday night, defeating the New York Knicks 116-102 at Madison Square Garden, Boston now has an eight-game cushion over the second-place Cleveland Cavaliers atop the Eastern Conference. That is a bigger gap than the one between the West-leading Minnesota Timberwolves and the eighth-place Phoenix Suns (7 games). But rather than applauding their league-leading performance through the first two-thirds of the season, the Celtics instead said they have higher levels to reach. “It’s just the way kind of the season has gone,” Celtics center Al Horford said. “We’ve kind of held our own, continued to work through things. Obviously the Sixers have injuries, different teams have different stuff going on, so that all goes into account. – via ESPN Al Horford, Boston Celtics
Tim Bontemps: Jaylen Brown said he isn’t aware of how big of a lead Boston has in the standings. “When you get to the playoffs, none of that stuff really matters.” Says the focus is on taking things one day at a time and preparing for the postseason. – via Twitter TimBontemps Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

He put on a Manchester City match for the Celtics. He explained the philosophies that have made their manager, Pep Guardiola, one of the sport’s best. He showed his team that, like soccer, basketball is a continuum. “That is what the game of basketball is about, to me, and what counterattacking in soccer is about,” Mazzulla told The Athletic. “So I study a lot of Man City. I study Pep a lot. I think he’s the best coach at any level, in any sport. It’s had a huge influence (on me).” – via The Athletic Top Rumors, Coaching, Joe Mazzulla, Boston Celtics
The question for Mazzulla was whether he could get his players to understand and embrace this vision. So he had to find a way to communicate in a way that both introduced them to his thought process while showing how it translated on the court. “Soccer and basketball, when I watch it, it’s kind of the same sport from that tactical standpoint of how do you create advantages?” Mazzulla said. “How do you create two-on-ones? How do you recognize weaknesses in the defense and how do you take advantage of angles?” – via The Athletic Coaching, Joe Mazzulla, Boston Celtics
“Pep, his style, it’s like that same Barcelona style, getting everybody involved, getting everybody touching the ball,” Horford said. “I feel like every couple games, Joe’s showing clips to us of possessions where everybody’s touching it and how the ball has energy. When the ball is moving and everybody’s touching it, something good is happening. That’s when we’re playing at our best.” – via The Athletic Coaching, Joe Mazzulla, Boston Celtics

When pressed about why Blake Griffin isn’t suiting up with the team this season, Payton Pritchard and Derrick White acknowledged that the team’s roster has tried to get him back to Boston. “I don’t know. We begged him to,” Pritchard told PMT. “I think the whole team has been begging him to,’ White added. – via Booth Newspapers Top Rumors, Free Agency, Blake Griffin, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics
Several members of the team reached out to Griffin back during the team’s West Coast trip in December I’m told about a potential return. However, the outreach from the Celtics has continued in recent weeks. “I texted him actually a week ago or two jokingly being like, ‘Coming back for one last ride?’ He says he’s enjoying his life,” Pritchard said. Show host Dan Katz then proceeded to call up Griffin during the appearance with Pritchard and White, deflecting when asked about a potential return later this season. “We talk quite a bit,” Griffin said. “I’m just enjoying my life right now guys.” – via Booth Newspapers Free Agency, Blake Griffin, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics
In his brief show appearance on Monday, Griffin also continued to heap praise on his former teammates. “They’re my favorites,” Griffin said of Boston’s title chances. “I don’t guarantee, I don’t want to put bad juju on them but they are the heavy favorites in my mind.” – via Booth Newspapers Free Agency, Blake Griffin, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics
