Dee, after all the conflict over Kyrie's remarks and the BS that went down in NY, Philly and Utah, doesn't it say something that in a highly charged game in Boston last night that there was no obvious BS (like elsewhere in the NBA) coming from Celtic fans other than continuous booing every time Kyrie touched the ball. What happened to this racism Kyrie insinuated?
I said Irving comments were out of line. So were Ainge's. Who got the headlines. Irving What did Brown say? Boston we have a long way to go..
Let me provide a print version so you see the entire monologue:
“I actually have a perspective to share. I saw things floating around with Boston and the topic of racism. People around me urged that I should share my perspective. I have not talked to anyone - Kyrie, Marcus or Danny Ainge - about my thoughts or my perspective, but I do think it’s a good conversation. I think that racism should be addressed, and systemic racism should be addressed in the city of Boston, and also the United States.
“However, I do not like the manner it was brought up, centering around a playoff game. The construct of racism, right? It’s used as a crutch or an opportunity to execute a personal gain. I’m not saying that’s the case. But I do think racism is bigger than basketball, and I do think racism is bigger than Game 3 of the playoffs. I want to urge the media to paint that narrative as well. Because when it’s painted in that manner it’s insensitive to people who have to deal with it on a daily basis. The constructs and constraints of systemic racism in our school system, inequality in education, lack of opportunity, lack of housing, lack of affordable housing, lack of affordable health care, tokenism, the list goes on. So I recognize and acknowledge my privilege as an athlete. Once you get to the point where that financial experience overtakes the experiences people deal with on a daily basis, I want to emphasize that as well. So I want to emphasize that as well.
“I understand the frustration right now. I’ve seen what’s going on in sports and in sporting arenas with the two incidents obviously with Russell Westbrook and Trae Young, and I’m pissed, to be honest. I don’t think we should have to put up with that, and I don’t think that’s OK, by any means necessary. But when I look in the media and I see those incidents attached to like a frame of racism, yes I think it’s important to address those situations, but if the topic is racism, I think that those incidents don’t compare, or those belligerent comments don’t compare to what systemic racism is currently doing in our community and has done in the past. So it’s important to frame it in that context.
“I think that not every Celtics fan—I know that every Celtics fan in our arena is not a racist. We have people of all walks of life, ethnicities, colors, that are die-hard Celtics fans. So I think painting every Celtics fan as a racist would be unfair. However, Boston, we’ve got a lot of work to do, no question. Incarceration rate is ridiculous, the wealth disparity is embarrassing, the inequality in education specifically in Boston public schools needs to be better. There’s a lack of resources there, lack of opportunity. The tokenism here in Boston needs to be addressed as well. But if we’re going to talk about it and that’s what the media is going to bring up, I think a sporting arena, things might exist. But in the real world things exist to far different extremities. So I definitely wanted to share my perspective. This is my opinion, of course, and people can challenge that. I definitely think, Boston, we’ve got a lot of work to do. But, that’s it, really. I’m not really answering any questions, guys, I just wanted to share my perspective. Thank you.”
Maybe you missed this part or overlooked it ...

Che if a great win like last night won’t take you away from the Kylie / Ainge, Doc / Drewski debates, then nothing will.
After rewatching the game today I had a couple observations: 1) Admin already eloquently stated it above, the officiating was horribly slanted NJ’s way. The fourth quarter charge on Durant that was reversed by replay and called a block on Smart was the cherry on top! A blind man can see that was a charge, can’t think of any reason or justification to overturn that after looking at it in slow motion. 2) Romeo Langford may just have a future in Boston. Not only did he have a decent game but at 8:16 of the second quarter after a Celtics s Made basket, James Harden bowed up a little getting in Langford face and gave him a little shove. Langford stepped right back up In Harden‘s face and Gave him a little shove back. Of course the refs called the foul on Langford. 3) Grant Williams gave the Celtics some good minutes and try to be a tough guy. He needs to realize you cannot be a tough guy Confronting a player on the other team while you’re smiling. 4) about the only call the referees got right was at 2:32 of the second quarter on Tristan Thompson when he was so pumped up on the Celtics bench he was shadowboxing and Gave the ref a one / two gently to the back LOL the ref just turned on smiled. TT Was huge in this game though. That’s the TT we’ve been looking for all year he provided that element of toughness between him Marcus and Romeo, that we have needed and missed. 5) Would have thought this would be a good series to play Prichard so when Tatum gets the double and triple team he can dish the ball to an open Prichard for 3. But Prichard has been a non-factor. 6) Jeff Green being out is a huge loss for the nets. Aneven bigger loss is DeAndre Jordan sitting on the bench. The announcers last night were saying what a great coach Steve Nash is and what a great job he’s done but he has willingly sat DeAndre Jordan in favor of playing Blake Griffin, who quite frankly has sucked. Jordan always kills the Celtics and if Nash were to come to his senses and play him we might be in trouble. 7) great win boys finally showing a little heart and pride.

Dee quit the debate team Quaig, It was a good win on our homecourt to boot.. The Refs suck.. They have all year. More faking and flooping than the a Three Stooges flick. The NBA is full of bad actors pussies and bad refs.. Bottom line.. We won't win the east the Nets have a shot at it we don't.. Why Jordan isn't playing? Bad ankle and Nash is saving him for the Bucks or the 76ers is my guess. Yeah they miss Green we miss Brown even more.. I've watched my last Celtic game this year might peek in for the score. This won't the ist time i've tuned them out. I'll be watching the Sox. I'll give ya a heads up when i'm in Va in a couple months.. Oh and Prichard is a career 10 minute a game man....Just another undersized shooting guard who pretends he can play point..

Tatum adoration eclipses Kyrie Irving anger
By Matt Vautour
It’s been an undeniably frustrating year. The Celtics not only fell well short of their own expectations after reaching the Eastern Conference finals last year. The Nets’ success happening simultaneously made the sting worse. Irving’s master plan worked. When he went back on his promise to re-sign in Boston, Celtics fans wanted to believe he and an injured Kevin Durant couldn’t turn Brooklyn into a contender.
They hoped Durant wouldn’t be the same after his Achillies injury and Irving’s caustic personality would damage chemistry there just like it did in Boston.
Instead, the Nets, who also added James Harden to create a super team, did jell. Durant is healthy and Irving has been the player in Brooklyn the Celtics thought they were building their franchise around when they traded Isaiah Thomas for him.
The same Nets franchise, who Celtics fans used to enjoy mocking for dealing Boston the picks that gave them Tatum and Jaylen Brown, have zoomed past them in Eastern Conference pecking order. Brooklyn is undeniably good enough to win a championship while the Celtics had to win a play-in game just to reach the postseason.
Reasonable Boston fans aren’t expecting them to go deep into the playoffs. That dream faded somewhere in March and died when Brown needed wrist surgery. They aren’t even expecting this series to last very long. They just wanted to at least beat Irving. The idea of him coming back to the Garden for the first time with fans in the building and sweeping two games from Celtics was unbearable.
Tatum didn’t let it happen.
Long before Irving turned his return to Boston into a referendum on the city and the fanbase’s ugly racial history, many Celtics fans were eager to boo Irving for leaving town.
So they got after him early, booing when he walked out of the tunnel for warmups, when was introduced as a starter and every time he touched the ball. They cheered all 11 shots he missed on a 6-for-17 shooting, 16-point night. Occasionally the chants were more vulgar, but Irving said he didn’t mind because nothing he heard crossed the line and expected more Sunday night.

Hat Tip to Brad Stevens for this one ... Silver, you need to fix your Referees (Cheaters)!
Parquet plays: Stevens foils Nets late-game play Scouting matters, and kudos to Marcus Smart for executing the switch. By CoachSpins
Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports
Let’s just acknowledge it right now: the overturned block/charge call from the referees in the final minute of Friday night’s victory was a massive error.
When Marcus Smart jumped in front of Kevin Durant and went down, the initial charge call was the correct one. It was (or should have been) yet another example of Smart sacrificing his body in the biggest moments, making winning plays to swing the momentum of the game. Up 7 with 40 seconds to play, this charge call would have been the icing on the cake for Boston.
As much as Smart should be lauded for his physical impact, it was the recognition and headiness of Brad Stevens in the moments prior that helped put Smart in that position. As the Nets broke their huddle after a timeout and lined up in a particular formation, Stevens recognized it and made a substitution on the fly, as well as a tactical change for how to defend the formation.
The result was Smart jumping out onto Kevin Durant and causing what should have been a turnover:
Stevens didn’t necessarily win this game for the Celtics, but he certainly did everything within his power to help seal the victory. In a season where his value has been brought into question, postseason Brad always finds a way to show why he’s so great. The tactical sharpness and ability to foil opponents never ceases to amaze.
I can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve for Game 4.

So long as we are winning, or trending upwards, I will try to find it within myself to root for Stevens and Ainge...been a heck of a hard year though...I thought the C's were the best team in Boston, but now it looks like the B's and the Sox and who knows maybe the Pats are better...wth?!?...
