We sucked tonight.
Horford sucked
Smart sucked.
Our bench, except Brogdan, sucked
Too many turnovers. This is not a good matchup for us without Rob.

We looked like a much slower and plotting team, than the team that played the last 2 games! Wonder why??

Plotting? Who were they plotting against, Don Corleone?
I think, overall, everyone on the team was slow and PLODDING. Horford was really bad. The entire team was bad. Our defense was terrible. But, of course, let's blame Smart

The 4 losses came from only 2 teams, the Bulls and the Cavs.
Clearly there is strong evidence that the Celts struggle against big teams.
Rob Williams is supposed to be the solution, but he's injury prone.
That's why Brad must address the need for another decent big man.

He's probably developing Plans A - Z as we speak. No need to panic just yet, though

The next 8 games are against teams with no big man like Vooch, Jarrett Allen, or Evan Mobley. I think Celts can go 6-2 in the next 8.

Marcus Smart may sit games this season to minimize ankle swelling
Adam Himmelsbach: Marcus Smart said he’s playing tonight, but anticipates having to miss games occasionally during the remainder of the season to minimize ankle swelling. Said he had an MRI that just showed a “really bad bone bruise” but no structural issue. 15 hours ago – via Twitter AdamHimmelsbach

OK , a deep bone bruise can take 2-3 months to fully heal.
so I ask should the team shut him down for 2 months ( end of January ) to let him get closer to being fully healed. Especially with Brogdon back now and the depth with White and Pritchard on the team.
They could also release the seldom used Jackson and Bring up Valentine from Maine for added depth in the back court if needed.
I mean I for one would rather have Smart playing the last half of the season and the playoffs, than having to "miss some games" at that time.
Add in the reports that Rob is looking good and will be back soon, I think it might be a good idea for the team to allow Smart to heal up.
I would prefer this team is as healthy as possible come the playoffs this year.

I doubt we will have another game this year where Smart and Horford go 3-18 from the field combined.
Also don't think we'll have 15 turnovers again.
Right now, CHI is a bad matchup for us. Getting Rob back may or may not solve that problem.
Not panicking just yet.

Still best record in NBA, granted tied with Milw in losses (1 more win then them).
Im not worried about the game, but a little worried about some trends:
1. Smart's injury appears that it will linger and will have to be managed, so if Im concerned about anything its that (sorry KY). 2. The turnovers. Its not only the turnovers (sloppy offense) - but also the points allowed off them. Bulls got 22 in transition last night. Turning the ball over and giving up easy pts the other way hurts. Its usually a 4 pt swing, that happens 3 x per game, and it makes a large difference 3. The 3 pt defense has been suspect. Bulls shot their second best from 3 of the year against us last night. 4. Rebounds. My issue here is that if we are going to lose the rebounding battle , we HAVE to win the turnover battle. You cant be giving them tons of second chance opportunities, and giving them easy transition points, and having empty possessions (from the turnovers). The turnovers are more important to me, but the rebounding compounds the problem.
I feel like Horford is part of the problem. He's helping on the glass, but he's not running much - which is hurting the transition. This should get a little better when the younger legs of Rwill enter the fold. I could just be picking on Horford after his awful shooting night.
I think we should let Smart, White, Brog run the plays and not use Jaylen as a guard, because thats leading to turnovers. He should be a finisher, not a facilitator.
I wouldnt be against adding to the front-court. But White cant go in the deal. Not with Marcus with a bone-bruise expected to linger and Brog's injury history. We also dont have a first, so dont have a lot to offer. But if someone under the TPE can be available for a couple seconds, could be worth exploring.
