Hey i like Brogdon. Plays hard keeps his mouth shut. He's on the trading block and he knows it. He was Stevens plan A and when that fell thu Smart was plan B. 50% shot he's traded and if not 50% he's hurt during the season.. Exactly...and 100% says he is a whiny little bitch...making $20 million a year and can't be counted on to show up...we needed another freaking guard like the Padres needed another shortstop...idiot management...only difference is this prick couldn't stay healthy enough to trade him...and whines about it!...unbelievable... What about the whiney little bitch who wanted Portland to rescind the trade after he and his agent had been pounding the table for a trade? www.foxsports.com/stories/nba/damian-lillard-wanted-to-rescind-trade-request-if-he-didnt-go-to-heat-trail-blazers-refusedDrewski captured exactly what Brogdan is: A starting capable player who can play multiple positions well, play D, drive to the hoop and shoot. He DIDN'T whine. He didn't say anything. It was reporters putting words in his mouth. You'd have to have rocks in your head not to want that type of player. Unbelievable...Milwaukee might want to rescind their deal for that putz.

Holiday is better than ANY guard the Cs last year and would make the Smart groupies forget all about him within a week. He's probably the best defending guard in the NBA and can -gasp- actually shoot. With Lilatard being the putz he is Miami with Jru would be the biggest obstacle to the Cs

Also with Butler and Jru being older those Miami picks might be quite valuable in a couple years.

Boston- Bertans, Jaylin Williams and Jalen Williams
OKC- Brogdan and 3 1st rounders
(Because we can't afford 1st round picks anyway! New CBA!)

For those really interested, NOT counting any draft picks or swaps, this trade works.....not that ANY of the teams would do it......LOL Clippers get Harden ( who wants to go there) and Springer PHI gets Brogdon and Marcus Morris (who is from there....ha ha) POR gets draft picks, Powell, PP (who is from there....ha ha) and Horford BOS gets Holiday.
Not sure I'd do that.........but it does work.

The price for Holiday likely starts at two first-round picks, but several teams in the mix have the means and motivation to go beyond that. The LA Clippers are reportedly in the hunt for the defensive stalwart, but they have continued to engage the Celtics in trade talks for Brogdon throughout the offseason, league sources told The Athletic under the condition of anonymity so they could speak freely. – via Jared Weiss @ The Athletic Top Rumors, Trade, Malcolm Brogdon, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers

We could move Brogdon to the Clips, Clips move Powell to IND, we get Heild and (Coffey?) No picks, and that works also

Just the opposite to me, teams OVER the higher tax apron will WANT picks. That will be the only way along with vet minimum deals to add talent to the team. Jalen Williams seems redundant on this team with Tatum and Brown anyway, IMO.

I like the team we have right now. Let's see what the new gu ys can do. Brogs has two years left. I would trade him for Hield or Jrue, but I really don't think we have the assets for Jrue. POR wants to go young. PP going back home would have to be part of it. I'm NOT for trading TimeLord for him, though. Plus, they just got Ayton I like this team as-is. Drewski makes a great point on Brogdan being starter capable and the ideal 6th man who can do a lot of things well. We need to see how this group meshes before thinking on changes. The C's need to concentrate on themselves and not worry about how well (or not) Milw or Miami do. I understand this, and I would also hesitate to shake things up for the sake of shaking things up - but Jrue is a rare player and a very good fit. The league changed, then changed again, then changed again, and it will keep changing. One of the more recent changes is teams easing up on the switches. Even like 3 years ago, everyone was so switch happy on D - however, it led to defenses scrambling too much (and NBA players only need a step of space to hurt you). It also leads to blown assignments, general confusion, and too much running around on D. Guys were getting open or getting on mismatches. So the league changed again, and you really want 5 versatile on ball defenders these days. So 2's (who can also cover 1's and 3's) but can also contribute on offense (like Jrue, Dwhite). 3's who can also cover 2's and 4's and contribute on offense (like Brown, Tatum). ANd 4's who can also cover 5's but also somewhat cover the perimeter and stay in front of guys. Pure 1's and pure 5's (like RWill) are fading out because they arent versatile enough defensively and teams can exploit that (the Heat did). Jrue is the type of player that it takes to win in todays NBA. He's a phenomenal and versatile defender on anyone under 6'8. One of the best in the NBA. He's also a quality scorer. This is what you want. 2's, 3's and 4's who can create, defend (with versatility), and score. Horford is perfect for the modern NBA due to his versatility and ability to defend on ball. RWill is a great help defender, but he's not really someone you want on Giannis or even Embiid. Al even though hes old, is still much better here and like Ive said can also pull the opposing big out of the middle (unlike RWill). A starting rotation of JRue, Brown, Tatum, Al, Porz is so good defensively and offensively. White slides into that sixth man occupied by Brogdon and like Brogdon is a long guard (good wingspan) giving him the ability to cover multiple positions. Yes, of course, you'd need to make a balancing trade or 2, but we can do that. Get a couple PF/C types with all of our second rd picks packaged with guys like Pritch, Hauser to match contracts or maybe even packaged with TPEs. Teams are savvy these days and it has kind of become your D is only as strong as its weakest link. Cuz NBA coaches know how to hunt. Guys like Pritch, Hauser, RWill get hunted all the live long way, and its why pritch cant get minutes (teams immediately hunt him) and its why RWill got exposed vs the heat (not defensively versatile nor really an on ball defender). I think that we could package Pritch with a second rd pick or 2 for a PF/C. ANd bring in even another one, using guys like Hauser or Kornet or a TPE (with a couple more seconds) to add frontcourt depth with Rob going in the deal (Has to be Rob, cant be Al). Jrue is really really good, and enough of this knocking on the door. Its time to bring one home. Yes, we're quite good as is, but not looking to get better if you can is complacency.

Lillard then said if a deal couldn't be worked out with the Heat, he would prefer to rescind his trade request and return to the Trail Blazers.
Cronin's response to the seven-time All-Star was that there was no coming back.
Lillard was shocked, sources said. He said it was discouraging to hear he couldn't return, but added that he didn't want to be somewhere he wasn't wanted, and he ended the meeting.
Lillard was still hopeful a deal with the Heat was within reach. However, he had to face the realization that he might not be moved.
So on Sept. 11, he started showing up at the Trail Blazers' practice facility to work out. He went in for eight days. He said Cronin did not address him once.
"I went into the facility because I was still on the roster and usually that time of the year is when team activities start to pick up as a group. I wasn't confident I would be moved so I showed up to be in the mix," Lillard told B/R.
"I didn't go there to cause any problems," Lillard continued. "That's not my character. If they felt that way, it wasn't my intent. I was just trying to get acclimated and everyone was happy to see me. Every single person except Joe. He never spoke to me. And when I noticed that, I made up in my mind that I'm not going out my way to speak to him."

I would think Holiday, White Brown, Tatum and Pingus would work better.
keep the wear and tear on Horford down some as the 6th man in that case.

That was fast ... Brad waives the recently signed law firm of Funk & Schakel as well as newly signed & waived Brandon Slater. The 3 swingmen will join the Maine Celtics when their camp opens on Oct 30th and in the meantime they can remain with the big club as "affiliate players" even though they have been cut in this camp. The NBA allows teams to have 4 "affiliate players" in camp.
That means the C's have 3 open roster spots right now in the camp and Brad should be filling them shortly. He may want to consider a few frontcourt bodies ... let me suggest a partial guaranteed contract to Nerlens Noel for starters and another PF.
