4 minutes to the Half ... 48-37 Nuggets

59-42 Denver at the Half
Strus & Martin 0-12 ... used up all their gas on the Celtics, running on fumes now.
Heat have nobody to defend Gordon (14pts) and Porter Jr (10pts) ... Murray leads with 18pts and Jokic playing it cool with 10pts.
For the Heat ... Bam leads with 16pts, Vincent 8pts and Butler 7pts. Off the bench only Highsmith has helped with 6pts

0-14 now for Strus (0-8) and Martin (0-6) ... Reversion to the mean has struck but the big question is how long will it last given their long run thru the rest of the POs. 67-51 4:30 into Q3
Bam is theonly Heat player that's been effective with 22pts.

Do you like apples?...How do you like them apples?...
Such a pathetic fail by the Celtics...I do believe thay would have won in game 7 if not for Jason Tatum getting hurt in the first minute...but we never should have been in that position by LOSING THE FIRST TWO GAMES AT BOSTON GARDEN!!!...
So now we watch a boring series, probably a sweep, against a team we probably would have lost against anyways...but at least we would not have been bored...errr...

Their guys that killed the Celtics ran out of gas tonight (Martin & Strus) ... I thought all along this was Denver's year but I hoped we got in and had enough fire power to render them defenseless for another shot at a Championship.
If the Heat go down in 4-5 games our guys will be haunted for losing those 1st three games to the Heat.
For now, celebrate Jokic and I love Murray (my alt-pick if not Brown) and wanted home town free agent Bruce Brown Jr. on our bench so happy for these guys.

Bam (26), Vincent (19) & Highsmith (18) top scorers for Heat ... WOW!
Butler (13), Lowry (11), Martin (3), Robinson (3) and Strus (0) ... WTF!

Yeah, whatever...as I just discussed with my 10 year old son, if Tatum had not messed up his ankle in the very first play of the game, we could be watching something interesting...the Heat and Butler sukkkk...I understand arrogance is a big quality needed to achieve success, but Butler is a prick...

Yup, I didn't have my iPhone to comment watching the game in a bar and I had to hear the Heat's shots just ain't falling. The SOBs couldn't miss against us and I think other than 1 or maybe 2 times down the court they scored every time. But we couldn't get closer than -7 but I think , water under the bridge, if we were within a few points to tie they might have cracked. Truth is we took an awful game to shoot poorly. Yup, horse is out of the barn but just winning 1 of the 2 games at home maybe we'd be playing Denver. But, I tell you, Jokic would be tough to defend & put 2 men on him he passes out tot very good shooters so maybe we'd be losing another finals series.

I think he has proven to be more consistent than JB and a better 3pt shooter.

Nuggets take Game 1 then roll over giving up double-digit lead to lose it by double digits in Q4 of Game 2 ... Series tied 1-1 going to Philly.
Nuggets take back HCA in Game 3 as Jokic and Murray roll ... 2-1 Denver
Game 4 is a must win for the Heat and the two stars for Denver didn't have it tonight (Fri 6/9) and the refs got 5 fouls on Jokic going into Q4 but the Denver roll players bailed them out with big games from Gordon (26pts) and Boston native Bruce Brown Jr (21pts).
For the Heat Butler & Bam were OK but Vincent & Strus were no shows while Martin & Robinson each had a dozen or less. Miami had to rely on Lowry & Love to help off the bench but the best they could provide was 12-13 pts each.
Denver going home for Game 5 on Monday 6/12 up 3-1 in the series and the Heat now know what the Celtics had to endure to avoid a gentleman's sweep. Can't say I pity them as their luck finally runs out and I have "no more tears" for them after spilling mine for losing to those bums!

Sure wish we could have seen the Celtics play the Nuggets, sort of a waste of time with the Heat in there...Celtics would have done better... I actually have been watching the woeful Padres instead of the NBA Finals when they conflict...Padres won yesterday 9-6...

Yup, I wish we were in the finals too but I would not be happy losing again as we did last year to Golden State. We were the better team but damn Curry got out of his mind killing us as did Strus and Martin in Game 7 and ran out of gas doing so in this series.
I copy and paste comments I made previously :
Personally, I felt Denver was going to sweep but they fortunately had a bad 2 game while we had a bad 7 game combined with Miami being very hot with 3s. Of course, I’m unhappy we are not in the finals but truthfully albeit we are are a better team than Miami, I don’t know if we’d had more than 2 games vs Denver. Incredible stat that never had two players from the same team had 30-point triple-doubles in the same game in the regular season or in the playoffs. Jokic and Murray made history doing so last night.
First of all I feel Murray is as good as Tatum & Brown. But Jokic is the best big man in the game and better than Embiid, I feel. A commentator said he was like a Larry Bird and McHale combined. Remembering good big men yup Chamberlain, Shaq, Parish, Moses Malone, Ewing were all good big men but specifically in the post as they did not have the outside perimeter and 3s shooting as Jokic. I could not envision us stopping Jokic any better than Miami and seeing Horford just hugging him and fouling out. Maybe we were spared a real embarrassment being thrashed in the finals. We do need a competent big man going forward because when our 3s are not falling and when they cover drives to the basket, a big man who can score frees the others from defense a bit.

Yeah I hear ya...but basically there is something wrong with this core and the coaching...Tatum is footloose and fancy free and one of the most talented guys in the league, but is hot and cold...Brown is intense and dilligent, but somehow can't handle the bright lights...guys get hurt, blah blah blah...and the coaching?...heck where do we even begin?...Downhill since Stevens...can you believe that is even possible?...wow... But so far as these finals go, yeah, I wanted to see the Celtics...Win, lose, or draw...

So here we are: Game 5 back in The Mile High City and the Nuggets are looking to close it out with a Gentlemen's Sweep of the "Cold as Ice" and no longer "White Hot" Heat.
Seems their "white hot" came just in time for the playoffs boosted by a #1 Seed (Bucks) that was w/o their Big Kahuna (Giannis) for the first few games of their 1st round series and that worked to Miami's benefit as they were just coming into their hot streak winning the 2nd game of a Play-In competition to get them the final seed (8th) of the Eastern Conference.
Having to confront the Giannis-less Bucks was just what Riley and his swashbuckling team needed to get them fired up for the Playoffs. Beating the Bucks helped their undrafted players gain confidence and believe in their triumvirate of Spoelstra-Butler-Adebayo to lead them deeper into the East. By the time they got to Round 2 and the Knicks they were pumped, confidence and had found consistency of play something few of their opponents in the East have been able to bottle this season.
The Knicks, who had their best season in years if not decades, gave the Heat a minor challenge and by the time the Heat met the Celtics in Round 3 Butler was predicting another Game 1 upset. Pretty c**ky coming from an undersized, short-handed and one of if not the worse offensive teams in the East.
But right he was and the Heat didn't back down and took three in a row to put the C's backs against the wall. Of course, as you know, the C's didn't fold and took the next three games in their own run of good luck to force a 7th game. Unfortunately the C's lacking consistency all season had their EC run come to a screeching halt while the amazing run for Martin, Vincent, Strus and some guy named Highsmith found itself again just in time for the final nail in the Celtic coffin. And Robinson (a MA native) who lost his spot in the rotation to Strus suddenly came alive too just in time for that final stake to the heart of the Finals longing fans in TD Garden ...
So to see the Nuggets manhandle the Heat losing just 1 game so far in Miami and on the cusp of a gentleman's sweep makes it worse for Celtic fans and the team/franchise knowing or at least believing that they could have put up a much better fight than what we've seen from the Heat.
Bottom line ... we all knew the Heat were playing well above their talent level and eventually they'd fall back to earth as reversion to the mean is a proven reality. It's just a question of when and the C's didn't get the reversion but the Nuggets are! C's can only blame themselves though for not playing good defense all year, being inconsistent, too dependent on 3 pointers and failure to defeat a zone defense.
I for one don't think any team was gonna beat this Denver Nuggets Team ... a team of destiny if you will. We (Celtics) are better off losing as we did than suffering another Finals Loss at this stage of the game. This outcome will stand to make the GM, HC and Players work harder to attain their final goal.
Looking forward to some changes to the team for another exciting challenge next season and hoping we will finally have the "right stuff" to win that elusive 18th chip.
Oh, least I forget ... good luck to Denver and I hope you put the final nail in the Heat's coffin in Game 5 tonight ... Herro or no Herro!
And HC Malone won't let his team become complacent for Game 5 ... here's what he's saying:

Refs seem to be favoring the Heat in the parts of the game I've seen ... the Extender worked his magic for Butler on that 3-ptr where he clearly kicked his defender who gave him the same landing space he began with on a vertical defense.
90-89 DEN with 24 ticks left in the game ... make that 92-89 on Caldwell-Pope FTs
Time Out MIAMI ... Take Note Mazz!
