Celts don't even have to sign anybody from the buyout market.
If they get Barton, great.
But Cs are really set right now.
Rob Al Tatum Brown Smart
Brogs White Grant Muscala
Hauser PP Kornet
That's a deep team.

You think he'll be behind Luke on the depth chart? By the playoffs, yes Think your right. When we guaranteed Kornet on 1/10 the writing was on the wall. Muscala is here to rest Rob and Al thu the second half of the season. Don't think he'll see much time during the playoffs exception being Rob or Al are hurt and out..

I don't know if Will "The Thrill" Barton would be thrilled sitting a lot on the Boston bench.
Cs are better off taking advantage of JB's absence by giving Hauser more playing time.
Hauser's shooting will be needed in the playoffs.

Guess it wouldn't hurt if Barton agrees to come to Boston. If I'm Barton, I'm not going to Boston because I know the minutes are just very few. If Al and Rob are healthy then White and Brogs will get some minutes at the SG and SF positions. Again, there's just very few minutes available for Barton if he comes to Boston. But hey, if Barton thinks a championship ring is worth sitting for, I'm all for Barton to Boston.

Starters- Smart, Brown, Tatum Horford, RWill
Top bench- Brogdan, White, Barton, Griffin, GWill
Barton is used to coming off the bench. I am sure he knows where he is at in his career.
Plenty of minutes available to back up one of Smart, Brown or Tatum!

Rob Al Tatum Brown Smart Brogs White Grant Muscala Coming off the bench is fine, but Barton might not come off the bench at all. All I'm saying is there will be better options for Barton. But hey, if he wants Boston then it will be a good addition.

Celts are better off going after TRoss if he's bought out.
TRoss is used to sitting on the bench a lot and ready to contribute when called upon.

I do think Barton, or a player like Barton (also agree it could be Ross) would be a great addition. I think minutes happen due to match ups, health, wanting to rest players, etc. I do feel Mazz has done a good to great job of managing Horford. I do believe if SMart returns 100% healthy, his extended abscence would allow him to come back re-energized and ready to go the rest of the way, hopefully to the finals. I do believe Tatum, Brown (assuming he only misses a short amount of time with current injury), Grant and Brogdon all need some time off/reduction in minutes.

Plenty of minutes available to back up one of Smart, Brown or Tatum! fixed it for ya....LOL. Stevens can redeem himself a bit for the crap / CHEAP trade deadline move by paying whatever they have to and get Baron here. I doubt the cheap ass owners will allow him to spend that full DPE though. fun fact....the owners are now paying LESS than they did before Vonleh as cut. Bless their CHEAP ass hearts!! There be some excuse as to why all they did was sign T. Snell to a rest of the year deal (probably worth around $500K) and most Celtic fasn eat it up fully.

Our top 8 of Smart, White, Brogdon, Brown, Tatum, Grant, Horford, RWill is most likely to be our playoff rotation, if we get fully healthy AND stay fully healthy through the postseason (which isnt a small "if") So because that aint a small "if" its good to have depth for the playoffs. Now if we are talking about from now until the playoffs, there will probably more games than not where 1-2 of the aforementioned 8 isnt available. That could be due to maintenance, current injuries (we're banged up right now) and future injuries between now and playoffs. So when 1-2 guys in your top 8 arent available , you look at your 9-11 guys. Muscala will help with that, as will holding PP, and maybe Hauser. But still could use another option or 2. Guys who are in a weird middle tier where they are fine with getting "Did not play - coaches decision" some nights, but stay ready for when called upon. Griffin can be an option here. But we could use a wing option here also. I suspect we'll get one on the buyout market.

But even though the plan is to use guys like Muscala, anyone we get on the buyout market for depth for now until the playoffs - that doesnt mean they wont find playoff minutes. Its just not plan A for them to get playoff minutes. But like I said, things happen, and its no small if that like say Smart or Rwill or whomever has to miss a few playoff games. So even though I dont think its optimal to have the depth guys playing in the playoffs and even though I dont think its plan A - its still very likely to happen and we should be prepared for that.
In short - I agree with Rkarp, Hedley and the majority of this board. Its good to be deep.
