Our chances of winning go up when Derrick White is on the floor! There is no weakness in his game! Looks like Smart's injury was a blessing in disguise. Derrick White's game has gone up a notch since he became a starter.

Are you insinuating that White leapfrog Smart as starting PG?

Are you insinuating that White leapfrog Smart as starting PG? No. Smart will always be the starter. But White has really stepped up since starting in place of Smart. Looks like White has found his niche in Boston.

Joe also made a great call by making Hauser a starter a few games ago.
Sam's confidence is sky high now.
Looks like signing another wing is not a priority anymore.
Danny Green goes to Cleveland.

I don't think the C's wanted to risk adding another player coming back from ACL/LCL surgery with Rob and Al always at risk ... no need for 1 more when you can pursue the younger/healthier Barton or even sign Snell.

Cs better off going with Snell. Barton will want to play and he's not going to get that in Boston.

Sounds like GSW will consummate the trade by 9:30PM (EST) as long as the NBA will agree to sanctions as part of the trade which could mean POR losing a draft pick as a fine or giving GS another pick as compensation. In any event, it's not likely that GS will screw the other two teams involved in this trade over the matter. Warriors File Complaint Over Gary Payton II TradeFebruary 12th 2023 at 11:31am CST by Arthur Hill The NBA has started an investigation of the Trail Blazers for possibly providing misleading information after receiving a complaint from the Warriors regarding a four-team trade involving Gary Payton II, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. Payton failed a physical with Golden State’s medical staff after being acquired from Portland on Thursday. The Warriors have a deadline of 9:30 pm Eastern time today to decide whether to keep Payton or rescind the entire deal, which would also affect the Pistons and Hawks. The Warriors’ doctors determined that Payton has a core muscle injury that could keep him out of action for up to three months. The injury prevented him from playing until January 2, but he had been a regular part of the Blazers’ rotation since then. Portland general manager Joe Cronin spoke to reporters about the situation on Friday, saying he didn’t do anything to mislead the Warriors.

Why not?
We want to rest Brown and Tatum before playoffs ... how many games left - 25?
He could get plenty of time as backup 3/4 here and be an asset in playoffs with his shooting, passing & ball handling.

According to HoopsRumors.com
The Spurs have released veteran forward Stanley Johnson, the team announced today in a press release.
Johnson signed with San Antonio in mid-December and averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds off the bench in 30 games while shooting 45% from three-point range. Despite being drafted in 2015, he’s only 26 and could spark some interest among contending teams on the buyout market.

So why would Green pick Cavs over Celtics (we can pay more) ... it wasn't a money issue. At 35, Green needs a bigger role than backup to a contender?
Maybe the C's pulled out ...

If Smart comes back then White, Hauser, and Brogs come off the bench again because the Celts are using a double big lineup. Brad mentioned that if they sign another wing then that would only take minutes away from players in the rotation. I think Joe can rest the Jays if Hauser, White, and Brogs get extra playing time after the All-Star break. Celts will most likely have all players back healthy after the All-Star break. Barton is also more of a 2/3 than a 3/4. Moose and Grant are most likely the 4/5 backups. So if fully healthy, the Celts have White, Brogs, Grant, Moose, and Hauser to complete the 10-man rotation. I'm not against signing Barton, I just think he will prefer to sign elsewhere where he can get more playing time.

The Cavs only have Donovan and LeVert at SG. Looks like Green prefers playing time over money.

Are you insinuating that White leapfrog Smart as starting PG? If KYs not i am. Been some talk for years even from Pud on making Smart the 6th man. Now seems the time to make the move.
