In the West, we can never discount the Warriors. That being said, I think MEM is very good, and you can't sleep on a healthy Clippers team. PHO is good, but they don't scare me. MIL is our biggest threat. DEN also decent. As far as NOP......IF, and that is a big if, Zion stays healthy, they may be the team to beat. But, again, that is a very very big if. Kid eats too much gumbo.....lol Clippers would be the team to beat, if Kawhi Leonard is on the floor...that is a big if, though...

Of course, the Celtics were #1 in defense last year, but couldn't stop GSW when they had to. In addition, it's more than a rating, it's about shutting the other guy down when you have to. That's what they did to us, and we couldn't do to them in the Finals. When Rob gets back, I hope it's different, but first, I want to see him healthy and getting up to 25 MPG

Apparently, JJ Redick could have found himself helping to call the shots for the Boston Celtics. Having conversations with Derrick White on his ‘The Old Man And The Three’ podcast, the retired cager disclosed that he almost joined Joe Mazzulla’s staff, days after the young interim mentor had inherited the keys of the Celtics’ coaching upon Ime Udoka’s season-long suspension. – via Andrei de Guzman @ TalkBasket Coaching, Joe Mazzulla, Derrick White, Ime Udoka, JJ Redick, Boston Celtics
Redick was coincidentally in Boston, and he played golf and had conversations with Mazzulla about potentially aiding him on the sidelines, but this plan of his didn’t take place as it is. “One thing leads to another, Sunday morning of that weekend, I’m playing golf with Joe, talking about joining your staff,” Redick said. “I was just so impressed by him. I spent four-and-a-half hours with him.” – via Andrei de Guzman @ TalkBasket Coaching, Joe Mazzulla, JJ Redick, Boston Celtics

Since the Celtics’ offense sputtered in the team’s 2022 NBA Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors, there has been a singular focus on making sure the same fate doesn’t befall them again. “Guys really came out off of last [year’s] Finals and really came into this season wanting to get better to accomplish our goal,” Celtics forward Grant Williams told ESPN. – via Tim Bontemps @ ESPN Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
This season’s version is lapping the field with an offensive rating of 119.9 — the best offense in NBA history statistically. And as Boston prepares for Saturday’s Finals rematch with the Warriors (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC), the Celtics hope their offensive explosion is here to stay. “It’s night and day,” Tatum said last month. “The way we are playing at the start of this season compared to the start of last season. “I just feel like we haven’t looked back.” – via Tim Bontemps @ ESPN Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
Those struggles ate at Joe Mazzulla all offseason. Revamping the offense was the main focus as he and the rest of the Celtics coaching staff prepared for this season — even before he was elevated to interim head coach when Ime Udoka was suspended for the season for violating team rules. “The one thing we looked at was: What were the best clutch offensive teams running?” Mazzulla told ESPN. “We just tried to find the best clutch offenses and what they did and kind of studied that.” – via Tim Bontemps @ ESPN Joe Mazzulla, Ime Udoka, Boston Celtics
And, as Mazzulla spoke to various coaches about different ways Boston could improve its offense, those discussions often revealed similar principles: more spacing, more ball movement and more off-ball screening action. “We have a really smart team and experienced team and they know we had to reinvent ourselves,” Mazzulla said. “Guys have done a great job buying into that. Now we’re just learning about the different ways teams are going to guard us and how we can adjust to that.” – via Tim Bontemps @ ESPN Joe Mazzulla, Boston Celtics

I think GSW Greens punch to poole and letting Payton go was more damaging than initially thought. This might mean the end of Greens time in GSW. Just my opinion

Let's see who's really injury prone among the 3, Zion, Rob, or AD.
If Rob can surpass 60 games this season, that's a huge success.

A team won't suddenly become an offensive juggernaut, in the playoffs, if their offensive rating in the regular season is low. Same with the defensive rating, a team won't suddenly become a great defensive team, in the playoffs, if they were not a great defensive team in the regular season. It's the team's identity.

I agree that stats don't tell the whole story.
But take the case of Hauser and Brogdon.
Brogdon is the team's 3rd leading scorer and #1 in the team and the league in 3pt shooting %?
Hauser's not even averaging 8 points per game.
It's just like saying Trump didn't win the election because it was rigged and the vote counting was not correct.

Per B Robb at masslive.com
The Celtics will have to wait at least one more game for starting center Robert Williams III to make his season debut as the team officially ruled him out for Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors.
